Review - Sniper Elite: Resistance

Sniping is pretty wonderful. The X-ray shots do get a bit grating after a while, but I like the immediate feedback. You line up a tricky shot, pull the trigger and if it jumps to a cutscene then you can sit there and drink your tea as smugly as you can.

Review - Dragon Takers

A pleasant enough story but the world is just so... empty. Rather aggressively linear, too. Not a deal-breaker by itself, not everything needs to be open world, but there's just nothing else but the plot. NPCs are just flavour text and there are no sidequests.

(Early Access) Review - GreedFall II: The Dying World

I've had another fit of remembering this blog. I took a look at what's available on Early Access for GreedFall II. Story and characters are nice.

Review - I Am Future

A strange name for a strange game. Some nice ideas - I loved the disassembling - but it's held back by a lack of any meaningful progression.

We need big goals in games like this, so we have a reason to build and connect all the smaller machinery. That's not really found here, and the story isn't good enough to push us forward either. A big shame.

Red Read Redemption - Review

It's finally on PC! They've not updated it in any significant way, mind.

It's still a great game though, even if the gameplay hasn't aged well. I hope you like spending hours shooting identical looking bad guys from a horse, with an insane amount of auto-aim.

So, I don't choose what games to review for the most part. I review what codes I'm given. Sometimes it gives me stuff I never expected to play... like this. Reviewing random games is, honestly, super fun 90% of the time.

So, I had a moment of wondering whether I really liked this game or not. Then I realised that I hadn't taken any notes for the last three days and my neck hurt from leaning in to the screen.

So that was a definite 'I like it'.

Marko: Beyond Brave - Review

Lastly, we have Marko: Beyond Brave, a game that made me feel slightly mean. Excellent moustache though.

As Metroidvania's go, it's got the right ingredients. It's just... not a very good chef. Riddled with bugs, awful platforming and terrible player direction, it quickly went from enjoyable to irritating.

Koboo: The Tree Spirit - Review

Let's keep this (drunken) train rolling with Koboo: The Tree Spirit.

If I were more of an emotional man, I'd have given it a higher score for its environmental message (whether it was intended or not). I am doing a degree in it after all.

Sumerian Six - Review

Next up is stealth-em-up Sumerian Six. Topping the list at games where I agonised over the score.

Despite writing for a site that has scores by default, I do hate scoring reviews. Would you go to an art gallery with a notebook and pencil in a score for each painting? I generally don't like Stealth games, but liked this one. Should that have given it a higher score?
