In the hypothetical Ciaphas Cain tv show that exists vividly in my head, there's a very specific take on that scene in For The Emperor where he bonds with Regina Kasteen for the first time and then goes "I know what you're thinking, audience, but our relationship was strictly platonic for professional reasons".

That is, the voice over is all "I know what you're thinking..." while the characters aggressively make out on screen, getting right up to fade-to-black level, and then the voiceover goes "...but nah" and it flicks back to them sort of awkwardly fidgeting next to each other, knowing that they can't romantically interact without fucking up the chain of command.

I am convinced that the only reason Cain hasn't shown up as a living Saint yet is because you need to die to be ressurected with the wings and halo and nothing can kill Ciaphas Cain

It's only taken twenty-one years, but Ciaphas Cain is finally getting a new miniature after Aly Morrison's 2005 sculpt for Black Library's incredibly limited run of promotional models. A classic, but twenty-one years is still twenty-one years. Big improvement all the way around.

Keep on mogging that generic Commissar, lads. We're up to four better alternatives so far.
