But the odds are severely in favor of Republicans for 2018. The election is ridiculously lopsided: 23 Democrat seats and both (there are only 2) Independent seats (who Caucus with Dems) will be up for the taking compared to only 8 Republican seats. Not to mention midterm election turnout is always far less than POTUS elections and Republicans consistently turn out for midterms while non-Republicans fail to show up worse than they normally do.

All of the states in bold were awarded to Drumpf, 11 of which are currently held by Democrats. Republicans hold a 52 seat majority right now. If they can maintain the 8 seats they have to defend, they only need 8 Democrat and/or Independent seats to have a 60 seat supermajority and the power to pass basically anything they want under Trump for two years.

I finished the revival a few hours ago and I’ve been thinking about what happened, mainly about the parallels asp was trying to make. Maybe rory is lorelai, logan is christopher, and jess is luke. But maybe rory doesn’t want her version of luke, maybe she wants her version of christopher. And maybe rory is lorelai in all the ways that are better and bigger tban lorelai, sort of a 2.0 version. And maybe jess is luke in all the ways that doesn’t fit with a gilmore girl no matter how much jess loves rory. And maybe logan is christopher in all the best ways, in all the ways that make him good enough for rory and make her a better person.

Maybe being like someone doesn’t mean you make the same mistakes or the same choices in life. I’m like my mom and I refuse to make the same choices that she did. Just because rory is lorelai, logan is christopher, and jess is luke in these parallels doesn’t mean that they’re going to end up in the same places. Rory (lorelai) may be pregnant with logan’s (christopher) baby, but doesn’t mean she’ll go about it the same way her mom did, and it certainly doesn’t mean that logan will go about it the same way rory’s dad did.

Rory is thirty two, a whole sixteen years older than lorelai was when she found out she was pregnant! That’s twice her age! She has so much more resources and knoledge that lorelai had when she was going through the same thing. Parallels don’t mean that history repeats itself.

I don’t care whose fault it is. The casting directors, the producers, j.k. herself. I don’t care. That level of disrespect, historical revisionism via white supremacist fantasy is not to be tolerated.

With no black people.

That every magical wondrous place they can imagine, a dominant feature is that we have been scrubbed from every corner?

And where did we go? We’re we driven out? Did they kill us all? When one type of person is overwhelmingly missing there is always a reason.

And what reason will small children of color make up in their heads to answer such a question?

@oneknightincamelot I promise I’m not dragging you, but I’m actually not talking about leads, I’m talking about environmental black people. Like black people in the background of that world. 

This is what Harlem looked like in the 1920s. 

This is what harlem was portrayed as in Fantastic Beasts

And I specifically looked for scenes with concentrated groups of background people. 

Its not the starring cast that was “whitewashed” its the ENTIRE ENVIRONMENT that was historically revised. Which is a much more dangerous lie. 

Also, this is specific to black people. While I am constantly hungry for more Asian representation and am happy anywhere I see it, Harlem and the Harlem Renaissance was a specifically an area and era infused with black people and black art.

 Anyway even The Great Gatsby did a better job of quickly portraying our importance and style in the Jazz era, and it wasnt even a movie about black people– it was specifically about rich white people.

That and Eddie seems to be portraying a Hufflepuff stereotype that looks as well written as Bella Swan from Twilight. It’s one thing when it was kids acting, but this guy has been nominated for a million awards and the trailers are just gross.
