i. maybe we're all just trying too hard
To fill someone else's shoes,
building castles for someone else
to knock down,
and maybe my feet are too small, my hands too cold to complete, to be a part, of anything
ii. Because I like to pretend
I'm a wolf; dangerous, fearless, untamed,
But I've been captive my whole life,
silver chains wrapped 'round my vision,
Sparkling, so soft in my fur,
(" you were not born to run with the pack")
Then why do I hear them, wild whispers,
a song of the city so strong that it echos through and round, and down to my spine
("chase me, chase me, jump down and run with me")
iii. I've been captured my whole life,
Like a star that's kept distant and dying
too high to touch the earth, you can only watch, speechless, and crumble
I know there's too much of the wild in me to stay,
But what if I'm too frightened to let go?
