The second issue of Doomquest was a blast! Such a fun book so far!
I promise this is still a Stephen blog but bear with me!! I'll get to our wizard.
So Frank Tieri simply NAILED yet another bang for me and the 3 Doom 2099 fans out there.
Timeline here is a little weird with the 2099 main universe getting a few soft resets. plus that's definitely a different future from the og 2099, but it's a self-contained story that works (AND FIXES) most of my issues with OWUD.
In this timeline, Sorcerer Supreme Doom, refusing to accept his defeat at the end of the event (STEPHEN WITH HIS ASGARDIAN OUTFIT, RESPECTING THE ACTUAL CONTINUITY??? IN OUR 2026?? WHAT A DAY TO BE ALIVE), unleashed a spell so powerful that eliminated every living being on the Earth. Now he has to live with the consequences of this atrocity. Better yet, he wants to fix it.
After a wonderful and emotional plot twist caused by his own guilt and repressed feelings, he restores his time machine with Ultron's "help", but at the same, he gets stuck in the timestream.
What does that mean? That means... (as long as the book does well) that we will definitely have more stories of his adventures across the Marvel Universe. And if you take a closer look, you'll see Stephen there as well. So now I'm just manifesting with all my mystic might a new follow-up one-shot (or a mini-series, I'll take anything) exploring said adventures. More importantly, manifesting Stephen.
Because yeah, while I absolutely adore 616!Victor, I'm actually very exhausted of the constant mischaracterization to force the Doomtler agenda while also ignoring his past as a victim of racism, persecution and overall humanization as the complex villain that he is. One panel acknowledging that he cares for Latverians and it's already better than the main OWUD storyline.
And the possibility that I see my favorite version of Doom interacting with Stephen? Oh... That day, my friends... That day will be my last in this mortal flesh because I'll ascend.
Anyway, go support Frank Tieri, Jung-Geun Yoon, Von Randal, Andrew Dalhouse, Travis Lanham, and ESPECIALLY the editors Lauren Amaro and Mark Paniccia, who are under fire because of Disney's greed.
EDIT: I might be biased but #notice how Stephen's addition in this alt!OWUD resulted in Victor's defeat... Oh, Marvel, you're really showing the need for our beloved doctor to be cast aside in order to favor changes in the status quo, aren't you? π
Doom 2099 - Rage of Doom (2026)
Without spoiling, this is probably my new favorite issue of the Ultimates from the [new] Ultimate Universe.
The structure of its 4 panel pages with each row being a different point in time and divided into two flashback panels and two present-day panels, you can read the entire way through by just going across. 1st panel is represent of the past. 2nd panel represents the fate. 3rd panel represents the guilt. 4th panel represents the present.
The release date for this issue is prefect, this was released on the 4th of September, it would've been too perfect if this was released in April, as the 4th day of fourthΒ month, but still, it's brilliant.
