Ser Woad, at your service!
Researchers from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice have discovered traces of indigo on Paleolithic stone tools.
This I find fascinating, that paleolithic peoples used woad to make indigo is significantly more technically advanced than previously thought.

When I was maybe 11, I read/listened to "gathering blue" by Lois Lowery. It's a great post apocalyptic book about dyeing (fabric)
Anyways the book was about, among other things, finding a naturally occurring blue dye.
That dye turned out to be woad. And I remember that I was suprized it wasn't indigo. Which is a much more famous naturally occurring blue dye.
Now 25 year on a famous in death of social media hell, I am no longer suprized that the blue dye was woad. The story simply wouldn't have worked if it required both the plant and the dyemaking instructions.
That moment on a trip when you realize that thing you were forgetting to pack was your woad.
