I feel like just giving up on everything

sometimes i get on here and immediately remember why tumblr feels like such a lost cause now. mentally it feels like nobody has moved on from 2016. we're still doing the same bullshit as we were a decade ago but it's worse because people still have this idea that they're particularly enlightened

people on twitter absolutely losing their minds about the mad king leaks meanwhile the only thing people are really concerned with is the fact it didn't validate their "and rhaegar was evil and actually the villain the whole time" delusional headcanons, as if it ever would. i am just so shocked to see people acting like a pillar of canon has been toppled but in reality they were just making that shit up to begin with. i don't know why "rhaegar is a loser!!" caught on and became such an emotional pillar for such a chunk of the fandom when there was no connection to the canon reality at all. rhaegar was tragic just like the rest of him but this idea he was an evil loser is something they made up in their heads and are now mad that their headcanons aren't canon
