On the last day of training camp, the coaches held up the tradition of a good ol’ barbecue. While everyone else got ravenous, you were bummed to see Tsukishima frown.
Your boyfriend wasn’t a big eater, and events like this made it even more apparent to those around him, meaning more people felt inclined to force him into eating.
While everyone else feasted, Tsukishima couldn’t help how his eyes followed you from where he sat on the stairs going into the gym. You and Yachi were trying to reach for food, but constantly got cut off by freakishly tall teenage boys lacking any spatial awareness.
He considered it for a moment before getting up and walking over to Ennoshita, who was happily conversing with Fukunaga.
“Captain,” Tsuki started. “Did you see where they put the plates? I’m quite hungry.”
“You’re hungry? Let me get it for you!” That’s all it took for the team’s new dad to scramble around to get him a plate of food. Tsukishima didn’t have to do anything but wait with his arms stretched out until a much too full plate was tucked into his hands. “There you go, eat up!”
“Thanks.” With a smug smile, he snuck off to where the managers hung out, raising his eyebrows when he caught your eyes. “Here,” he said, holding the plate out. He had to use both hands to balance all that food, and drew a sharp breath when his fingers brushed against yours while handing it over.
Yachi gasped, hands shaking with excitement at the prospect of deliciously grilled food. You smiled and chuckled softly, taking the plate from him. “Thank you! Have you eaten as well?”
Tsuki shrugged, already turning away, lest he blow the cover of your secret affections. “I’ll have some too, don’t worry.”
