Nobody here dare take him on half-heartedly

A lot of people are saying that finding out the truth about Touya and Endeavor’s abuse will lead to Hawks becoming a real villain, but I don’t think that’ll be the case. It’ll definitely be a massive blow, but here’s my idea:

What if the Hero Association knew all about Endeavor’s abuse the whole time? 

What if they’ve just been hiding it, being complicit in it, because Endeavor was good at his job and they wanted him (“needed him”) to stay?

If Hawks were to find out something like THAT on top of the actual domestic violence, spousal/child abuse, and Touya’s identity, that’d probably be the real catalyst to him doing a heel face turn and revisiting his moral obligations. 

The Hero Association groomed him to become a hero since he was a child. They raised him; they’re like his parents. His family. Endeavor’s just one person, so although Hawks did see him as a role model from childhood, hypothetically, he could still trust the others and the Association, right? That is, unless the Association was doing something just as morally sinister.

Hiding a high ranking hero’s violent abuse of his family for twenty-five years would be that something sinister that even Hawks, with his laidback personality, couldn’t passively accept.

Hawks aside, this could also bring some drama to the main characters’ plot. Assuming all of this goes public somehow, Midoriya and the next generation would have to face the Hero Association and bring it down to usher in a new era of peace and heroism. They’d have to literally change society as they know it.

The moral and ethical questions that come out of that would definitely make for good character development opportunities too– is it okay to go against the institution that’s been saving people for centuries? Does that make us villains, or are the real villains them for perpetuating inequality to maintain the current system of heroes and villains? 

So aside from making Hawks change his mind on society and bringing Shouto some more family angst, it’d be heart wrenching for all the others. It’d also finally make the story’s themes of modern society and the true definition of heroism come to light.
