The patient is prepped and “ready” for the procedure. If anyone can ever be ready to be consigned to a life in diapers regressed to babyhood again

The gas nurse presses the mask onto the helpless patient’s face

The strong rubber smell, the dry cold sweetish rush of nitrous oxide into her lungs and the claustrophobic pressing of the mask onto her face is too much for her.

She starts to panic

As she struggles, the nurse holds the mask firmly in place, as her colleague holds the patient down so that she she will absorb the nitrous as quickly as possible

The patient is still resisting her sedation.So nurse increases the strength of the nitrous oxide from 50% to 60%...

The patient starts tosettles down and give up the struggle and is now sedated enough to have the mask strapped firmly onto her face...

There, that's better - now it's time to deepen the sedation to full general anaesthesia.

The gas nurse adds 4% sevoflurane to push her deeper under.

The nurse will increase the volume of the sevoflurane to 7% shortly to ensure the patient is fully anaesthetised and ready for the regression procedure to occur. When she wakes up she will be back to babyhood!

"Yes, take deep breaths now."

"That’s it. Just breathe."

"Good. Feel your limbs going soft."

"Yes, no need to fight now .... Keep breathing and let go."
