What if the Hifumi we saw in thh isnt the real Hifumi?
Now, I don't mean this in a doppelganger way, I mean this in the sense that what if we saw Hifumi before he got character development. Everyone had their memories wiped, right? That also means that any personal development any of the students had would've been gone. I have a feeling that this is the case with Hifumi considering he knows Celestia's name. Celestia is obviously very protective over her fake name, seeing as she never revealed it of her own will. So how would Hifumi know about it unless him and Celeste were friends? And, why would Celestia befriend someone vulgar and grossly sexual towards woman unless he wasn't like that.
Explanation to what I'm talking about in real time order:
Hifumi goes to hopes peak, and meets everyone in class 78. At first, he acts how he did in the game, Talking about his interests passionately (Which isn't a bad thing or the problem with him) and being gross and sexual to all the ladies in the class, And (sadly) probably being gross to Chihiro. As the students get to know each other more, they all bring out the best of each other and try to help each other grow better. This includes getting Hifumi to understand when he's being gross and that he needs to stop. They eventually get him to be a better person, and when he does him and Celestia get the chance to start bonding. Now, (This is in head cannon territory oops, but don't worry shh) as we've seen Hifumi views Celestia as this higher being he has to serve, and for a bit that's their dynamic. But eventually Celestia starts opening up to him, little by little. Starting with talking about and reading manga's they like together. It then gets to the point where Celestia will (Secretly because I think she'd want to uphold her image) invite Hifumi over to play dating sims and similar things. This friendship will slowly develop until Celestia feels comfortable telling Hifumi about her real name, and eventually letting him call her that in private. And then the tragedy happens, and they all lose their memories. Hifumi goes back to his old mindset, and so does Celestia (Because she probably would have opened up to everyone in the class. Maybe not to Hifumis level but still opened up.). So because of that, Celestia commands him around because she doesn't care for him and thinks hes gross. When she kills him, the blunt force knocks back his memories (As shown in the game (and show)) and that's why he says Yasuhiro. (Also, notice how he seems to have gotten less weird in his dying moments. It obviously could've been that he was dying, but it also could've been that he was remembering his old (technically new ig?) mindset.
Anyway I'm just a firm believer Hifumi deserves better as a character and I also love Celestia and Hifumis friendship potential in non despair soo
(I'm talking strictly what we see in the main games, because I haven't read any of the manga or little side story thingies)
NO, you are 100% RIGHT.
Every member of Class 78, save for Mukuro and Junko, are not their "real" / natural selves because 2 years worth of positive growth was ripped from their heads, and they were put into a scary situation where they were encouraged to become worse. Danganronpa IF has Mukuro spell this out: Junko needed to steal her classmates' memories because otherwise they would never ever turn on each other and kill each other. Hifumi and Celeste absolutely were close friends pre-Killling Game (we even see some of it in V3's bonus mode and Danganronpa S, and it's pretty wholesome), Hifumi was friends with everyone so he wouldn't be so desperate for connection like he got with Alter-Ego, and Celeste gradually revealed more of herself as Taeko Yasuhiro to her classmates as seen in an official photo art. They were all friends and decent people and Junko twisted them against their will to cause despair.
YESS THANK YOU.
