summary: Xavi comes on the radio to calm Junior down
Xavi was on his feet the second the race engineer mentioned Junior’s name, the rest of the words melting into nothingness as he tried to process that Junior was panicking
“let me speak to him” Xavi says once his words comes back to him
the race engineer shrugs, handing Xavi his headsets
“buba?” Xavi’s voice crackles through the radio “Junior talk to me”
“papa i’m scared” Junior’s voice says “i don’t want to make you and mom disappointed”
“Junior” Xavi breathes out shutting his eyes “your mom and I will always be proud of you, no matter where you finish, we’re always going to support you and your ventures”
“even uncle Max is so proud of you” Xavi finishes off
the line goes quiet, Xavi straining his hearing to hear gauge where Juniot is
“he’s climbing” the race engineer says making Xavi’s eyes lift to the screen where Junior’s car is seen climbing from P8 through the ranks
“he’s doing it” Xavi whispers “oh my God, go on buddy!”
everyone in the garage is watching with wide eyes as Junior passes his opponents, running through until he reaches the finishline and finishing off at P2. Xavi’s out of the garage before Junior can get out of the kart, being pulled out by his estatic father.
“i’m so proud of you buddy!” Xavi yells spinning the boy
“papa i’m gonna be sick” Junior giggles gripping his father
“sorry” Xavi says switching to kisses all over his sons face “lets go collect your trophy!”
“papa” Junior says stopping Xavi in his tracks
“thank you” he says offering his dad a soft smile which he returns
“anything for you my lief” Xavi smiles kissing his forehead
