~Tauranna Dee~

Heyo, day 2 of gamejam (technically day 3 but no one on my team did any work the first day so shhh). Our DJ hamsters sprites and animations are in development, hope to show them off to you all soon, but for now the entire game is just really funky rectangles, and as such there is now an actual backend to the gameplay. The things that still need programming is the hype meter we want to make, the ability to upload and use custom songs, and then beyond that just making things look pretty! This is a pretty simply game to make as a programmer, although I do want to make the jumps feel a little less floaty, gotta find that right level of gravity and jump force. But yeah, so far 2 of the 8 planned obstacles have been implemented as boxes. May also not be able to post a log tomorrow, but if I don't then hopefully by the next dev log we'll have actual assets in the game.

Confessions of a Digital Princess

Hi! It's been a while since I made a dev blog on here but, hi! My name is Ben, and my 3 friends and I have joined the very serious Juniper Dev game jam https://itch.io/jam/theveryseriousjuniperdevgamejam running from the 20th to the 27th (at least in aussie time).

Our current game design idea is a game where you play as a Hamster DJ who has to run on a spinning record dodging obstacles that people throw up to the DJ booth....desk....thing. Specifically we wanted the player to be able to speed up or slow down the track, and in doing so gain or lose "hype" points which is a functionally meaningless score system. I have made games with them before (See https://ben-w10.itch.io/losing-blood) and I had a lot of fun so we're running it back.

I have no idea how this jam is going to go, but I am quite excited in making this game so far! Maybe future dev logs should be more "professional" but idk I'll slip into whatever when it feels comfortable. Anyways attached is some concept art, as well as a video of the very first, very temporary build, to the hamster dance song.

Idk man Caine stole my heart and I felt the need to try animating him.
