Is art meant to meaningful or to be made?

Is art just a drawing, or does it have to be something more?

Hmm... Art is a very difficult thing to describe with consistency. Anything can be art, but not everything is art. Art is often beautiful, but not all of it, and so are things that arent art.

I suppose... I would argue that art is something created to invoke an emotion. Whether the audience is just you, or the entire world. Whether the emotion is positive or negative or perfectly neutral. Whether the thing getting created is a masterstroke of paint, or a simple joke in the mirror.

Is meaning inherent to art? Well, what doesnt have meaning? Every little thing in the entire universe matters to something, even if neither thing could ever realize that. A random little joke doesnt have meaning, but doesnt it? Is it not meaningful to wish to make someone laugh?

I think art is meant to inspire. Whether what it is inspiring is joy, or anger, or creativity or sadness or love or thought or anything you could think of.

Art is everywhere you look, but it is not everything. To speak is not a form of art in itself, but speech absolutely is. Writing is not art, but what you are writing is.

anyway i now believe that those people are thinking of The Character not as a fictional character, but as a person whose worth and ability to provide joy can be negatively impacted by immoral actions.

very very frustrating behavior. no dude i swear to god the flaws are the POINT. the FRICTION is the POINT characters cannot all be sharks in the ocean perfect and smooth like spongebob roundpants—there would be no plot and room for development in that case!
