Temple was a rare exception to the iceberg that was Sada Vang. The bond between the trio of herself, Charles and her friend was one that may seem complicated to outsiders trying to peer in, but to them it was just natural. It was, what it was, and not all things needed comfortable labels.

"But my question is." Sada asked as she grinned at her friend, unsure how much she believed that the bumbling cartoon of a man that was her ex husband was even capable of saying. "I'm amazed he didn't blush so hard that his head popped."

Temple's face lights up at the memory replaying in her head. "It was close, don't worry. I thought I was going to have to make him go lie down." Although the restaurant was busy Temple was not surprised when a waitress found them and waved them back inside. She and Sada weren't really the kind of women who could be expected to wait for thing.

She moves through the crowd and follows the woman to a secluded table, the grill already on and plates with a variety of meats and veggies waiting them. Hell Yeah, this was how Temp liked to roll. She nodded and smiled in thanks to the waitress and sat down. "I love Carroll. But God, it's small." Not in size but in culture.

With Viv enjoying a day with her cousins, Eric could have had a moment to himself, but for his manager's gentle reminder that, maybe, it was the right time to prepare for an upcoming audition. Didn't Daniel know what hiatus meant? It was supposed to be a quiet zero-work time for them both since even Daniel himself was supposed to go on an exotic trip he had been waiting for for months. Instead, he was sitting in front of his laptop at some ungodly hour, practicing lines with Eric, which was quite a dedication, given the 15-hour time difference.

Eric shut his laptop as soon as they had decided that they were done, and he could start working on a fresh self-tape. He rested both hands on the lid as if to stop the device from turning back on. What once was ice in his glass was now ice-cold water, waiting for some whiskey to join it, so Eric did just that. If there was a single thing that made up for working on a day off, it had to be Eric's favorite bourbon sipped on the ocean-view terrace.

The glass doors that opened from her living room to the backyard were open wide, music spilling loudly from a vintage record player that's been spinning for the past twenty minutes. Temple is in a tank top and boy shorts, a paint roller in hand as she dances through her living room--appearing and disappearing from Eric's line of sight in the process.

A minute later and she finally hears him, coming out to greet him with a shake of her paint roller then doing a 180 to go back inside and turn off the music first.

"The Lime was a terrible idea." Temple updated him from a previous conversation. "What was I thinking? Lime?" She puts a hand on her hip, spreading paint from her hands. "Tomato red is what I should have gone with!" So that's what she was doing!

How long had it been since she'd cut him off?

And what the fuck could be going on that she was getting back in touch?

Had Jim died? No. It couldn't be that. He was sure Sada would have said something by now if old boring ass Jimmy boy had kicked the bucket. Relapse in her SA? Maybe. Charles let that possibility mull over in his mind as he got dressed, always ready to satisfy Temple's needs. A much more dire theory sprang to his mind as he pulled his shirt on and his movements stalled.

Terminal illness?

No. She would have said more if it had been that serious. He finished getting dressed and headed out the door to meet Temple, finding her already waiting with coffee at the ready.

Dec: sorry, looks like I got the wrong number.

Dec: my bad! Hope you're having a good day, stranger.

Dec: hey, have you seen my favorite sweater?

Dec: the dark blue one with the soft knit
