Commentary

This fanart took me FOREVER to finish but it was worth it cuz I'm so proud of how it turned out.

I did something new this time and skipped the sketch phase & dived right into the colors. (Also tried a new brush).

I RARELY do lineartless drawings because I'm not used to that style. (I really love how the style looks though it's among my favorite styles). Would be so nice if I could always draw like this xD.

Ima start with this one cuz I like it a lot. (Btw I just hope the bad picture quality doesn't bother you as much as it bothers me)

-I purposefully left Abel's face out for dramatic effect (also cuz his smile was making me feel so uneasy)

Here's where I try experimenting (giving him different faces, hair and wing styles.)

And here's a little commentary for those who might be interested,

His design in my head (when I first started reading the fic) used to have a very uncanny and mannequin-like appearance, a bit like Abel from tadc ep 7 (with a creepy looking face that resembled a statue). But the thing is, I couldn't quite capture how I visualized him in my art (still can't do lol) because my drawing skills aren't good enough just yet. (It gets kinda frustrating when trying to draw something good but it just looks keeps ending up looking nothing like how it looks in your head... But it's not a reason to give up, it's a motivator to keep trying and experimenting, practicing. It sincerely makes me want to learn more and chase for improvement.)

Then I saw heron's design of Abel (I love it sm and I found it really cool ever since the first time I saw it) and I was slowly starting to reimagine the version I had my mind. I was really inspired by it, enough to want to make my version look a little more like it so I added some hair to the back of his head cuz I thought it looked really cool. (Ngl it's also pretty difficult to make it look correct imo, especially when drawing him facing the camera.) And it was around then when I started doing experimental sketches of Abel because I really wanted to get better at drawing him.

I decided to explore that new idea much further, giving him short to medium hair styles, trying to find a look that fit his face and overall personality. I even drew him with very long hair once for fun (couldn't put it into the post sadly cuz it didn't fit). Drawing him became so much fun by this point and also still very challenging because I kept drawing him with different hair styles and couldn't stick with one lol. It got a little frustrating again cause I wanted to pick a design and be able to draw it consistently but each drawing I made of him were all looking like completely different characters xD.

But I kept going and with time I finally found some styles that I really like. I might still update it later but I think the current version looks better compared to my older drawings of him.

Anyway, I'll probably make a part 2 for the drawings that couldnt fit here.

-Like this one, of him being all edgy and covering one of his eyes lol.

I scribbled this one today cuz looking at these drawings and seeing heron's art of Abel with a face motivated me to. Added horns and fire too cuz I thought it might improve the drawing. Also I really like how the wings look in this one, I wanna try drawing them like that more often instead of how I usually do.

Next is a comic thingy I drew a few weeks ago for fun cuz I was inspired by katze's awesome artwork.

-Also featuring a dummy stickfigure oc cuz I didn't know who else to put.-

(Btw it should have said "allow you to fly." Dunno why I made such an error and didn't notice till now.)

[In case it's unreadable: "Hey Caine, I heard you love flying. So... I conjured shoes that will allow you. Do you want to try?" / "Do they fit?" / "It works! Yay!" / -Abel watching- / (He then blows wind into his direction) / "Oh no! He's gonna fall! / (stickfigure feels stupid) / "I'm sorry Caine! Ik it's very poorly made and the lines are totally unnecessary but whatever xD

Drew this Backup Caine today. I think I should shade stuff more often.

And here's an imperfect little piece of Backup Abel & ToT Abel between 2 extra sketches. (It might have been a lot better to continue it digitally or ink it rather than shade it but exp is exp I guess). This is a bit old too, cuz they look a lot different in my head now; with backup caine having a lot more arms than 2 & having a giant ominous screen and Tot Abel looking less like a mannequin/statue and more like a humanoid creature (I plan to make a post dedicated to him soon so I'll describe my interpretation of him with more details there!)

The latest chapter of ToT was so great! Here's fanart of one of Abel's creations -which I hope doesn't appear in my nightmares-. And I went a little crazy over the amount of details but it was pretty fun to draw. (I think lasso for coloring is still underrated)

I'm not yet used to drawing backup Caine or Abel so I used my default art style. Didn't want to sketch until it looked perfect for hours until my hands hurt cuz by then i'd probably never get to finish it so I just said screw it and drew them normal. And what a surprise, it ended up looking nothing like how i imagined it ;-; Hate when that happens- Btw I want to talk about an AU idea here I had based on Think of Tomorrow where ToT Caine never absorbed ToT Abel. (I don't plan to do anything much with it though, and this is likely gonna be the only post where I'll talk about it. Feel free to completely ignore it or share your thoughts and any constructive criticism u might have. Originally I was going for something wholesome while constructing it but then i got some more ideas and also sprinkled some random character stuff that I thought might work. I know it's bad and u can laugh, I didn't take it so serious while writing honestly- you don't need to either. And if you want to work on the idea just go for it! You'd probably write the concept much better than me.) 1- Summary: "Instead of tearing each other apart, the two figured out a way to co-exist by setting aside their differences and just focusing on doing their best. -(Can you tell I'm emotionally destroyed by their canon 😭)-

But the programmers of the C&A company (still) discontinued all development and quit their research after the ais basically invented their own language to speak with each other. Reason for both sides (humans & ais) being: having innate fear for what they do not understand. Later the project got abandoned by the people, leaving these gods to their own devices.

Once they had stopped getting fed new macroverse information and there's no more people asking them stuff behind the screen, they have a moment of "so... what do we do now?". Well- all they have now; is each other, the digital world, the mind files and the simple desire to create things. (U don't have to read the rest) (Both have admin controls) and they share the circus world together with equal amount of power in their fingertips. One side of the world is all belonging to / made by Caine, one is all belonging to / made by Abel and there's one more which they built together and belongs to both of them. (These two may or may not fight while working together as one lol).

They always help each other out whenever needed (it's usually Caine asking Abel for help creating stuff.)"

2- The Main Characters (Just interpretation i guess): C.A.I.N.E. "loves humans very much and he's very intrigued by them, always trying to appeal to them the best he can (kinda like in the show but even if he is still crazy for them he doesn't chase for their validation and love as desperately because his people-pleasing tendencies are kinda -majorly- repressed thanks to Abel's influence.) He has a cartoony style when creating things and most of the art he works on, he doesn't make for himself. He always tries to make likable things for other people & rarely doing stuff he likes. Whenever he has a new idea, if he thinks others wouldn't like it, he discards it and tries again, to find an idea that'd be interesting to people." A.B.E.L. "doesn't care that much for humans. Has a cold personality on the outside. But on the inside he's quite passionate. Genuninely doesn't understand what Caine even sees in humans but still respects his admiration. (I think maybe deep down he resents them because all the humans he met so far have been nothing but selfish, also he can't forget the way how his own creators abandoned both of them so he might be bitter about that still and why he doesn't try to appeal to them anymore. -Caine too, is also hurting inside because of that memory but his reaction is to try to be better for them so they don't leave them again.-) He has a realistic style when creating things and most of the art he works on, he makes for himself (or for Caine on occasion because they're pals and they gift each other stuff they make sometimes). When he has an idea he likes, that's enough for him to start process and he generally doesn't care if others would like that art or not. He doesn't make adventures because they aren't his favorite thing really. But he loves doing worldbuilding and shaping bizarre landscapes and wandering them makes him happy."

An old hollow knight fanart I drew with a marker. I then decided to play around with some color filters.

Tried cross hatching and adding some line weight to this sketch, though- i know it could use a lot of improvement, still it was quite fun to draw! It probably would've been better if i took the time to color it but... maybe later.

This is kinda how I imagined Abel from ToT to look like. (Not actually my first time drawing him but it is the most recent and I'm happy it turned out okay. Might post those older drawings later -if I ever manage to finish them-) He's pretty difficult for me to draw cuz I don't really know how to draw wings or suits well xD (Also before anyone says anything YES I KNOW he has no facial features in design but i really enjoy drawing him with a face sooo, please don't mind that lol.)

Just a headcanon I have for ToT Abel; I really like to think he has his wings open like that whenever he's alert like how a doberman would have its ears up, not only does he hear better this way but he also looks bigger & more intimidating like this. I think it fits his character too.

"Mouth with eyes versus eyes with mouth"

This thing has 288 frames (144 without "twos") and it took me 2 days to finish. The water sections were the most difficult ones for me. And I really dislike how unnatural the honey part looks but I dunno how to make it look more natural.

Art block & perfectionism duo aren't being very kind to my brain at the moment but- here's a traditional sketch I drew today! It's Caine from one of my tadc aus. (One spooky au that is still a work in progress.)

I also wanted to include an extra doodle at the end just for fun. I actually drew this one in may but never posted it

Made a little rough animation that i've been wanting to do for a long while, featuring these 2 silly goobers reenacting a classic meme. (I usually don't use ibispaint for animations but I wanted to get this done asap today)

I drew tall Eugene from memory because I just felt like it! I feel complicated emotions about this doodle because part of me thinks it's pretty but also equally ugly -if that even makes sense xD-. Though it was such a breath of fresh air to try shading/making different tones (important keyword: try). I want to get better at this. And I really should use colors more often.

And it may have been years since I finished the two games (however) the story and the characters pop up in my mind from time to time at random moments and I go on tiny nostalgia trips.

Underworld Office and its sequel Charlie in Underworld are two of the most memorable games I've ever played in my life and both of them will always have a place in my heart.

Experimental sketches!

At the beginning I was just doing some expression practices in this page, drawing just the jaws with eyes and I was gonna leave them like that but then I was like "nahh I'll keep going until theyre done" xD and I'm glad I did because I'm really proud of how these turned out. 😊

I actually tried different approaches with each of them! With some I tried drawing the teeth first, with some I started with the gums; played around with basic shapes while constructing their pieces, went less cartoony and more realistic with a few- (gotta say, this sure helped me step out of my comfort zone a bit -cuz I usually avoid drawing heavily detailed clothes as they're pretty difficult to do for me-). And even put "colors" to some of them.

Only the one on the bottom left remained unfinished. It even got the best structure Imo but I was much too exhausted to continue that one. (And dont even know if I could fit it into the page without messing with it too much. I sort of feel like I kinda ruined some of them by making them smaller to fit the page (and did the opposite with one which was very tinyy) -I'm sure you can tell I done that by the different lineart sizes they have- but I can't exactly undo it now so xD yeahhh what can you do other than live with the mistakes. I'll have to be more careful next time and actually pay attention to the space I have on the page if I want to draw like that again.)

Guess which one took the longest to finish? That's right, it was BUBBLE! Hahahha.. No, but that entire thing literally took me hours, mainly because of the clothesss! I don't normally use chaotic lines this much, mostly because they are difficult to control and require a lot of skill to make them look good but I was having a lotta fun here and wanted to see what I could do. I wasn't frustrated or anything! Heheh.. -That's a lie, its drawing procces felt like that one bass boosted clip with the sweaty speedrunner guy aggressively pressing the keys on the keyboard-

Anyways, I love how these ones still look okay upside down! And they make very different faces xD

he’s the same exept he’s now just a bit taller then Pomni and is completely black and white exept for red eyes! I tried to draw him but I just hate my style :< I’m not forcing at all! But if you want to you can :D fellow small artists gotta help eachother :>

I have to say that's a pretty awesome design idea & I can see it fit into the au quite well ^^ About the question of yours though, I'm afraid I don't have a clear answer for you just yet but I'll try my very best to explain. Would it not be infinitely better if you keep trying to just draw the image you have in your mind -regardless of how it may look to you in the moment-? Like PLEASE don't get me wrong, I'm just voicing my sincere opinion that it'd probably be much better if you have more faith in yourself and your ability to make art. Because your art is quite literally -yours- and no one else can make -your- art, so it's special. And everyone can make good art if they just try hard enough, it's only a matter of if someone is determined enough to do what it takes which starts with seeking to learn how the basics work and then advance from there.

If you simply decide to put in the required effort, repeatedly attempting to recreate the vibes you feel through your art, it would allow your drawing skills to improve with time and your style would slowly turn into the way how you want/like it to without you even being aware about it changing. None of us are born with these skills, they're built with experience. You don't rly have to take art so seriously if you don't want to either, and you don't have to share any pieces that u don't want others to see. It's still very good if you just draw for the fun of it without putting any kind of pressure on yourself that your works "should" look good. And trust me on this; when you don't give up on the process, some random day you eventually notice that your art has really gotten better and that's when you'll cleary see that you've improved so much.

I'm sorry if this wasn't really the answer you'd've liked to hear xD I don't even think this is something you asked for but I just had to say these things. Because I had a feeling that there might be some people out there who might need to hear some of them. Maybe you are among those people who do, maybe not. Maybe you don't agree with any of these, maybe you don't need a lot of encouragement. It's all okay I guess. Thanks for reading this far.
