Originally a Glee/Klaine scrapbook. Former heavy hitter in the Zoo fandom. Now mostly an aimless collection of anything that catches my fancy, including animals, 1980s My Little Pony, Neopets, books, aesthetic photos, and random shippy things. Lots of TV stuff. Full time CBS loyalist, part time Tennant Trash, and new convert to the Tom Hiddleston Stan Train in the year of our lord 2023.
Finally, finally reading the last Harry Potter book again in full since the first and only time 19 years ago (wanted to really feel that epilogue, I guess). I'm 5 chapters in and...oh man, it's already so sad. So bleak. I was right, I don't want to be here!!!
Past the halfway point & was trying to hold out, but my curiosity can no longer be reined in & I've looked at my original journal review, which I am already past because now I'm down the RABBIT HOLE of all the incredible fanfic (and occasional pieces of art or essays) I found in my month of post-reading frenzied fandom haze.
Some of which is gone because it was all on LJ or FFN (maybe re-saved later on AO3 or an HP archive of some sort; I havent checked); the art in particular I can only assume is on some flash drive from 3 hard drive saves ago even though it's still bright and clear in my mind...but I am hoping and praying I have most of the fic in physical form. I didn't print all of it, I know, but my very favorite fics - mostly short standalones - I needed in physical form to take with me on vacation without internet that year, and they're important enough that I even know where they are.
It is WILD how important this collection is to me as a canon supplement. Too embarrassed to link publicly to the old rec post but maybe I will try and re-gather them here; everyone should share this same knowledge base.

I was inspired by lots of cute Polly Pockets from the 80s and 90s for this piece! 💕 I love how each Polly Pocket has a unique world inside it so I drew some dolls exploring other toys and making friends! 😊

I haven't been to the library all month and only had two checkouts left (really only one; the other is only still here because I haven't finished a review yet), when I went today to pick up my one (1) hold. While there I decided I might as well check out a bunch of things "just for circ numbers" that I wasn't really looking to read right now - I am trying to focus on books I own, and eagerly anticipating several new spring releases I am in the first round of checkouts for that will HOPEFULLY be in circulation soon?? - but that I want to read at some point, so why not demonstrate interest now.
Except now I want to read all of them immediately, oops.
Some Kind of Famous - Ava Wilder: I have done no real research on this one or its author. I just haven't read much in the way of contemporary romance in the past few months and I kind of miss it, and I remembered this one went on my 'for later' shelf based on keywords ex-singer/songwriter, handyman, home renovation/fixer-upper.
An Irish Summer - Alexandra Paige: same backstory, but the setting is the main draw (working at a hostel as much as the "Ireland" bit).
How Bad Things Can Get - Darcy Coates: I literally have 3 of her books I own & haven't read, but you know what I don't have? A proper summer thriller of the "Influencers lured to an island for Murder Reasons," variety, a subgenre of which I have yet to tire. (upon closer inspection, this one appears to be "AN influencer + several hundred of his fans." Honestly, you know what, even better.)
This Much Country - Kristin Knight Pace: 7-year-old memoir that's been on my Goodreads TBR for 4 years, gotta watch that kind of thing on library shelves before they weed it. Basically a less-trashy Blair Braverman: woman who married & divorced young, worked a wild series of adventurous jobs all around the U.S. before moving to Alaska & falling in love with sled dogs (and also a better guy).
They Went Left - Monica Hesse: I've vaguely thought about reading this one, but low priority because I'm so burnt out on Holocaust stories. Only picked it today because I was looking for standalone 2010s YA to award Checkout Points to and...well, now I just want to lie down for 5 hours and read it, because I spent 2 hours this morning randomly finally rereading Briar Rose by Jane Yolen and I am so entirely in this exact headspace.
Out of Air - Rachel Reiss: yesss more underwater YA horror (it's been a year since I read Fractured Tide and have not stopped thinking about it since). One I've been toying with checking out the audiobook for on Libby while I wait for my requests, but it's the kind of story where I also kind of want the physical book in case I want to faster.
This Tiny Perfect World - Lauren Gibaldi: another less-popular contemporary YA. Not in the mood for it now but I want it eventually and constantly fear this will get weeded; it's 8 years old and always seems to be on the shelf.
The Rules for Disappearing - Ashley Elston: same for this one. Tension even higher because it's even older and this is the last copy left; the one above at least has 2. (also, for the record, I was interested in Ashley Elston before she was cool, a.k.a. publishing adult thrillers that get nominated in Goodreads Choice)
Running Past Dark - Han Nolan: ok actually this one I don't really want to read; I just saw "Han Nolan who's been publishing YA since the 90s, with a new book??" and blacked out. Upon closer inspection, the plot sound meh, and she's been hit or miss for me in the past. But, side note - this is from 2023, after a twelve year gap in publishing?!
A Box Full of Darkness - Simone St. James: and finally there's the book I actually went here to get, which is currently like 7th down the list of how excited I am now, but also the only one that I HAVE to read because waitlist. 😅
I knew it was bound to happen soon, it's been like five years since they last increased prices in this section (which is obviously too long to go before trying to squeeze out more profit), but as of this month Goodwill's books are now $1 more expensive, $3 for paperbacks and $4 for hardcovers.
And that's kind of about my breaking point. I can't justify a $4 splurge on a book I might like, if for just a few cents more I can hop online and order a book from my wishlist. $3 I can still do, but even then I'm cautious.
Looks like I will be hitting library sales and losing control even harder at them in the future...
A strange genie appears and has an offer for you. You’ll be cured of all, you’ll have a stable job you’re happy with, and you’ll basically just live the best life you can imagine. However, there’s a catch—you’ll have to relive one specific grade level from middle or high school (the genie is American).
a new reality tv show called So you think you can write Doctor Who
twelve episodes, twelve contestants - a mix of annoying middle aged sci fi authors, fan fic authors and random people off the street
a variety of against the clock writing tasks, big finish scripts, ability to interact with actors without shouting at them and challenges where you have no budget or doctor for an episode

this is how you find the new doctor who showrunner

Last year, someone I follow on BookTube curated her TBR cart for each season, pulling a selection of her books to choose from for the next 3 months that specifically "fit" said season. I thought it would be fun to know what options I have that would fit the same purpose, ergo...this list! (titles only because this is a reference 4 me, in the order they appear on my book catalog, which is sorted by target age demographic & then author)
