It's used for many, many, many things outside of CDDs. It's not exclusive to CDDs nor solely clinical contexts. It was used for CDDs because of its pre-existing definition and usage.

We're happy to provide examples of medical literature using "system" to refer specifically to non-trauamgenic and endogenic plurals. We can do the same for the term "alter", where there's also a noted preference for "headmate" instead

Not meaning it in an offensive or rude way, but we're not sure if you noticed that you categorised "identity" as being for use by endogenic systems as opposed to clinical traumagenic systems, who have disorders with "identity" in the name

In general - alter, headmate, identity, fronting, system, collective, etc. have all been used for both traumagenic and endogenic systems in medical literature

"Alter" has been used similarly to "system", though we don't talk about it as much because it's hard to find out if it originated from "alter ego" or "alternate personality". And a lot of systems have a preference for headmate, so don't use the term anyway. But either way, it's not an exclusive term

"Identity" came about because dissociation is a disruption of identity (at least, that's the most likely explanation.) I.e. a disorder caused by dissociation of identity. But again, it's something used everywhere for many different things, since alteration and disruption of identity occur in many other contexts.

Most terms like "fronting" didn't come directly from clinicians. They described it in a lot of different ways, but a lot of specific terms were never fully established until the system communities got together and figured them out
