eli had spent the morning filling out paperwork and updating his insurance to account for the mercedes he now owned. despite dropping $200 on raffle tickets the results of the contest had come as an icy surprise--he knew the universe hadn't randomly pulled his name from a hat. he did't have that kind of luck.

somehow, sada had done this. eli had managed to keep that piece of information choked down as riley bounced off the walls in excitement. the car would be hers, afterall. the twins were jealous, eli could see it, but he'd raised them well enough that they wouldn't throw any fits. for now the girls had gone to the mall to shop for clothes to wear to the new years party and eli had finally been give the oppertunity to get to eden's garden.

he slipped through the back, keeping his head down until he'd made it to sada's office. eli hated being here. this place was filthy, literally and metaphorically, and nothing could bring him more joy than to see it go up in flames.

she expected ethan to be busy tonight. autumn seemed all too comfortable bossing him around ( something that both turned anora on and irritated her ). illy just couldn't really give a shit about the party tonight. she had too many things that actually mattered playing in her mind. caleb's death, her confession to ethan, his own killing of his uncle.

anora arrived at autumn's on ethan's arm, early so he could assist with final preperations at his bestie's beck and call. anora dipped pretty much immediately and went to kill time at eden's garden. it was basically the only place around here that she could have fun in fucking peace. she could get as high as she wanted and didn't have to worry about losers hitting on her or creeps trying to take advantage. for all her venom, sada was a pretty good gaurdian angel if you played your cards right.

she bounced into sada's office with a smile, her hands resting on the back of one of the velvet chairs that faced sada's desk. "whatta have that's stronger than coke?" illy inquired.

"i wanna get really fucked up tonight." it was new years! she wanted to bring it in with a ring. remembering that she'd snuck out on ethan and he always noticed that sooner than she expected illy added, "sooner than later, preferrably." she wanted to get at least one dance in before she left.

although initially reluctant, on her second trip to eden's garden, bee ordered and paid of a martini at the bar before she went to find sada. she could think of no words that sufficed as a peace offering, so she settled for the gesture. an olive, the green pierced through, the weapon meant to help not harm. she was still working on the poem then, she is not sure how much sada would be interested now.

in her attempts to measure the correct portions to leave dinner at home for jesse and penny, while also bringing enough to the studio for her and elio, there have been a few nights with far too much surplus. although she normally would leave them at charles', sometimes that means also leaving it at sada's. whether or not the older woman takes kindly to these drop offs, bee has never stuck around to ask.

she has not yet shared why she moved to carroll, or why charles took such an interest in bringing her out here. she's not sure that it would be receieved very well, and she doesn't want sada to perceive her much at all. she'd rather be the quiet nobody, rather than the charity case. at least, until she's really found a place for herself and her work here.

Illy opened the door with a grin and held out a plastic-packaged item to Sada in greeting. It was a Bratz doll, which Illy had picked from the toy store on main street yesterday. She'd went in there looking for a teddy bear to gift to Sada in a 'sorry your house burnt down' kind of gesture.

But the doll had caught her eye in a silly way and Illy had choosen it instead. "What are you gonna do to the idiot who burnt down your house when you find out who it was?" Her curiosity and desire to be included in the mess was the reason Illy had reached out to the older woman.

Anora figured Sada would appreciate the directness of her questions. She didn't seem like the kind of woman that wanted to be offered condolences. Realizing she should explain the gift she shakes it in her hand. "It reminded me of you. She's a little baddie."

"Jim actually approved of the First Moon party." Her ex-husband usually disagreed with everything that came out of Temple's mouth--just to be petty, probably. Temple was a great step-mom! So what if she'd let Alice (14) say 'fuck' and looked the other way when Gwen (17) snuck a boy into the house. Neither of those things were illegal, Jim!

The last time they'd talked Temple had told Sada how she'd been fighting with Jim over throwning a period party for Alice when the time came. Temp and Jim had been divorced over five years and seperated for over nine, but she'd always stayed her in step-daughters lives. Jim made it clear he didn't enjoy her prescene in their lives, but he'd never outright kept the girls from her. "He told me he'd go half on whatever I spend." She informed with a surprised smile. Temp would never say no to spending her ex-husband's money. "He said go as big as Alice wants--decorations, gift bags!"

"ha ha ha." he laughed. "yeah, i mean, if your goal was to be a nasty cunt it didn't take long for you to hit the target. ask your mom, i'm sure she'd agree." he let out a quick breath. smile still in place. "oh that's right. you never met her. because she didn't want you."
