Most people ship Bellarke because they have fallen in love with the pairing, and that doesn’t make anyone a homophobe. Please do know that Bellarke was the fanfavorite ship a year before Lexa even existed. People ship them because they have fallen in love with the ship, not because they’re against f/f.

Most people ship Reylo because they have fallen in love with the pairing, and that doesn’t make them racists. People like Reylo better because it’s more intriguing, just like they prefer Han/Leia over Luke/Leia (since before the revelation), and not because Finn is black. People would still prefer Reylo, were Finn a blonde. 

Most people ship Snowbarry because they have fallen in love with the pairing, and that doesn’t make them racists. If that were the case, then why would Olicity have such a larger fanbase than Lauriver, huh? Is Laurel black and I’m suddenly colorblind? Is TVD’s Stefan black too? Or do people simply don’t like The Designated Pairing trademark? Hmmm…

Most people who dislike Iris, dislike her because the writers do the poorest of jobs at writing her character, and that doesn’t make them racists. Characters written like Iris is written are hated everywhere, no matter how they look like.

So stop pointing fingers at everyday fandom preferences as if they had racist/homophobe conotations. A couple can still be disliked for how it is written or the trope it fits under and it not having to do with the couple’s gender or race. Look around you, people usually dislike The Designated Pairings. They aren’t shipping “fanon” because they’re racists, people like “fanon” better ever since the 70s! If not before! Make a vast research on most popular fictional pairings and you’ll notice how many times people simply liked the alternative better because they did, not out of prejudice. Yes, there are racists and homophobes everywhere, including in the fandoms, but do not blame a whole for a few. Most people have nothing to do with those guys and are getting blind hate and disrespect for having a different taste in ships than yours! Just stop! Report on those you actually see behaving with hate towards race and sexuality, but do not bash on those who haven’t done that! People will always ship different pairings, and a pairing being gay or interracial does not make it immune to not fitting everyone’s taste for the pairing it is, despite race or sexuality.
