Do you have any book recommendations for beginner witches?
As a broom closeted witch, I haven't been able to get many witchy books, but here is what I can recommend:
The Golden Book of Fortune-Telling By KC Jones
Despite its small size, this book provides great divination advice! It has basics on birthdays and astrology, a numerology guide, and a guide to dream interpretation. My personal favourite part is the entire chapter on colour magick, from providing useful advice on what colours to wear for certain intentions, to things as specific as the colour of your front door. In my experience, it’s great for closeted witches too! It’s small and easy to hide, but pretty enough to display it and say you “Just got it for the aesthetic.” It also never says the word “magick” or “witch” and is not expensive for such a pretty, hardcover book! It may not have been written with witches in mind, but I’d still recommend this book as a great book for those interested in divination!
Consult The Oracle: A Victorian Guide To Folklore And Fortune Telling By Gabriel Nostradamus
Although also not being made for witches, it's a book that would be of interest to many. It talks about victorian superstitions, many of which are known today, and many of which are hilariously bizarre. It does have some good witchy content too, it has a guide to palm reading and dream interpretation, both of which are beautifully illustrated, as well as a section on something modern witches would recognize as being similar to oracle cards, a card game in which you can use standard playing cards to predict the future. It also includes a small section on spells and charms, many of which are laughably useless in the modern-day, like using a stolen potato to help with rheumatism, but some of which, such as a bay leaf pillow spell for love, still hold up pretty well. It’s not a spellbook, but you still might learn something interesting about fortune telling or superstitions!
And finally:
Literally any Cookbook by Any author
I might be biased as a kitchen witch, but kitchen witchcraft is so easy! Find any cookbook, or any recipe, look up the magickal meanings of ingredients, set your intentions, and BOOM! You have a magically enhanced meal! It’s easy for broom closet witches as well, I like to put magickally charged basil and pepper in my instant ramen, and homegrown mint in my lemonade. Even recipes without herbs can have your magick in them, if you use intention in your salt, stir sigils in your pot, or make a cup of tea with your meal. cookbooks are an underrated witchy tool that I recommend everyone incorporates in their craft.
