This photo was posted by an “animal Advocate Group” and won best Halloween costume. What’s depicted is a child dressed as a dairy farmer with an artificial insemination wand and the shoulder-high glove used for rectal insertion, while the other children are dressed as a variety of cows “waiting” to be bred. Artificial insemination is a method of impregnating livestock animals, and dairy cows require ongoing pregnancies to produce milk. Their calves are taken away 24-48 hrs after being born so that farmers can milk the mothers for profit. Male calves are slaughtered for veal or as feedlot steer, while females are raised to replace downed or spent cows.

One of the reasons paper cuts are so painful is that they usually cut just deep enough to hit the many nerve endings in your fingertips, but not deep enough to bleed, clot, and scab.
