1. When starting something new, how much do you know about the story before you start writing?
Depends on how out of order my thought process is. Most times I tend to wing it, but if I take the time to draw things out, I can know everything about the main characters and a general plot-line for them and where I want them to end up. Kind of put myself in their shoes, as if I am going to roleplay them.
2. What draws you to your WIP(s)? Why did you choose to write that/those over anything else?
Usually the jumbled mess of a plot tends to stick out to me. I enjoy telling the tangled stories of characters when I was roleplaying them and with all that I've done in the last few years in the roleplaying community, I could write a book/series about them. And I am. I want to share these stories with people who have an interest in fantasy settings with weird names and strange words for months and days. A whole world for people to imagine the characters in. And somehow imagine a piece of themselves getting lost in the vast world of Vennadore.
3. Favorite writing spot? Why?
Currently it is in the living room or the spare bedroom because it is too hot in my bedroom. Summer is starting to dwindle away but not without givine all of S. Aus a massive heatwave. And also cos it's a "new" place besides my desk where I spend most of my time watching youtube or jotting down world notes to add to the Vennadore LotGD site.
4. Share you favorite line of what you’ve written so far!
Oh boy.. I haven't written much and I've either hit a block or I'm completely stuck (there's a term floating around here and I can't remember it for the life of me) creatively. So here's my favorite so far:
"... And Elidia.. Sweet Elidia. She was taken away from them too soon. Condemned for a life she didn’t even lead. What a happy family they had. ..."
5. If you had to choose one OC to bring to life as an actual person, which one would it be and why?
Eyes her OCs suspiciously.
Ummm.. that's actually quite hard, considering most of them are quite terrible people. But if I had to choose, I would pick Solandis, the wife of Captain Isolah. She chose love over money and family. Her family didn't approve of the Captain and her lifestyle as a pirate. Especially her sexuality. Solandis removed herself from that toxic household and did what was best for her and her existing relationship with Isolah.
6. Are you looking to get published? If so, do you hope to make it a career?
Eventually.. I would want to make sure that all the stories are completed first and have a separate book on the lore of Vennadore to tie everything together. As for a career, I try not to worry about what my career will be in the future since I can't always control it. I still wish to be a music teacher, but I definitely could see me becoming a published author alongside it.
7. What’s something you would read but would never write (or the other way around)? Any reason?
I don't mind writing smut, but I cannot read it. Most times, it's just horrible and poorly written. But anything else, I don't know. I'd like to think I would expand my writing boarders a bit and touch a bit here and there and see what I am good at and what I'm not.
8. What’s something you are most proud of about your work so far?
The Map and the (unfinished) lore. That's the biggest part of Vennadore and what makes it what it is.
9. Badly describe your WIP(s) in one sentence.
Girl gets kidnapped and somehow becomes part of a pirate crew inorder to obtain her freedom.
10. Why did you want to be a writer?
I've always enjoyed writing fun stories, mostly fantasy short stories, as a kid and after high school the hobby kind of dropped because of how much stress I was put under with my AP classes and the focus of getting into college (SPOILER: I only did one year and had to drop out due to financial reasons). And now on my own in another country, my creativity has sparked again. It's flickering and goes out sometimes, but I always find my way back to it and pick it back up.
I am going to tag: @isanyonetoknow, @metaphors-and-melodrama, @mvcreates, @fourohfourlifenotfound and anyone who would like join in on the fun!
