I notice a crowd (lets be real, often white people), like learning new words and phrases not to find cool new words to include in their vocabulary properly but to try and use them to force meanings that were never intended.

Yes language evolves over time - it doesn't change because some dude from Tennessee on tiktok feels like he holds claim over "unc" meaning "uncool" now. (christ that shit pisses me off so much, especially because the term was NEVER about speaking down on people or your own experience due to age and it was NEVER negative without context)

We've had Vladimir Putin saying the word "woke" - and I don't really even want to touch how much white people bastardized the phrase

We have "hot take" being devolved into a bunch of people who felt too special to say "unpopular opinion" they genuinely got rid of a phrase that meant presenting an early view on something before it had time for proper research - a term we genuinely have NO replacement for, for another way to share the same contrarian horny takes that people already were posting without the term.

Crash Out is apparently being slightly pushy because your food order was wrong (vs its original meaning of making an irreversible life decision due to anger, like crashing your car through a store front is a crash out, not being slightly upset and throwing a fit, or spilling food on yourself and making a sad face!)

We had racist white people trying to adopt an academic term with a meaning (black fatigue, the genuine exhaustion black people have with having to interact with racism in every single aspect of their existence) flipped into "being tired of hearing about racism from black people/ just another reason to be racist against black people because Tom in south dakota is angrily tweeting about black people while his town gets 3 new data centers")

"Karen" was specifically about RACIST white people and then had every white person erase all meaning into "oh its just a person who is upset at something lol" when the story was genuinely about a dude being racially profiled in NYC while bird watching and having a white woman call the cops to execute him for annoying her.

Is the colonization in the blood and just jumping out?

Is it a desperate attempt to claim any part of culture for all of it sacrificed in order to adopt whiteness to participate in the system of racial hierarchy?

None of these had enough time in anyone's lexicon to actually evolve, they were all immediately changed by people who couldn't even use context clues to figure out the original meaning of the terms and just gave up and decided "oh thats too hard to figure out I'll just make it mean this"

Its happens at all ages, and I'm just like - is curiosity dead?
