He was still reeling from the aftermath of Namsan Tower, of opening his eyes from what he'd thought would be the end to find himself back on the other side of the Honmoon, with the others prowling around him like wolves - still trying to close his fingers around the control he'd clung to so tightly, the safety of the control, even when it was so, so painfully that he'd lost it, that they'd pulled free of the leash and had no intention of letting him reclaim it.
His foot eased backwards, a flicker of his expression giving away the realization of his mistake, but it was too late - before he could think to try to talk his way out of it, Abby was on him, hands caught up in his claws and pinned down. "A-abby-" he began, his voice cracking - and shit was that embarassing - before his words caught in his throat, robbed by the bite to his skin.
He blinked.
His body went lax, pressing forward into the rock of those hips against his own, hands staying right where they'd been abandoned against the wall in favor of caging him in. "N-now," he stuttered, trying to restart his brain, grasping for those trailing threads of his control. "If you don't beg, I'll leave you to Romance."
since i am not wanting to make a more official promo until i actually get things more together but i have a very energetic muse on my hands - please like or reblog to help a brand new (kumiho) romance saja from kpop demon hunters find his voice!
finally managed to clear out everything except one draft (i'm so sorry gwen, my brain is just not wanting to cooperate right now for a longer more in-depth post), so i will call that progress!!!!!
i still might come back to clear it, but for now, i'm probably going to slink back off to mess around with eutrope or romance.
All of this happened so fast, almost in like a blink of an eye. Not enough of time for her to make a run for it, but enough of time so she could take a few steps back away from the stranger. Zelda was no stranger to Shinra and most of it's employees, but a first meeting with a turk wasn't something she had been expecting. Never before had she had a "pleasure" of face to face meeting with one of the turks, but universe had a twisted tense of humor sometime. This night would mark this moment as such.
Emerald irises found themselves fixed on the redhead, body perfectly still as if she had been expecting the inevitable. Fear and danger. Two of her constant companions that have been by her side ever since she was born. Eyes observed Reno for a moment, maybe even judged him silently but ultimately no word has been spoken. The depths of her eyes revealed her inner struggle — but beyond that, there was something else. A quiet resolve, fire that refused to be extinguished by Shinra and it’s shenanigans. The will to fight, to fight for her people, to become a small ray of hope maybe, even if battles weren’t her strongest suit.
❝ Do you mind telling me what do you require my cooperation with? ❞ Blonde spoke up, her body instinctively stiffening up, if only a tad. The tone of her voice laced with something bordering on cautiousness, a telltale sign that while she had no idea who Reno was, her gut was practically screaming at her. A sickening sensation that threatened to overwhelm Zelda. Her eyes squinted in suspicious manner - no sign of malice present on her soft features however. Whatever this stranger wanted couldn’t have been good.
It was a rare moment that someone was unafraid of Mako - he was the ghost story of the Turks, disavowed by ShinRa, a rumor spoken about only in the faintest of whispers lest it summon him from the shadows, glowing eyes and a ruthlessness that went far beyond anything SOLDIER or even the Turks could condone, a conspiracy theory pieced together by only the most paranoid of outsiders, a secret carefully guarded by files so old and classified that they'd long been buried deep. The fact that she held her ground in the face of that, the ghost story brought to life, glowing eyes and black ops training, was almost impressive.
He sauntered in closer, circling, like a coeurl scenting blood, before he lifted his e-mag rod, nudging her chin with the tip, letting it graze over her skin, holding her gaze with his. "You and I both know what I'm here for, princess," he drawled, low and lazy. "ShinRa needs ya t' come back with me."

He knew he wasn't the strongest of Chains - one of the weakest, actually, too sweet and soft-hearted to ever willingly hurt anyone (a far cry from his Contractor's other Chain) - but that had never stopped him from wanting to protect the person who had chosen him (begrudgingly, unwillingly, a cover to hide what he was capable of to anyone who might have questioned him). "M-mhm!" he confirmed with a little nod, straightening up just that little bit-
Only for his eyes to go wide at the task he was given. "O-okay!" he replied, scurrying just a little closer before he hesitated. "Do you.... want me to help you to a couch?" he asked. "O-or bring you something softer?"
The fact that Cheshire wasn't letting out a proper voice--only a mixture of terrified feline noises---made him pause. Why had he assumed this form in the first place? It was all a big mystery, but he was determined to find out.
Especially because he doubted the feline had found his way here by sheer coincidence.
"Are you unable to speak in this form?" His voice calmed slightly, but not by much. He couldn't say that it didn't piss him off just the tiniest bit that Cheshire had been so close to the Rainsworths.
"...Surely you know that coming here was a death sentence...that can only mean you came here for that bell, right?" A bit of a cackle.
"Sadly, that Nightray Sewer Rat made me destroy it, so it doesn't exist anymore, stupid cat. You came here for nothing~"
The fury dripping from every word would tell just how furious he was that this had transpired---that he had lost his goal because of someone he loathed who had taken advantage of his biggest weakness.
Cheshire kept trembling, his whole body shaking as he pressed himself back against the wall - making the whole cabinet he was cowering under shake from the force of his fear. (Why couldn't they ever see? He was just a cat. He was small and afraid and he wanted to be something more, something bigger and braver, but he couldn't, he couldn't, he was just a cat-)
It doesn't exist anymore.
The words sunk through the terror, like a small stone in a deep pool, but when they touched the bottom, it rippled through him. No no no, it couldn't be destroyed, no no, he'd risked everything for those memories, dedicated his everything to sealing them away, no no no no no no no-
A pained yowl escaped him as he launched himself out from under the cabinet, instinctive and desperate - as though, as tiny and weak as he was, something would change if he threw all of himself at it. But it wouldn't. It never would, because he was only ever a cat.
When he /had/ to be was the distinction there---Claude was always the one who had been more demure between the two of them. Some even called him 'stoic', but that was hardly true--he just expressed his emotions differently than the people around him.
He noticed what his Brother was doing, but before he commented, he tilted his head some, as if listening to internal commentary, before letting out a sigh. "Widow wishes to take care of that."
A puff of smoke soon revealed a black haired woman dressed in what appeared to be a more "gothic" themed servant costume. She bowed politely before leaning in and tilting Claude's chin up to face her with an amused, flirty expression.
"You know these trivial tasks are things I love to take care of for you~ So why didn't you ask me in the first place?"
Claude dismissed her with a gentle push of his hand that made no actual contact with her skin. "...How many times do I have to tell you not to get so close?"
"I wouldn't try to poison my own contractor, silly~" She turned and conjured up a broom into her hands. "Please leave the tidying up to me, Ernest-sama."
Sometimes, it was all too easy to forget that his brother was a Contractor - he wasn't half as blatant about it as the two adopted "siblings" were, Vincent always tumbling unconscious and Gilbert fussing around at Pandora's whims with Raven's black feathers around him. (A part of him wondered if it had been worth it, to return with something instead of nothing as Ernest had, the Gate simply yawning open before him with nothing to show for his cries. He didn't know. He didn't know.)
"No, no, it's fine," he replied with a wave of his hand, that charming smile coming to his lips again. "After all, we're here checking for oleander. It wouldn't do for anyone to think anything differently, now would it?"
Ruluf wasn't about to correct Reno on that. Of course, it proved an effective weapon whenever dealing with.... less than cooperative targets that needed a little discipline, or quickly silencing someone that dared crossed the company. Plus, the tie worked as a means to... ensure complete silence.
"That's what the laundry room is for. And the garbage," Ruluf replies coolly.
He much preferred a quicker method to solve their problems, as a last resort. Of course.
Grinning, Reno slipped away with his prize, Ruluf's tie twirled between nimble fingers from where he'd managed to tease it loose. "Still feels like a waste 'a time when ya can just cut out th' middleman an' just use somethin' a little more solid." And less of a liability too - someone couldn't exactly choke you out with your own tie if you didn't wear one.
"C'mon, Ruluf, live a little, yeah? Won't kill ya t' throw the damn thing in the trash."

" maybe i'm going crazy. " / for Kaname or Zero? :DD I really need to make a VK verse!
@purelve (unprompted? i can't find the meme but it has been a hot minute whoops-)
♞ Zero Kiryuu
Shit, someone had seen-
Zero turned his face away, panting into the wet fabric of his shoulder - trying to hide the fangs that pricked at his lips, the thirst burning in his throat, as pitifully late as it was. He should have locked the door. He should have had better control. He should have never let himself become this monster in the first place.
"Leave," he hissed lowly, grasping for whatever shred of intimidation he had left - anything, to keep himself from launching across the room and gorging himself on the elixir thrumming in her throat.
Norman carefully turns looking at the Poochyena that had gathered around them, pulling some berries from his pocket and bent down handing them to the three canine pokemon and watched them take one each before running back into the brushes. His eyes glance back at the redhead.
"Poochyena are usually fairly harmless. Excitable? Yeah, but overall harmless unless you provoke them," he says. "The zigzagoon's in the area are also fairly harmless but they are quick and have a habit of stealing items from your pocket. It's best to keep a close eye on your things."
His eyes glances up and down the man. "I haven't seen you around here before. Is this your first time in Hoenn?"
King's eyes flickered, regarding the way the other bent down and offered some fruit to the canines - and cataloguing the way all three scampered back off again, the menacing aura around them melting away quickly. ".... Noted," he remarked - he had no idea what a Poochyena or Zigzagoon were, but he was hardly going to interject (not that he supposed it mattered, when he didn't exactly have anything in his pockets in the first place).
"..... More or less." It was close enough to the truth for it not to matter - he might not have been native to wherever it was that Zero had sent him, but he was hardly going to say that, even if his code allowed it. He was an asshole, but not intentionally so cruel as to completely destroy someone's understanding of reality. "I'm... not exactly from anywhere around here."
Her breath caught the moment his words pierced through the space between them, quiet, raw, edged with something deeper than reproach. Shame. Guilt. Affection. It stirred all at once inside her like a storm gathering behind closed eyes.
She turned away, only slightly, as if shielding herself from the truth laced behind his restraint. “I never meant to be cruel…” she said quietly, voice trembling at the edges. “But I didn’t know how to give you what you deserved, not when I’m still trying to understand what I even am.” She clenched her hands tightly in front of her chest, nails digging into her palms like penance.
“If I reach for you, it’s because I trust you, Kaname. Not because I’m toying with your heart… but because yours is the only one that ever made mine feel safe.” A pause. Then softer, steadier, “If there’s a consequence for that, then I’ll bear it. Just… don’t shut me out.”
What a twisted mirror they made - her, so desperate to be kind that she could only ever be cruel without thought; him, so steeped in cruelty that he could only ever be kind without intention. It was one more way they were echos of each other, he the first and she the last, the beginning and end of their line.
Only she would ever regard him as safe - but then, only she had ever so dearly wished to see him as something he wasn't. (Her instincts had been all wrong from the start, never feeling the urge to bare her fangs or her throat to him, and he'd never been able to bring himself to change that, even when it had meant her placing him on a pedestal after he'd robbed her of them in turn.)
"Yuuki..." he sighed, letting his aura expand outwards slowly, gradually - relaxing his walls for a moment in that way that had become familiar to any vampire who were lucky enough to call him coven, that momentary flex so that he could better control himself. "Do you so truly wish to bear it? The weight of a thirst that slumbered so long as to make those tablets feel like a drop in the wake of a desert?" I would devour you, he thought to himself, an unspoken warning he hoped she would heed, for all that she never did when it came to him or Kiryuu, and still be left wanting.
Norman looks up, his hands still on the young man's ankle. "However, the sprain you have is concerning," He informs, straightening his posture and regards him calmly. "I don't recommend you getting back onto your feet or putting pressure on it for at least the next few days. It could shift into a far more concerning injury. Do you have a place where you are staying?"
His first line of thought was taking him immediately to the Pokemon Centre, since there were always room for trainers to stay for short periods of time. It had space and a cafeteria if food became a concern, and the Nurse Joy that ran that Centre was training in both Pokemon and human anatomy.
Worse case scenario, Norman would take the young man to the Centre or if there was no room, could offer one of the spare rooms he had until the younger was better.
Silver flinched, his ankle jolting closer to himself. Caught. He'd been caught, like a Rattata in one of the traps that had occupied the Game Corner's basement, lured in by a morsel of cheese to be fed to a hungry Arbok - or worse.
(No. No he didn't have anywhere else to go - how could he, when having somewhere would have meant trusting, would have meant taking the chance that he wouldn't wake up to find his father standing over him, ready to drag him back kicking and screaming to the life that he'd risked so much escaping from? No. No, he couldn't do that. He wouldn't. Not once. Not ever.)
"I'm fine," he hissed sharply, ignoring the second Snea? from his shoulder, Pluto clearly disagreeing with his assessment. "I'm handling it."

okay! i am home today (i called out since even though my back isn't hurting, it's still super stiff all the way down my spine, so i'm not wanting to trigger something from business as usual at work), so we are going to try to tackle some of what's here.
just for clarity's sake, i'll nudge myself into anyone's ims for anything i'm planning on dropping (since if someone has strong feelings about it, i have no problem continuing it!) but otherwise, we will try to clean out what i owe before i hop back onto eutrope and my not-so-secret project.
i've just generally been struggling to get past the horse girl brainrot to find the attention span to do my drafts, so rather than trying to force it only for nothing to happen (and then i feel bad about it as a consequence), i'm just gonna officially take a small break off here to spend more time on eutrope (@levinsteed).
everyone is more than welcome to come find me + mess with me on her (she might be from final fantasy xiv, but i have active verses for her for kpop demon hunters, lads, arknights, and genshin!), and i'm sorry for hitting pause on everything here!
i'll go back through my stuff when the hyperfixation cools a little and figure out what i'm keeping vs what i'm dropping then. but for now, i'm so sorry, the horse girl has won-
