“Music Is My Sword”

For reasons kinda undisclosed, Franz has mostly been ostracized from society. The only thing that was keeping him from being fully ostracized was the fact that he was really good at music. Once that got taken away from him, society fully rejects him. Even when he becomes “useful” again, society still rejects him because what he does isn’t pretty.

And I feel like him sparing Baba Yaga is not just about their friendship but also because she’s a witch. Witches are often ostracized from larger society and while Yaga seems to have been respected, most Wardens kinda treat it as if it’s no surprise that she turned out evil cause “Well she’s a witch.” So in sparing her, it’s like giving himself a second chance as well. Sure, she might have created these monsters but like I don’t know what lead to that? Did she do it of her own volition or did someone make her?

He was never given the courtesy of being given the benefit of the doubt when it came to his curse until Yaga came along so why should he barr that from her? Someone could be making her do all this but nobody seems to care to ask or investigate because “Well she’s a witch, that’s how they’re all like”
