That’s not the right IRS rule.

$599.99 is the amount below which a business does not need to issue a 1099 to a contractor who provides business services. The contractor still needs to report the income on their taxes.

The correct number for the IRS rule for money that is gifted rather than received in a business transaction is $13999.99–more than that, and the recipient has to pay tax on the gift and report it to the IRS. Less than that, and there’s no taxation or reporting requirement.

If we’re choosing amounts on the basis of IRS limits, give these people $13,999.99.

quick story once my English teacher had a slightly off and very religious borderline radical Christian student that fell asleep during class once, and there was one atheist girl in the class

so when he fell asleep, all the students except the atheist left their backpacks and jackets on their chairs and left the room

and the kid woke up and started to panic, looked over and saw the atheist girl reading a book, still in the classroom

she turned the page, returned his glance, and said “Hey.”

and the kid freaked the fuck out because he sincerely thought he missed the rapture

A couple of weeks ago I PR'd my 5k at a pretty hard effort. Today I wanted to break in my new @altrarunning racing shoes. So I took some @endurelite , laced up and ran. Didnt check my watch until I passed the 3rd mile. My goal was a 5k at a comfortable pace. I finished with some fuel left in the tank but didnt want to be too aggressive with the new shoes. I have been here, multiple times! By referring to the order as a “Little Rosa”, you don’t have to make as big a deal out of the fact that you’re seeking help.

And believe it or not, it gets better. Rosa’s also gives out sweatshirts to the homeless (or sells them to the general public) that has information on local soup kitchens and even computer training in the area, on an insert sewn inside the sweatshirt.
