This one took me a literal year to write in between all of the other ideas that took over, most of which y’all have already read haha! But I am super happy to have finished it and I really hope y’all will like it!!

I’m gonna stick with every Friday updates for this fic too, it worked really well for Critical Success and I’m comfy in the routine, so ☺️

Chapter 10 of Wasted Youth

Chapter Title: like it’s no big deal

Last week in Wasted Youth...

Despite how busy she's been working and writing songs, Vi took some time to go to Dyke Night at Bab's, totally not at all because Caitlyn was going to be working. She definitely got herself into more than she bargained for, which she started to realize after accidentally becoming the spotlight thanks to one stripper dancing to Pussy Is God, and was further confirmed when Caitlyn's jealousy flared up. One thing led to another, and they're agreeing to talk about "it" later before some casual mutual masturbation—and basically, Vi is hanging by a thread at this point.

But... what exactly is going through Caitlyn's head?

After Verso joined and I realized he reuses Gustave’s weapons??? which for “some reason” never had cool abilities tied to leveling it up UNTIL VERSO IS USING IT. like oKAY maybe I should have realized, on top of how small his skill tree is???? BUT😭😭 my god my poor little broken hearted Maelle losing the one person she considered family😭 god SOMEONE give her a fucking break 😭😭😭

Last week in Wasted Youth...

Caitlyn had her audition with Mel for a little gig teaching a beginner contemporary dance class, and it went very well! To celebrate, she invited Vi to get high with her, and the two of them spent an evening being shockingly honest and open with each other. That worked out very nicely for the song Vi's been working on, Beige, and only served to deepen her affections for the beautiful dancer.

Last week in Wasted Youth... After Vi and Caitlyn refusing to open up to each other led to a sudden, tense fight, Vi's emotions ended up pouring out of her and into her song notebook—finally. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the singer, Caitlyn's downward spiral only worsened, officially rendering her homeless with no one to turn to except for the woman whose music has kept her going all this time.

I don't know if you've answered this before or it's in the later part of the fic but if Caitlyn were a player, what class/race would her character be? What would be her play style and what would she name her character? Perhaps her character before she became a DM herself? Thanks so much for writing the fic that got me back into d&d!!! It is a black hole!!!

I struggle with picking a class for Cait which is why I loved making her a DM instead 🤣 I think if I was building a character inspired by Canon Arcane Caitlyn, I might pick Arcane Archer Fighter, but I also could see her as a wizard👀 realistically to Critical Success, though, I think she would develop a story first and then choose race and class based on that. I think when DMing she has NPCs with complex character backgrounds that don’t always come to light for her players due to the nature of D&D and improvisation, so she probably chooses something she hasn’t gotten to explore as much as she wanted to build a character of her own.

As far as play style, I think she’s super strategic and thoughtful, and she will be quiet while she is tactically analyzing and planning. But when she does start talking, she has her whole plan outlined and she comes up with things that are technically allowed but are very complicated haha. If you’ve watched Dimension 20, I think she gives some Siobhan Thompson vibes maybe mixed with Brennan Lee Mulligan as a player hahahaha!

As for naming her character, she either picks names that are inspired by her character’s race or backstory or where they come from—she definitely talks to the DM to understand the world and make sure that her character fits in. When she has the opportunity, she loves to choose names inspired by Asian languages!

I haven’t thought about characters she’s played before but now I will be haha!! I hope to eventually write more for these two to include some of Cait playing! 🤞🏻👀
