Disgusting
The ridiculous amount of Jancy shippers/Johnathan glazers even Ronance shippers falsely accusing Steve of SAing Nancy in S1 really is disgusting. There are 1000s 10s of 1000s if not more of these comments on here but especially on tiktok and instagram. Falsely accusing some of such a horrific crime even a fictional character is all kinds of messed up. When you got to make up these false accusations to try and make your ship seem better you know your ship is completely wanked.
Nancy and Jās breakup included love, I would never argue that it didnāt, but it still shocks me how many people online read it as a regular airing of grievances. Those two confessed that they were never charmed by load-bearing parts of each otherās personality (music, style, writing), and the disconnect and resentment between them grew to such a level that it had them disassociating, trying to cope with vices of their choice, and throwing away each otherās shit. Thatās not a little misunderstanding, thatās āpretending everything is okayā for YEARS. Itās telling that in s4, while 2000 miles away for months, they still wanted distance.
Steve, after s2, is done being avoidant. Pretending everythingās okay cost him the only person he ever loved romantically, so heās now heart-on-sleeve guy. And so s4 Steveās UD deathwalk confession to Nancy is justā¦āThis person Iāve grown into and the relationships Iāve built I owe to you. Every part of you has always been and will always be loved by me. You are special. For me, itās always been you.ā
i think its #funny that jonathan/jancy fans get to claim every bad thing about him or that relationship as the writers inability to write or them purposefully ruining jonathans character and trying to break apart jancy for drama/the love triangle.... but everything about steve/stancy is actually because of exactly who steve is as a character and how incompatible they are and nothing more and nothing less. el oh el.
You know what I think about a lot. When Jonathan talked about turning out to be like his dad, and how his children will hate him.
Because damn. I think it truly highlights the character's inherent selfishness, which wasn't really thought out. Instead of worrying about screwing up his kids, he's worried that they won't love him.
Also, like Jon, you wanna talk about turning out like your abusive dad a little. Like, why is the divorce your big hang-up? Are you equating Nancy with your mother? This convo with Argyle leaves me with so many questions, but also reveals a lot about the type of man he is.

Iāll never agree with your opinions on st*ncy ever, but I can respect the fact that youāre entitled to them. What I canāt respect is you posting on the Jancy tag when youāre clearly anti Jancy. I donāt know what the point of that is, unless youāre looking to start an argument. No one is forcing you to like Jancy, but if youāre going to post hate about it then at least stick to the anti Jancy and pro st*ncy tags, no one wants to log in on here and see takes like yours for the ship they like.
Was not looking to start a argument and not a hate post just pointing out the hypocrisy of Jonathan glazers Jancy shippers. Anyway i just clicked on all the tags at the bottom when making the post removed the Jancy Jonathan Byers ones now my bad.
Jonathan/Jancy glazers always saying stancy is toxic, which it is in S1, and acting like Jancy is not the most toxic ship on Stranger Things
Stancy should be the worst Stranger Things couple and yet, I ship it... and then they got destroyed
I know the Duffer Brothers wanted us to dislike the couple, but the more I read the reasons to hate it, the more I feel like the hate is more ridiculous than subjective (maybe I'll make another post to list every reason I heard and explain why I think this is nonsense.)
The only real reason to hate Steve is because he slut-shamed Nancy. At first, it seems as bad as Jonathan taking half-naked pictures of her. But let's not forget that Steve got punishing for it: Nancy slapped and after that, he still tried to fix his miss. Jonathan, on the other hand, gets away with it. The only bad thing is that Steve broke his camera but then again, he bought him another one at the end, so it doesn't count either. What's ironic is that not only every reason Nancy listed in S4 of why she loves Jonathan works well for Steve. Sometimes even better. The "only love can make you so crazy and so stupid" line is supposed to be about Jonathan beating up Steve but he only did it because he insulted his family, not because he disrespected Nancy. This however...
...feel more like crazy in love.
The only thing confusing is Nancy's feelings. In S1, she looked at Steve with desire. In S2, she said she wasn't in love and couldn't say she loved him. And the show is acting like she doesn't in fact love him but then, why would she stay with him for one year if she felt guilty on choosing him over Barb? Then in S4, she looks at him again with desire but because The Duffer Brothers listed more their young fans than themselves, suddently Nancy feels nothing for Steve and is annoyed by him. "It was never like this." Translation: forget the chemistry they built in S4:
"It was never like that." I hate this line so much. The Duffer Brothers did something brave and brought back something that almost no one asked for. Many Stancy fans became Stancy fans thanks to Season 4. And then after waiting three years, they decided to act like nothing happens and it's such a betrayal and coward move. I also hate how they made fun of Steve's dream. Granted, it wasn't Steve's best move but it was "In case we died, I want you to know..." moment and they turned it into a joke for Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve himself. You know, what it remains me? This scene from Batman Returns:
Bruce Wayne is calling out Alfred for letting Vicki Vale into the Batcave because many fans were mad at Alfred for letting her know that Bruce Wayne is Batman without telling Bruce. The problem is that in the previous movie, Bruce was on his way to tell Vicki anyway, AND after getting shot by the Joker, he disappeared out the window like Batman would. I think Vicki would have putting two and two together. But Tim Burton decided to agree with the fans, even though it shouldn't have been a big deal.
Anyway, back to Stranger Things, the problem with retconning their chemistry in S5, it was completely pointless to set up this "Nancy might be into Steve" plot point. What was the point? So that Steve can learn to move on from Nancy? He already did that in S2! He told her to go with Jonathan! It would make more sense if Nancy who couldn't make her choice herself in S2, actually chose herself in S5. But no, she broke up with Jonathan (and then again, it was so rushed, so the fans didn't even know it was a break-up) but she didn't talk to Steve. 18 months after he told her his feelings, she couldn't tell him that 'it was never like that." Honestly, it made me hate S5 Nancy.
I hated S5 Nancy. She was kind of mean and less likeable. Yeah, I know she was stressed because of Vecna's vision. But even in S4, she was not this bossy with everyone and so close. I also hated how childish was S5 Steve, after the previous season ended with Nancy saying "he growed up a little bit, you know?" Their character arcs were damaged in S5 and their ending was not satisfying.
Steve had the most steorotype job for a jock kid. He wanted to travel around the world but instead, he stayed in Hawkins and went from date after date, meaning he didn't change since S3. Nancy just said "screw up school, I want to see the world" as if she was Arya Stark. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't women not taken seriously in the 80s? Weren't they seen by men as just pretty to see but too emotional to listen or something? Remember how she struggles with her intership in S3 because of this? They both gave up their own dream, and the show is so casual about it! I'm not buying that Nancy would just gave up school like she could find a job easy-peasy. But I guess, after she killed a bunch of trained soldiers without getting shot and without getting arrested, she suddently can do anything. This is ridiculous! Nancy was so ridiculous in S5! She wasn't a character anymore! She was a modern stereotype strong independant woman. This show was supposed to be against 80s clichƩs, so instead it bring out modern clichƩs. The Breakfast Club did the "screw stereotypes" way better.
Remember when female characters could have a partner AND be independant women? Imagine if Steve was a woman. Fans would be way more upset that Steve still tried to find a partner at the end of the show. I mean, following this logic, this is like saying Han Solo is a trash character for starting like a badass character and ending out like a more tender man.
So yeah, call me sexist, but I don't care! S4 did an amazing job, bringing back a couple nobody liked and yet brought a great arc for both characters. This is how they should have ended: Nancy fighting her trauma about Barb (it should have been brought out, Vecna literally used that against her in S4!!!) and getting back with Steve, Steve breaking the stereotype jock character and being a tender version of himself, respecting his girlfriend and supporting her to accomplish her dreams. Here's something someone did on TikTok:
That's all folks! Have a good day!
this is very random but i feel safer now that the show is over and the fandom has died down a fair bit, safe enough to admit that i haaaate "platonic stancy" with a fiery passion because imo they were never really platonic, and i know that might make some people mad with season 5 and steve repeatedly saying their "just friends", and their all around bullshit ending, but it's the way that to break steve and nancy up, that they had to have steve and nance not interact for the vast majority of the next season, the season where nance and jon's relationship starts crumbling mind you, and then at the end of that season, to have them reunite and heavily imply that nancy was jealous of robin because she assumed her and steve were dating is really just the cherry on top. and then the entirety of season 4 which i and many many many stancy shippers have spent enough time explaining, and then all of the fuckin arrows that pointed to a stancy endgame in season 5 if the duffers weren't a couple of fucking wimps. like i'm so sorry "platonic stancy" when they needed to have completely seperate storylines because the second they're together again the chemistry slaps you upside the head. "platonic stancy" when they're both oggling each other."platonic stancy" when they do anything they can to get closer to each other. "platonic stancy" when they get caught multiple times staring at each others lips. like. i swear to god, seeing something tagged "platonic stancy" ending up in the main stancy tag infuriated me more than anything "anti stancy" ending up in the tag, because they literally had to be forcibly removed from the other in order to give jon and nancy a shot. and the fact that it's a shot that failed horribly ("imo" or whatever) and the duffers still gave both of them dud endings and they were STILL. EYEING EACH OTHER DOWN. LIKE š NOBODY'S š BUISNESS š

Ronance/Byler shippers or any non-canon pairing really.
Ronance/Byler shippers or any non-canon pairing why do you feel the need to try and make your non-canon ships canon. Just so we are clear this is not a hate post I'm not trying to have a dig or wind fans up i just want to understand why some of you do it. As someone who has liked a few myself I've never felt the need to do that i just enjoy them just to name a few.
10th doctor/clara doctor who (user name)
Jackie/Eric That 70s show
Superman/Catwoman
Superman/Zatanna
Buffy/Faith Buffy the Vampire Slayer
And also got a soft spot for Nancy/Robin/Steve unfortunately not that many fanfics with these 3 thought.
Fandom wise you know like fanfics/fanvids and the like i don't care you want to make Nancy Steve Mike Jonathan Gay/bi or Robin bi who cares its just a fanfic. Canon wise i just don't get it Nancy is straight it is what it is and Robin is gay and has shown no interest in Nancy what so ever beyond friendship. Same for Mike/Will Steve/Jonathan Steve/Eddie and so on. I mean the only evidence of these non-canon ships are screencaps taken insanely out of context to try and force non-canon ships canon. Ronance Byler Steddie and others are not have never and will never be canon.
Why?
Part of why season 5 felt so jarring for the older teen (early 20s at this point) characters was because they had spent 4 seasons showing why Nancy and Steve were not like how people perceived them to be (not just a stuck up goody two shoes, not just a meathead jock) and they failed to do anything significant with Jonathanās character development in that time so then when he is faced with these developed versions of Nancy and Steve, the writers just donāt let Jonathan acknowledge that he was wrong about them and also have Nancy and Steve CONTINUE to atone for the s1 stereotypes that Jonathan assigned to them (Nancy saying she has to get out in the real world, despite having been fighting for herself and others all these years; and Steve apologizing AGAIN for being a dick to Jonathan, which at this point is now like 4 years ago in the show and Steve had already apologized and been punished like every season)
Just felt like the writers (or just the Duffers) wanted to make Jonathan main again and instead of giving him any kind of arc, they just let him act exactly the same as he did in season 1, if not worse, and continue to let him be rewarded and apologized to without ever acknowledging any of his own wrongdoings (taking nude pics of Nancy, chastising Nancy for being upset about the sexism she faced at work while Jon said/did nothing, lying to Nancy about applying to Emerson, slow motion breaking up with her from Lenora and then getting insanely jealous when heās back in Hawkins??)
They just missed every opportunity to give Jonathan any kind of arc or development or anythingā and Iām not even saying he had to change his opinions about Steve or Nancy, or whatever, but he never has a single story arc that gives him the opportunity to question his original beliefs about others and the world, he never has to question that he is always right and everyone else is wrong, it just makes his character soā¦. Flat.
And I know a lot of fans (both Jon fans and antis) didnāt like his characterization in season 4 when heās just ignoring his problems and smoking weed with Argyle, but honestly? Of all the seasons in the show, that was one of the ONLY times heās had to confront the fact that he might be wrong about something, when ARGYLE tells him he canāt just lie to Nancy and string her along instead of facing the issue head on.
We were robbed of the completion of what could have been Jonathanās 5 season long arc as soon as they wrote off Argyle without a wordā had Argyle been in season 5? Jonathan wouldāve been forced to grapple with what he really wants, and how he fears being perceived.
Stancy in the Jancy break up
I am going to put other ship tags on this post because i really would like to hear interpretations from other fan groups ships.
āit was never like that with himā line never really bothered me so much. Personally i always took it in regards to S4 to be fair i have seen comments from Jancy Ronance and other fans that seem to agree. I mean Nancy and Jonathan were literally talking about the events of S4 when she said it. I just took as Nancy meaning nothing with Steve happened during S4 despite all the flirting and the amazing Stancy moments she did not cheat on Jonathan with Steve.
A lot of other fans Stancys and rivals took it another way i guess in regards to Nancy's overall feelings for Steve as in she has no romantic feelings for him. If that's the case then to me it makes no sense āit was never like that with himā is past and not current/present tense right if the writers/duffer wanted to make it clear then why not say something like "but i just don't feel that way about him and never have" which would be current/present tense and kind of hard to argue against. Also a little more food for thought is Nancy has said the same thing before in S1 and 2 in regards to Steve and Jonathan before dating them both so even historically in the show when Nancy uses those word to put it bluntly she's full of crap.
Then the 6 nuggets bit i never took that as Steve expecting Nancy to be his own personal baby maker i took it as him talking abut the kids he babysits when i mean when Steve told Nancy about the 6 nuggets in a RV dream he literally driving a RV and had 6 high schoolers in the back in Robin, Eddie, Erica, Dustin, Max, and Lucas. But lets just say for arguments sake he was talking about children with Nancy and it was the writers/duffer bros intent on making it clear that Nancy has no romantic feelings for Steve then why not have Nancy straight up deny it say no to that dream but she never did. She said she admires Steve because he knows what he wants but she does not know what she wants i mean fair play they are only what 20 21 at the shows end who knows what they will want in 10 15 years time.
Through out the shows run for whatever reason Nancy has never been aloud to state her feeling for Steve in a clear definitive manner she has always been gagged in that regard. The Stancy relationship is and has always been open ended and very ambiguous at best but considering how the show ended the duffer bros really leaning into the whole create your own ending thing maybe that was the point.
I am a massive Stancy shipper am i just reading to much into this what does everybody else think.
Make me choose: @evermoredraco askedĀ ā Jancy orĀ Stancy
Time travel au where 1983 Steve and 1987 Steve switch places
Nancys just gone upstairs with him to change clothes when suddenly a far older, more grizzled version of her boyfriend is there, scars wrapping around his neck like a choker, brown leather jacket and red bandana working together to make him look like he just walked out of a post-apocalyptic action movie and instead of explaining anything to her, he takes a second to survey his surroundings with terrified grim eyes and bolts down the stairs.
He pulls out a bloody homemade spear and jumps up to slash at some creature that she now sees had been looming over Barb. It takes a while and so much dodging that Nancy fears for his life on numerous occasions but he eventually decapitates it gives a tired āoh fuckā and collapses.
Tommy and carol have no clue what to do, just stand there in shock with no concept of what has just occoured but Nancy acts. She takes Barb inside and makes her a cup of tea, examines the demos body and determines it to be a real life monster but before she spends more precious time debating how that shifts her world view, she lays old Steve on the couch and checks him over for injuries, resolving to wait for answers with Tommy and carol moving back into the house to loudly yell and pace behind her.
Meanwhile a young Steve with wet clothes lands with a splat on the floor of WSQK while all the others are planning to break into a military base and screams because who the fuck are all of these strangers why are they all armed to the teeth and staring at him.
Nancy is literally the only one he should trust and he is terrified of her, his version of nance never toted around a shotgun like a second limb, he feels like he doesnāt know her anymore and that scares him. Jonathan doesnāt have any luck either , having a version of Steve call him a freak again brings up some not so nice memories and he gets angry and has to be held back from yelling by Robin.
So instead itās Dustin who is actually able to aproach him because sure he never knew this version of Steve but he did hear about him for years and years in Steveās self loathing rants so he aproaches him differently. Itās easier of him to be trusted by s1 Steve too since he isnāt some strange version whoās shifted to become unrecognisable of an old acquaintance, heās new and blunt, exactly what Steve needs in this moment.
He tells him that things have gone to shit and actually answers his questions, while this Steve doesnāt have that same history with him he still has a similar sense of humor so he starts up a more toned down form of banter that gets him to relax.
Heās still lashing out at everyone because no matter what time heās from, Steve doesnāt like change and this future is full of it but itās clear thereās no bite to it.
Jonathan eventually cools off and recognises how young Steve was. 5 years is a lot of time and he realises that pretending that this version of Steve is still who 1987 Steve is, is just petty.

This has been said before but the 6 kids line: absolutely about the party. Steve has befriended 6 children and so he throws out this number. And if it's not about the party it's about Robin, Eddie, Erica, Dustin, Max, and Lucas who are in the back of that RV and Steve sees him and Nance as the responsible parties, the group parents if you will.
