🏆 What Are They Fighting For -

Ok so fun thing about Lavender and company is in achieving their short term goal (rescue the king and queen) they're also fulfilling a series of 3 dimensional chess goals for the anti-Imperial front that they don't even know about yet. Essentially their shenanigans in the time travel arc sets a bunch of stuff in motion that will eventually create the best possible front for bringing Valdis down.

There's a whole ecosystem at work trying to surgically remove Valdis and her most dangerous/influential cronies without causing too much strife on the common folk. WQW won't end in a big nasty war because the goal for the fight against Svarstany isn't to raise a big army to reconquer the continent and magically restoring it to what it was. It's all about 'cut off the head and the body will die' because Valdis' empire is held together by her sheer dominant force. Eventually Team Purple will link up with the vast network of anti -Valdis groups (not all of them get along, it's a mess).

⛪ Religions -

Religion varies a lot in this world. There's mountains of gods but no unifying power structure because the gods are forces of nature or manifestations of experiences. The kind of worship practices vary a lot, usually influenced by where they crop up.

EXAMPLES:

In Maristelle, which is a huge trade hub there's a lot of religions practiced freely and openly because so many kinds of people pass through there. The royal family worships the god of the sea, ships, and voyagers which technically makes it the state religion. It's practiced very loosely and manifests in stuff like medallions and little charms.

In Aefentide before it fell, it was strict Cormillianism and treated almost monotheistically even though in this world there's empirical proof of most of the gods. But part of that is because it's built on mountains and moors and people are a lot more isolated. They just devote really hard to Cormillia (and are honestly pretty ballsy about it towards the end as they circle the drain). Imagine reading a DND manual and taking it for the bible, then getting mad when other people don't take it nearly as seriously as you.

You could also be an atheist, like Delph. Which in this world doesn't mean you don't believe the gods exist. It just means you don't worship any.
