Pagan writers when talking about female deities: "They're a mother goddess"
Pagan writers when talking about male deities: "Well, their role and function is a lot more complicated and important than just just being a father god, and here's a 10k word essay discussing why they're more than just a father god"
OOOOO I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS
This is what originally turned me away from Wicca (among other reasons). So many books, blogs, and other resources seem to have so much built-in misogyny that it boggles my mind.
It's part of why I hate the invention of the "Mother-Maiden-Crone" archetype so much.
No, Hekate is not MMC. She is a powerful force of sorcery and liminality. No, the Morrigan is not MMC. She is a Goddess of bloodshed, mercy, and power.
Reducing such multi-faceted entities, such influential spirits, down to the box that patriarchal systems tried to fit them in is so disrespectful.
Freya, Frigg, Aphrodite, Hekate, Athena, etc. Do many Goddesses have aspects of fertility, nurturing, parenthood? Yeah, they do, just like Zeus, Ares, and Njordr. Is that all they are? Is that even the core of what they influence? Not always.
Immediate red flag if any book you're reading only has Goddesses in the footnotes, as mothers.
Very well said 🙏
I will start taking Maiden-Mother-Crone seriously when male deities start being assigned Boy-Father-Geezer.
I think it's hilarious that hands down the worst way to learn magic is the actual rulebook. Please do not read that. It's just there for reference when something weird happens
posts that i know are about magic the gathering but i have to check to make sure op isn't just living in a way doper world than me

“The old magic persists thanks to it’s unfathomable power.”
No, the old magic persists because the new magic can’t run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don’t want or need onto my orb.
Look, if the new magic didn't have a personality construct that kept trying to tell me which spells to use, maybe I wouldn't still be using the old magic.

Friends On The Other Side Curse - to cause nightmares for someone who is insulting you, gossiping about you, or otherwise making your life difficult by running their mouth
Don’t you disrespect me, little man Don’t you derogate or deride You’re in my world now, not your world And I’ve got friends on the other side
You will need:
Photo of the person, or a blank cloth poppet
Target’s hair or nails, if you can get them
Black marker, or needle and black thread
Valerian (for a constant groggy feeling)
Juniper berries (to cause visions)
Lobelia (aka Gagroot, to make them choke on their words)
Allspice (to alleviate diarrhea of the mouth)
Cypress (to cause dreams to become nightmares) [Substitute for Yew]
Vinegar
Jar with tight-fitting lid
Coins or food offering
Step One: Take the photo or poppet, and the black marker or needle and thread, and draw X’s or sew a series of cross-stitches over the mouth. The number will depend on how badly the target has been slandering you. For worse transgressions, use more X’s.
Say:
I bind your mouth, I bind your voice Because you made the foolish choice To insult, slander, and seek to maim, But now it is YOU who will be shamed.
Step Two: Place the poppet or photo, and the hair and nails into the jar. Add the lobelia and the allspice. While adding the valerian, juniper berries, and cypress, say:
No more words and no more speech But dreams I place within your reach Into your head these herbs will send A nightmare world without an end You chose to derogate and deride Now meet my friends on the Other Side
Step Three: Fill the jar with vinegar (or urine, if you prefer), and seal it. Wax or duct tape around the rim will prevent escape.
Step Four: Take the jar to a cemetery. Bury it inside the gate. Leave the coins or food as an offering for the dead who dwell there. Walk away without looking back.
Gabriel's Candy Curse
This is a more mild curse inspired by Supernatural’s resident Trickster Angel, Gabriel. The intent is to cause a little havoc in the lives of those who are getting on your nerves (but you still interact with frequently).
Needed:
-One piece of candy per person -Random objects ranging from palm-sized to chair sized -Wide open space -Marker (non-toxic)
Procedure:
Using your inanimate objects, place smaller objects within reach. Lay larger objects on the floor around you.
Write the name of the person you wish to curse on one palm with your marker. Make sure the marker is dry before going on to the next step.
Place one piece of candy in that same hand and ball your fist up tight.
Using your other hand, grab the smaller objects around you and throw them, drop them on the floor, break them. Stand up and walk around the room. Intentionally trip yourself over the larger objects.
Think, whisper, or chant the person’s name as you do this.
The next time you see them, offer them that piece of candy. Then stand back and watch them break, drop, and trip over everything in their path for the day.
Note: They do not need to consume the candy for it to work, but the effects will be stronger if they do.
Thinking about him (the lendbreen dog)
In 2019, a 16th century dog emerged from the ice in a mountain pass between Lom and Skjåk. He was a grown male, around the size of an elkhound, and had experienced injuries that were healed by the time of his passing. He wore a wicker collar.

Shut the fuck up about feminine and masculine energy
🔍 In September of 1914, Martha, the last-known living Passenger Pigeon, died at the Cincinnati Zoo. Her death at age 29 after a lifetime in captivity marked the disappearance of her once-abundant species from the world—and made Passenger Pigeons synonymous with the extinction of species at human hands.
But what happened? Step into the Museum’s Ornithology Collections to learn more.
