has anyone noticed the new meta for people being accused of bigotry (esp white people being accused of racism) is to claim they're receiving harassment (often with no proof just on a "trust me" level) so the whole conversation turns into how harassment is always wrong and bringing up the bigotry that sparked it will get you accused of lolcowing
the more i talk to extended family the more i learn that it was EXTREMELY obvious to all the adults around me as a child that something had gone horribly wrong and i needed professional help, but i guess there's some sort of prime directive thing where you can suggest to the kid's parents that the kid might need help but you can never ever ever let on to the kid that you can tell something is wrong. you just have to hold on to that until the kid becomes an adult who's able to say "so i think i experienced a lot of trauma when i was very little" and then you can say "yes, i know. i didn't know what happened but it was completely unmissable that something had." okay. thank you. that's very validating. but why did you leave me to suffer and keep feeling like there was no other explanation than that i was broken and going insane. would it really have been so bad to sit me down and go "i see you. i can't help much, but i can tell something happened and you're in a lot of pain. you deserve help and support. you're not going insane." or something. i don't know. my internal experience was mostly that i had suddenly become a bad child who couldn't seem to get anything right and was always being yelled at. maybe it would have helped if someone had said something.

Does anyone else feel like there is a push to make degendering seem like the worst thing that ever happens? It is bad, don't twist my words. But I've seen people genuinely say that degendering binary people is always worse than misgendering non-binary people.
It's worse when they twist 'degendering' to mean 'someone didn't immediatly shout the right pronouns within the millisecond they laid eyes on me, like they should.' People are advocating against gender neutral spaces, gender neutral language and asking pronouns, because a (passing) binary trans person's gender not being affirmed 24/7 is treated as a worse thing than excluding non-binary people from society.
'I'm wearing makeup and a dress, is this even a question?' 'I have a beard, why are you asking my pronouns?' Because non-binary people exist, and the least you should do is not exclude them from society.
this is exorsexism
getting mistaken for a trans woman isn't the same as being one, the e in tme stands for "exempt" not because you're incapable of catching strays, but because, at the end of the day, you're able to exempt yourself when things go to shit, you can hide behind your agab, you can tell people "hey I'm not one of those ones", and maybe you wouldn't hide behind that because you're cool, but you can, if you really wanted to, if your life was on the line. Trans women can't do that and they catch more than just fucking strays.
do you. do you think that bigots will seriously go ‘oh well they said they arent a tranny in that way so we should stop harassing them!!!!’ if i tell them they’re wrong about what i piss out of.
i’m going to be really honest with you guys i think the tendency to read the absolute worst possible intentions into every action you don’t agree with is getting too automatic and it’s eating you from the inside out
Contemplating coining the term CRAP (CRazy-Acey-in-sPacey) to describe the phenomena of people making purposefully exaggerated blogs on Tumblr parodying a group they don’t like while pretending to be genuine to garner backlash and further stoke hate and then people taking it excruciatingly seriously despite it being an obvious psyop. Transmascvoicesproject? That’s crap. Don’t bother with crap, don’t step in it just to try to get rid of it because all you’ll do is spread it around everywhere and get accused of being the one responsible. Just point it out so others can avoid it and leave it at that.
if i could give one piece of advice to newly transitioning trans men, it's that it's 100% possible to find a community of people (including women!) who don't treat you as a threat, and the people trying to convince you otherwise are not your friends
Also, perhaps, have we considered that it's actually really bad that we treat closeted trans women (and closeted nonbinary people, and frankly cis men too) this way? Like. It's a bad thing that trans women are treated like distrustful monsters for """"being men"""" before coming out by one demographic and then are also treated like distrustful monsters after coming out for being trans by another. That's not a sign of a culture with a healthy relationship with gender in the slightest!!!
Have we considered that treating people as inherently dangerous or distrustful by virtue of their gender alone is in fact, the very gender essentialism that perpetuates radical feminism in our spaces and that is something that we should be working on stamping out?
I am genuinely sorry that people across multiple different identity lines experience this shit because no trans person should be treated like a distrustful monster just by virtue of their gender identity before or after coming out.
*extends my hand* Let's examine the ways we allow gender essentialism to invade our spaces and harm other trans people and put an end to this cycle of gender essentialist abuse together!

The scene i wanted to see
It's wild to watch the phrase "tumblr sexyman" morph into "man that tumblr thinks is sexy," because when I first saw the phrase come into use, I always saw it used in reference to the phenomenon of "when presented with a wide array of fictional characters, tumblr will always pick the skinny white man to obsess over, and if the fan-favorite character has no canonical human appearance, the fandom will inevitably create a popular fanon of the character as as a skinny white man."
When I hear "tumblr sexyman," I think of Cecil Night Vale being constantly depicted as a skinny white man instead of literally anything else. I think of the background character white men who get elevated over protagonists that are women, people of color, or otherwise not the white man power fantasy.
"Tumblr sexyman" is, like. An insult. I DON'T want any of my blorbos to win a "tumblr sexyman" poll. "Tumblr sexyman" is the exact opposite of what I want my own OCs to be. If any of my characters ever get called "tumblr sexyman," I will have to immediately re-evaluate myself and the art I'm making.
Things I think of when I hear "tumblr sexyman":
Cecil Night Vale, as previously mentioned.
Oncelercest, because if there aren't two skinny white men to ship, tumblr fandom will start shipping the skinny white man with himself.
Bill Cipher inexplicably being fanon'd as a white twink despite being a fucking triangle.
Everyone fawning over Marvel Loki while shoving every woman and Black person in the MCU aside.
The way nearly every single character in Hazbin Hotel has the same "tall and skinny" body type, along with all the criticisms Black audience members have made about the issues with Alastor's design.
The way tumblr got obsessed with the white man villain in Sinners.
Someone made a post about how a trans man they knew was incredibly transmisogynistic, proceeded to imply that this was behavior that ALL trans men uphold and support and proceeded to put this shit in the tags
cool, whatever, further proof that the CIA fucking won because now every white suprematist with fucking holes for brains thinks they’re a goddamn revolutionary all because they crawled out of 4chan, let the shit fall from their mouth, and hit post.
Goddamnit where is the bomb that kills all 4tranners
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
have you noticed. ableds seem to operate on some kind of strange video game logic where doing something at least once unlocks the ability to do it with ease forever. if you can walk unaided once then you can walk! if you can eat that food you're intolerant or allergic to once then you no longer have that dietary requirement! if you can say one word at least once then you'll be fully verbal and speaking! like. it doesn't work like that bestie beloathed
