im not saying anything new, but the fact is that, even putting aside that monogamy is socially normative, the desires of monogamy and polyamory are not symmetrical.
a polyamorous lover wants to take as many lovers as they please, but their polyamory makes no demands of you other than acceptance.
a monogamous lover on the other hand wants only you as a lover (and if this was all monogamy was there would be no issues in relationships between polyamorous and monogamous people), but they also demand, or at least crave, for you to take up monogamy too, and love no one but them
there is control in monogamy that simply isnt present in polyamory
