So I just got back from picking up my mom from the airport because she went to the states to do some training. She bought us stuff so Imma show you my favorites.
I got a bunch of Wishables plushies cause they were apparently selling them real cheap.
We got Oogie Boogie
Ice cream
This one was from a blind bag
And a Toy Soldier. @w-e-e-n-i-e we can be twinsies now!
We going to some Disney World parks so we got some magic bands. I chose the rainbow one to fulfill my gay agenda
I got some minifigures. I got Green Lantern and Sally
Bonus: Jack and Sally reuniting
So, there’s a Tower plush now!? And something’s odd about how it’s listed on the packaging...
While I'm not a fan of this blind bag "Wishables" thing (blind bags are a shameless cash grab I vehemently dislike), I couldn't resist getting a Tower one! And I got it at Anaheim Disneyland too! Many thanks to the shop attendant for helping me squish the bags until we figured out which bag had a Tower. As she explained, those wanting their own Tower plush should get a “Park Icons Series” bag and feel for a big boxy shape but a distinct nub/point at the top. It should feel big compared to the other icons, like it fills the whole bag.
As for my informal review, and some odd things I noticed...
It's not the best likeness (it's not pink enough for Florida, at the very least), but it surprisingly does remember to include Florida's box shaped base in the back, which I wasn't expecting. Not sure how I feel about the smirk either, given that it's the only attraction to not have a cutesy smile instead (EDIT: just realized that the Pal-A-Round has a second face on the back with its tongue sticking out, but the main face on the front is a cutesy smile). It is, however, recognizable, and equally stylized as the rest of the available icons.
It's small for how much it costs ($10 for a handheld sized plush), but at least it’s very pleasantly soft and squishy. Disney plush in general has gotten pricey at the parks ($20 being the informal average I noticed), so at least it’s less than a lot of other souvenirs being sold there. That $10 was worth it for Tower merch I can still get in California, though, as well as the novelty of being a squishy plush of an ominous haunted Gothic building (you don’t see many plushes of those, really).
Also worth noting is how this plush is named. On the back of the package, all of the possible blind bag designs are shown and named. The other ones have their proper attraction names (albeit all awkwardly followed by “attraction”): Spaceship Earth, Tree of Life, and Pixar Pal-A-Round. However, Tower of Terror isn’t named as such, instead being called “Hollywood Tower Hotel Attraction”. Which is kinda weird.
Does Disney have to pay royalties to even name it “Tower of Terror” (not even “Twilight Zone Tower of Terror”)? That makes no sense, given that the Tokyo version seemingly has no issues with that name. If not, why is it the only park icon not given its actual attraction name? Especially since “Tower of Terror” is probably the more familiar name, and also shorter to write? And it’s The Hollywood Tower Hotel, thank you very much.
Okay, okay, it’s just the merch department, it probably doesn’t mean much. But you have to admit, it’s at least a little odd.
Disney Park’s Wishables Stitch Micro Plush
I know I am reporting late to this, It was sent out last Wednesday but Disney has another small plushie fad features Stitch. They are considered micro plush like ‘Tiny Big Feet’ but without the ‘feet’ fixation. You see see a little ‘sparkle’ in the eye is that the wish making sparkle? I have no idea but it is selling here for $9.99
Stitch is an open edition so you dont have to ‘blind bag’ style find him like some other Disney character sets.
