Been taking a little break from the Pica Serica Sidekicks! to work on some personal projects,,,, I gotta say I really like how this piece is coming along!!! It's *heavily* inspired by the works W. Heath Robinson did for The Folio Society's publishings of Hans Anderson's Fairytales (a favorite of mine from childhood I still have on the shelf) and Alphonse Mucha (though that'll be more obvious once I start getting into the details of it all)

Steven Universe is just Star Wars but gayer and for kids. Pearls are Kaminoans. Homeworld is Coruscant. The amethyst armies are the clone troopers. Lapis is Han Solo ("this isn't my fight, I'm gonna go hide out on a moon" *shows up at the big fight and throws the barn/ship they live in at the antagonist*). The galactic empire and the gem empire are the same thing. WD is Palpatine, blue and yellow are Anakin/Vader stand ins, Steven is Luke. This is all probably well known, it's been years at this point, and we all know the obvious Leia buns reference in Pink Pearl's design, but it's just now hitting me how similar they are. I guess it's hard not to have some overlap in two stories about evil space empires and rebellion factions, but even so... Anyway, in light of this realization, have this real messy little doodle I did on HeavyPaint of Pearl as a Kaminoan
