what is the current word count on your main wip?

mine is 33,260 on The Haunting of Miss Caroline Marsden

and 24,773 on The Dead End

I know the principle of it- tackle the big plot notes first, then do the prose pass, then final clean-up, etc. I just feel like I’m circling a bit on ARMV/doing multiple layered passes, and it makes it feel like I’m taking freaking forever to get it right!

I envy those who put down an outline and write their scenes in order but I could never do that :/ I would write chapter 2, then go to chapter 13, and scenes initially written for chapter 3 ends up in chapter 5... my writing is a whole mess and it’s incredibly difficult to manage in one word document.

I used trial version of Scrivener and I really loved it, but I can’t spare that money at this very moment.

I've been jumping between narrative tenses in Monarch, and was wondering about keeping Crystal in first person but having everyone else in third. I'm hoping this will work because everything is more or less centered on her but don't really have any frame of reference for how it will work.

What do you guys think? And have you read anything that did something similar?
