okay so sorry if this is a stupid question (I certainly feel stupid asking it) but how does the show don't tell thing actually work? because it's.. it's writing. i'm telling you everything. they are words. words are telling.
i know I am taking this way too literally but I genuinely struggle with understanding this. I think it's something like
tell: "The book on the table is old."
vs.
show: "The book's cover was worn and faded. The spine was cracked and its yellow pages were starting to fall away from it. When she opened it the pages crinkled softly and she saw the ink was faded and difficult to read."
(yes I know it's shit but I am tired and not trying to create a masterpiece for what feels like a shitpost already)
so, like, I think I understand it and I know which one I prefer doing (the second one) but it's still... I'm still telling you just with different words.
so, yes, stupid question but a genuine question and if anyone has an answer I would love to hear it
complete 180 from my previous posts but
does anyone have any sources on the history of people's understanding of the tectonic plates? wikipedia has pretty much nothing on the 1980s period and i need to know what a school atlas of that time would teach children
probably american atlas? i don't really know where the story takes place but it's pretty western so either the usa or west-europe.
I have a question
If my sona/avatar starts to develop a backstory and a different personality, is it still your sona or is it considered as a new character?
How do people write long, plot driven x reader fics while keeping the reader vague enough?? I have an idea but the reader would need so much backstory I feel like it’s veering into x OC territory…

Everytime I show people my writing for Ocs they say I'd "be a God if I joined ao3" or something like that, but the thing is I've never actually posted fanfiction before 😭💔 and when I tried I immediately gave up cause I thought it wasn't that good 😔
Idk, I have some of my writing on my straw page if anyone wants to check it out
thecoden's strawpage
Quincy's Hair
So, I need a bit of help with my fic. Nothing big, but I realized I'm not 100% sure of the style of hair Quincy has. I could guess, but I'd rather ask than assume. Obviously there's braiding, but I'm not sure which type for each--the ones against the scalp and the ones in front. (Yes, I have googled this, but I'm still not certian. >.<)
Damnit, Quincy, why do you have to be so damn gorgeous? And you know, of course, he's 100% aware of it too. Ugh. -grumbles- Handsome as fuck bastard.
