My current main project is The Moonlit Path:

The Moonlit Path is a sci-fi/fantasy anthology of short stories/novellas. On the galactic level, Kingdoms rise and fall, Empires subjugate LIBERATE and consume, and Planetary societies fall into ruin. However, there is no chosen one to save the universe. Just a handful of aliens trying to do their best and caught up in the claws of the powers that be.

I'm just wondering if anyone in the writeblr community has used betabooks.com for beta readers? If so, how did it work out?

I'm kinda considering going there. But I often backed out bc I'm not intending to go into publishing. And it'd probs be a waste of time for those readers who might be more interested in writers who intend to publish their books later on. 🤔

I should've said this a long, long time ago, but never really had the courage, unfortunately. I was there when battleborn was still playable, and when your pendles ask blog was still active. I'd spend hours just reading your work and appreciating the fact that someone out there really loved the same character as me. I sincerely hope that you won't ever delete that blog, but of course, it's completely understandable if you do someday. There's truly no words to describe how much I love and miss that snake, and how much I adore your work. I don't even know if this blog is active but if you're seeing this, please keep being awesome! :'-)

This message hit me like a truck, in a good way. First: I have no intentions of deleting the pendles-is-friendles blog or any of its associated blogs. (I also had Alani and a bunch of OCs like earl-the-bastard too). Anything missing from them is unfortunately due to Tumblr's automatic process of scrubbing NSFW content. I backed these up to the best of my ability before the porn purge of 2018. And thank you! It does take a lot of courage for saying something and I deeply appreciate it. I miss Pendles dearly. To this day: I still go by Pendles in a lot of spaces, but now with people who don't even know what a Battleborn is. He made my writing better, my art better, and so much more.

I miss the friends I've made that disappeared or drifted away over time.

I miss the culture of Tumblr at the time, where it was a bunch of nerds geeking out about their characters and being unafraid to push them in unique and fun ways. I miss the OCs. I constantly wonder how people that disappeared are doing, if they moved on to bigger and better things, etc. I CHERISH the people that I still talk to from then.

It's kind of crazy to think of how long ago that all was.

As for whether this particular blog is active... I still reblog stuff to the main blog for this account @kashas-stuff. I'm still writing Moonlit Path related stuff, though roleplaying mostly in private as the OCs. I cross-posted a lot of the fics to AO3 here https://archiveofourown.org/users/Pendles_is_friendles/works. There's some original content and OC content there, but it's a backup. There is one explicit Moonlit Path work there too, as a head's up.

As for future work... I want to get Moonlit Path out. I swear, if you loved my Battleborn stuff, you'll love it too. I pulled so much inspiration from Battleborn and incorporated my headcanons and such (giant snake gods? Clones? Big horny guys? Violence, trauma, and healing from it?) along with a whole bunch of new things.

I just kind of have to figure out how to get that interaction that inspired me so much before.

This may come across as judgmental and I swear it’s not meant to be. I just figured I would ask.

Is there anyone on here (here being the writing side of tumblr) who isn’t writing YA, fantasy, fanfiction, or a mixture of all? So many things I come across tagged “writeblr” and similar things are 9.9/10 one or more of those three genres.

This is great, of course! We love all three—but I’m looking for writing people outside of those genres. I have two very talented friends who write fantasy adventure and I’m looking for something a little different in another sphere to keep my brain occupied. For example, I write a lot of historical fiction. Anyone specializing in that here?

I just figured I would put out feelers.

Pros:

While he's a Hirudian Warlord, he looks the other way for people he cares about and will ignore orders to protect them.

He's very protective of his loved ones too.

He's a seasoned stud and knows how to handle himself for his size.

He's not used to being tolerated, let alone liked, so even the smallest kindness wins him over.

Cons:

He is a Hirudian Warlord and still deep in that propaganda sauce. This led to him getting Vocatia's neck on the chopping block (she survives obvs)

The chip on his shoulder has its own orbit.

Starts off with an alcoholism problem, but it gets better when he gets cursed.

Btw, he has a contagious immortality curse after a point.

Neutral:

The man's 10ft 2in tall and doesn't have a lot of body fat (The diet in the service is very lean and famously tastes terrible. Then the curse low-key freezes him in that slightly malnourished state).

Her body is soft, she has a lot of muscle with a good layer of fat. Optimal cuddles.

She is strong. Free snacks from the vending machine... mostly because she picked it up and shook it.

Out of the Vactyr, she's one of the few within reasonable human size range.

You will get a feast afterwards.

Cons:

She weighs 1500lbs, so you're either on top or getting death by snu-snu.

It will take a lot of patience and dedication to get close to smashing. She demands respect and tender love every step of the way.

Her hooves and horns are sharp and might have some traces of blood in them. Same with her teeth.

Neutral:

Vocatia is so mom-coded. And, I'll do links for the spicier OCs, but Vo's so vanilla and is set up like you'd expect out of a mammalian cis female.

Put your nonhuman whumpee out in the cold today!

Currently thinking about a whumpee who is a different species from the rest of their team, and whumpee’s species happens to be extremely sensitive to cold. Bonus point if the team doesn’t know this and whumpee doesn’t tell them because they don’t want to be annoying.

For whatever reason, everyone has to spend a long time outside in winter. Maybe they’re traveling through a snowy landscape.

Whumpee is falling behind. They can’t stop shivering. Their hands and feet have gone numb. The rest of the team treks on, unaware and unbothered, and whumpee refuses to become a burden on them by complaining about a little cold.

So of course, no one notices that whumpee is doing Bad until they’ve collapsed in the snow.

“Whumpee! Hold up everyone! Hey, what happened? Whumpee? Can you hear me? Healer, get over here!”

Cue a frantic rush to get them inside or by a fire before the cold finishes them for good.
