i haven’t seen any posts regarding the outcry that’s happening in the UK right now so: the murder of sarah everard, who went missing in london last week and whose body was found a few days ago and the publication of a survey which found that 97% of women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment has caused public uproar about misogyny and violence against women. sarah, who went missing as she walked home from a friend’s house, did everything women are “supposed to” as she walked home in the dark: wear bright clothing, stick to main roads, walk under bright street lights. the last image of her alive is from CCTV footage taken about 30 mins walking distance from her home, in which she can be seen talking to her boyfriend on the phone. the man who’s been charged with her murder is a cop. and not just any cop, a diplomatic protection officer, which means he’s one of around 5% of cops in the UK that carries a gun, although he was allegedly off duty at the time. we don’t know how sarah was murdered yet, but her body, which was found dumped in woodland miles from her home, took a few days to properly identify for a yet unknown reason. (edit: she was identified by dental records, meaning she was no longer recognisable enough to be identified by a family member) FIVE independent investigations have been opened in connection to the cop’s arrest. the uk gov is going to debate making misogyny a hate crime. violence against women isn’t new, but the level of outrage this time is significant. women have had enough.
update: a peaceful vigil that was held tonight at clapham common, london, one of the last places sarah walked through before her abduction (source), has turned violent. (the relevant hashtag is #reclaimthesestreets.) the london met police are now snatching and arresting peaceful protestors, less than two weeks after one of their fellow officers snatched sarah off the street and murdered her. (sources x,x) sarah was a white woman, so this protest against the police is specifically with regards to their misogyny and male violence against women in general.
women in the UK have had enough.
keep going, sisters
i saw the disgraceful video, earlier tonight, where women had gathered together to stand against male violence after a cop murdered a woman, and the cops who were present enacted violence against women. men get very angry when women stand up and call them to account. a lot of men just absolutely hate women, and the women they hate most fiercely are the women who call them out on that hatred. keep standing. keep speaking. keep pointing straight at the hatred. burn it with the fire of constant truth.
this guy talks insanely fast but this is solid info on electrical outrages in the US.
privatization is cringe level 100
here’s a transcription of what this guy says in this video, because he talks extremely fast — i’m also including sources wherever possible, in case anybody wants to do some further reading or wants proof
If you’re looking at Texas right now and thinking, “It seems pretty bad that a state’s electrical grid can fail overnight from a snowstorm,” I have news for you. It’s so much worse than you could ever imagine. Don’t be a heartless idiot and blame ‘red state voters;’ it’s red states, blue states, purple states, green states, everywhere is in crisis.
In 2017, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave our energy grid a D+, because almost all of it was built in the 1950s and 60s with a 50-year life expectancy, and we’re 10 to 20 years past that. Across the country, 640,000 miles of high voltage lines run at full capacity at almost all times, which is way more than the grid was designed to handle, and Texas in particular has one of the worst ratios between planned and real capacity.
It’s so bad that the US Government has said that if just nine of America’s 55,000 electrical substations are brought down, it could cause a coast-to-coast blackout lasting 18 months or more. And testimony from the executive director of Task Force on National and Homeland Security has said that a prolonged collapse of the electrical grid could result in the death of up to 90% of the American population. [screenshot in the video has highlighted text from this source, saying: “a prolonged collapse of this nation’s electrical grid—through starvation, disease, and societal collapse—could result in the death of up to 90% of the American population.”]
Today, the US has more power outages than any other developed country. And that’s because 68% of the electricity in the US is managed by investor-owned privatized utility companies [the source I found said it’s actually 72%], and updating their systems cuts into their profits, so they don’t do anything until something fails. And when things do fail, and, for example, start massive wildfires in California, guess who pays for it? Mostly taxpayers.
There’s no good news, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, because all of America’s infrastructure is failing, so I’m gonna keep doing videos about it.
thank you !! I was hoping someone would do a transcript

come on brain yip yip
Its been a very long time since I've been on here.
But Christmas always reminds me of my Hayffie loves.
Happy Holidays tumblers, here's abit of Christmas Hayffie 🎄
...
'There was a knock at the door...'
"Merry Christmas, Haymitch. May I come in?"
This protest was led by Resident Physicians, who were protesting both for themselves as well as other staff. Resident physicians are doctors in training, who have been tirelessly working on the front lines, putting their lives at risk, only to be spurned and disregarded by the administration. Residents already have little power and work 70-80 hours per week under intense conditions; they are bound to comply with whatever the department/admins want or risk being blacklisted from the profession with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt.
Stanford vaccinated only 7 residents in their first phase, despite there being over 1300 of them at the institution. They also failed to vaccinate Peds EM nurses, all the while vaccinating wfh admins.
This is truly pathetic and reflective of the many problems in American healthcare.
me in five years when i still don’t have my life together:
thinking about my optometrist who was treating my eye infection and said “if it hurts, you can rinse your eye with boiled water. look at me - look at me. i want you to understand that i mean water that has been boiled and has since cooled down. not boiling water. do you understand?” like i’m so grateful for this man ensuring that I wouldn’t destroy my eyes by pouring boiling water in it, because it is an adequate assessment of my intelligence
this is a man who has experienced The Public
