Anti-anti-Stancy
Hello, guys. So recently I read a lot of "reasons" to not ship Stancy and I decided to debunk them because they're just irritating to read. There are so many stupid arguments that I can't put them all in one post but I'll list a good bunch.
"The teen who gives the best romantic advice to Jonathan/Nancy/Steve is Argyle because he's actually friends with one of them. Eddie doesn't know Steve. Robin doesn't know Nancy. But Argyle knows Jonathan."
Okay this logic falls flat right away because Argyle doesn't know Nancy more than Robin does. And Robin know Steve more than Argyle know Jonathan. Also Nancy decided to confess herself to Robin about her issues with Jonathan, which says a lot because Nancy is probably the most closed characters of the whole show. If Nancy confess to Robin, the girl she didn't know anything a few days ago except that she dates Steve, except she doesn't even date Steve, then this is something serious that Nancy needed to get off her chest. It's hilarious the Jancy shippers constantly need to bring out that Stancy is toxic because they're encouraging by people who don't know them, as if Jancy wasn't encouraged by people who knew them even less. Flo in season 1 told Nancy that only love makes people crazy, while she doesn't even get the context right, Dr. Owens asked them how long they are together even if they weren't together yet, Murray was the one straw but even he didn't know anything about any of them. But sure, it's more romantic to let random adults tell them to get together than people who actually built a friendship with them and fight alongside with them until death.
"Nancy doesn't want six nuggets. She makes fun of it in Season 5."
I can't with this argument! Have Jancy shipped never heard of the word "compromise?" That's funny because Hopper taught this word to Eleven in Season 2. Seriously, couples disagree on many things. But when they're determined to say together, this is what they do: compromises. Steve wouldn't never force Nancy to get pregnant 6 times. She would tell him something like "two children, nothing more, no negociations!" he would answer "Sure thing, Nancy." Not to mention that Steve said Nancy was the most IMPORTANT part. Jancy fans hold on to the "Six sounds like a total nightmare" line, but conveniently, they always forget the "I kept one part, the most important one" line. Seriously, Jancy fans hear only what they want to hear.
"Steve didn't even know Nancy's favorite song when she was Vecna'd"
Okay... do you know her favorite song? Does Jonathan know her favorite song? Do Nancy even had a favorite song? Seriously, we never heard Nancy talking about music, except for this scene of Season 5 where she confessed to Jonathan that she disliked the bands he loves. This is stupid! You're just making-up excuses to bash on Steve as if these excuses aren't valides to Jonathan as well.
"Steve deserves better than Nancy"
I mean, to be fair, I felt the same way after S5, but this season ruined so many things in this show, including Nancy's character herself, that I tried to ignore it. (Seriously, this season is the Cursed Child of Stranger Things). But I guess people said he deserved better because she cheated on him. (Yeah, many people say their fight was a break-up but this is way too ambiguous. Nancy told Murray she loves Steve, then sleeps with Jonathan, then Steve still needs to tell her to go with Jonathan.) I'll admit Nancy wasn't her best in S2. But people seem to forget one thing: Nancy grow up since S2. I mean, remember when people hated Steve on S1? Remember when he slut-shamed her? Why did people still like him after this outrageous thing? Because he grew up and became one of the most well-developed character of the whole show. So, if Steve can be forgiven, why can't Nancy? She trusts him, she acknowledged that he grew up, and she's willingly to risk his life for him. Why can't Steve give another chance to Nancy?
"Jonathan understands Nancy better than Steve"
Yeah, this is true... except when she was alone for a mouth after her best friend died, and she waited for Jonathan but he wasn't there. So she naturally went back with the guy who figured on his own that Nancy didn't cheat on him. (Honestly, that's one of my favorite Steve moment. When he realized what he did was wrong, and Nancy didn't need to prove him anything. He knew it before he saw the Demogorgon.) Also, what about S3 when she was laughing at constantly for being a woman. People said Jonathan realized he screwed up. Yeah, because the world was in danger and Will was involved! If it wasn't for that, these two would still be dealing with their issues because one need a job because he's poor, but the other can't have a job because she's born a woman. And they never dealt with that! How are people whining about Nancy not wanting six childrens be okay with that? And even if you want to bring S5, remember when Jonathan told Steve that Nancy wouldn't want them to show up at the hospital. SHE WAS CRYING IN THE BATHROOM BECAUSE HER PARENTS WERE DYING AND HER SISTER WAS TAKEN TO HELL, AND SHE HAD NO SUPPORT! That's not trusting your girlfriend! That's just negligence! Like, even in the season where Steve suddently isn't in love with Nancy anymore, he understands her better than Jonathan.
Okay, that's all for today. I'll go back someday with more arguments because there's more! See you, guys!
