Hellboy in Japan
Art by Peach Momoko Apparently the current creative team of Ultimate X-Men pitched a Hellboy in Japan mini back in 2019 but this artwork is about all that came from it. What could have been. From Zack Davisson's BlueSky account.

Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" Gets Manga Adaptation
Dark Horse has revealed that Gou Tanabe's manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space" is getting an English translation and release. The translation is by Zack Davisson.
"A surveyor examining a site for a new reservoir arrives at the bottom of a desolate valley in rural Massachusetts, a place even the inhabitants of witch-haunted Arkham speak of with fear. The “strange days” of the past in that area are best left alone and forgotten.
Surrounded by tangled and overgrown flora, a five-acre desolate void covered in a fine gray ash sits where a farm once stood. No wind, no life, nothing remains as the visiting surveyor discovers the story of what happened in 1882 from an aged survivor: out of a blue sky, something, a visitor, fell. As scientists gather to analyze the site where this “meteorite” landed, they find an object unlike any known element of the spectrum, which disappears in the lab. The mystery slowly becomes a horror for those who reside near this forsaken farm. The plants, animals, and even the people are twisted by the cosmic light and its unnatural blight that should have stayed hidden and buried." (Dark Horse)
H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space paperback goes on sale in bookstores on July 1, 2025, and in comic shops on July 2, 2025.

A HISTORY OF JAPAN IN MANGA
A cute story of Japan which makes you feel like you’re watching anime. The long and complex history which are summarised, focusing on key events and people that shaped the country to what it is today.
From the ancient times, when Japan was ruled by a Queen to the feudal era of Samurai, the rise of Imperialism to the modern day Japan that we know of today. Includes portraits, photos, maps and trivia.
It shows the hardship and resilience they went through since ancient times, faced with countless civil wars and natural disasters. How they cling to religion like Shintoism and Buddhism to ease the burden and suffering.
It is a good attempt to get people to be interested in reading history, especially the young, through visual reading that is simple enough to understand with the explanations and illustrations for every events.
It is a good read for someone with zero knowledge of history and wants to have an idea of the timeline. It is not as comprehensive as books but it is enough to equip you with basic knowledge.
As someone who reads the history, I know that it’s too long and complex to be shorten so there are a couple of details and people that are left out. Nonetheless would definitely recommend this to those interested in history.
