I have no idea. Maybe the people who replied have no idea what Omelas was, either and were just messing with you.

In the story, Omelas is just a city (town?) where everyone is happy, as long as one child is kept in isolation if not tortured. Everyone knows about this child, and they feel bad sometimes but they know the kid suffering is paramount to them being happy. Sometimes this knowledge is too much and they walk away, as per the title.

I’m not sure why you were asking, though, like where did you see it?
