Wednesdayās Walk With DCS Foyle
Itās not all walking, but it counts š A few good reaction gifs, and some stills of Sam and Milner because, why not?
Plus, these of the angelā¦

Foyleās War - S02E02 Among the Few (SPOILER) Context: WW2. Britain. Rex is a fighter pilot. Andrew is Foyleās son and Rexās best friend. Foyle is investigating the death of a young woman.
āI couldnāt let the other chaps know the truth about me. You donāt understand the spirit of this place. Friendships. But it was more than that. They wouldnāt have let me fly any more. Theyād have kicked me out. I couldnāt let that happen.ā

@tvarchiveās TV Appreciation Week, Day 1:Ā TV show I wish everyone would watch
Foyleās War | 2002-2015 | Starring Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks
This show uses self-contained murder mysteries as an excuse to present a sophisticated social history of the WWII home front. It is full of beautiful footage of Englandās south coast. It is a revolving door of British character actors, but also features some of your favorite leading men before they were famous. But the heart of the show is DCS Christopher Foyle, the perfect fantasy of a morally-pure police officer, pulling faces and looking great in a fedora. You wonāt regret it.
My very favorite photo of Michael Kitchen by Tony Nutley.
Caught in a candid moment.
oh my goodness
ā¦in fact, itās bringing me out in a rash.
Excuse me? Whatās so funny, young man?
(⦠and believe it or not, thereās STILL MORE to come :o)
Oh my! Look at sweet baby Foyle and all that hair. He and Sam were puzzling over that:
Wait⦠when did his eyes turn from brown to blue?
Yes you have a point - they are brown in his baby picturesā¦what a puzzle.
Foyleās War: All Clear (2008)
Just⦠Just can I talk about Andrew in the first gif, his expression. (This is A WIP,)
Heās looking at his Dad the way you look at the heart of your life, when itās still there. Heās got through the war and he comes home and Dad is still fishing, as Heās fished for years. Everything has to be right in the world.
Maybe thatās what weāre supposed to see. It would have been easy to just hear Andrewās voice off screen and follow Foyleās surprise - perhaps that would be more traditional (or modern traditional)
Instead we see Andrew before Foyle does, and we see his reaction
things you think about on public transit

Anthony Horowitz said of Michael Kitchen playing Foyle:
One of the funny things about him is that heās the only actor I know who demands fewer lines.Ā Heāll look at a speech and say to me, āActually I can do all of that ā five lines ā with one look.ā And the annoying thing is, heās always right; he can.
Seriously, how did AH resist writing an episode in which Foyle has laryngitis and Ā has to communicate EVERYTHING with sighs and eyebrows? (Sam would translate for the slower constables.)
EPIC!!
You just giffed the Encyclopedia Britannica!!
Foyle overload! May I have some more, sir?
Hmm, I wonder ā¦Ā what would we do with out very own Mr. Foyle?Ā Itās rhetorical
Donāt really need toā¦umā¦go on, do I?

Well, Iām not here because of thisā¦interesting work.
The drawing prof in me wants to critique the drawing:Ā
The head is out of proportion to the body, which is too heavy and muscular to be Sam, and the forms are a bit too generalized.Ā The eyes are elongated but there is a general likeness to her there, some nice line quality.
The Kitchenette in me, however, is mostly interested in the aesthetics of Foyle.
I did find out who the artist is who did the large painting for the studio set.Ā Itās very much a Social Realism-esque piece similar to WPA work done in the US up to about this time.

Plus, Samās not that busty.
Anyway, I like OUR portrait of her much better.

OMG, this one brings me to tears every time!
One of our very best collaborations, in my opinion.
Original post and itās progression.
Well, they do say he says thatā¦.
So, itās not wonder you become verklempt at the sight. Just look at it! Itās a masterpiece!
(Itās aĀ āpieceā alright. Not sure of what š)
Thanks flygirl! I didnāt have the time or the inclination to scroll through my and/or your Archives looking for it. I knew youād have it handy, but you even provided links to the artistic process!
Youāre a true artiste.
*mwah!* š
PS. I only just now noticed how much BIGger her head is than his š¤£Ā
I donāt care what anybody says, even in stick form theyāre instantly recognisable.
This is PRICELESS !! I love it!
