We did it [tumblr]!

With nearly 14,000 entries from over 70 countries, and over 2.5 million votes cast by over 600,000 people in the Webby People’s Voice: we won!

Tumblr's Response to the Great Twitter Resignation is a Webby People's Voice Winner 2023

*sound on* Musk chaotically shook his Twitter snow globe on the evening of November 17th to announce coming layoffs and just general chaos. Journalists hopped in to a three hour long Twitter Space hosted by Buzzfeed tech reporter, Katie Notopoulous and Garbage Day web culture reporter, Ryan Broderick called “Twitter … was a website”. At it’s peak it had 20,000+ concurrent listeners and almost 200K total listeners total so we naturally jumped at the chance to infiltrate this Twitter Space to field questions like:

Are you using a voice changer?

What should Twitter users know before they join Tumblr?

Would you let Elon Musk join Tumblr?

It was unhinged and (probably unrelated??) they removed our speaker privileges very quickly after our addition to their conversation.
