i plan to draw more snufmin but in the meantime here's this doodle i did in class
i colored it i swear but the meeting ended before i could screenshot it
That previous fic I reblogged reminded me of some fic doodle I did years ago and never finished. One of the very first Snufmin things I wrote! Not sure if I posted it or not, if I did I didn't tag it 'cause it's not in my tags. Anyway, I thought I'd post it now.

"Hey! Hey, Moomin! Hello up there!"
"Hello there, Little My!"
About two thirds up a birch tree, Moomin twisted around and waved down below. Little My hopped up and down impatiently.
"Come down here, I got somethin' to tell you!"
"Oh, okay. Why don't you come up here though? It's a nice view!"
"No, you come down here! And hurry up, you're gonna wanna hear this!"
HAPPY SPRING !!!â
Iâve seen people post their fanfics here, and as I donât have any websites to post mine, Iâll be showing it here.
Springtime, the point in the year when the days begin to grow longer, and the plants start to rise.
Moomintroll had always admired spring in all its freedom, always coming and going as it pleased, never arriving on the same day.
And with spring came Moominâs dearest friend, Snufkin, a vagabond who spent his winter travelling along valleys and streams. He had arrived in Moominvalley a few days ago, following the sun towards the bridge as always, Moomintroll standing there waiting.
The weather over the last few days had been quite rough; the rain poured, and the tides raged. Though today, the sun had shown, casting its vibrant rays upon the freshly grown grass of the valley. Moomin and Snufkin would finally be able to go on a proper adventure, and Moomin was eagerly impatient.
The soft spring sun had pooled in through Moominâs window, hitting upon his snout as he lay. âGood lord, thatâs brightâŠâ he groaned, covering his eyes with his arm.
He moaned once more before nearly jumping out of bed. âThe sun! The sun has finally come!â realization hit him near immediately,
âOh, what wonder.â he smiled softly, heading for the stairs.
âMoomin dear, is that you?â Moominmamma called out from the kitchen, âYes, Mamma, Iâll be going out to see Snufkin,â he shouted, âOh, but you havenât even had breakfast!â Moominmamma stated, her voice laced slightly with concern.
âI know, Iâm sure Snufkin will have something. If not, Iâll eat once I get back.â Moomin said, stepping out the front door, âAlright, have fun then, dear!â
Snufkin was sitting down by the riverbank, casting the line of his fishing rod into the stream and humming a tune quietly to himself.
âSnufkin! There you are!â Moomin ran down towards him, âMoomintroll, what a surprise!â Snufkin turned his head to face him as Moomin sat down on the grass beside him.
âHow are you? Weatherâs nice, isnât it?â Moomin smiled widely, âIt is. The tides are a bit too high to catch anything though.â Snufkin sighed.
âAh, I see.âMoomin chuckled slightly, âThe flowers on your hat are rather wilted,â the Moomin inquired, âI suppose they are, they were pretty ragged when I picked them back in autumn.â Snufkin reached to pull the hat off his head.
âWe could pick some new ones if youâd like! I know of a lovely meadow not too far from here.â Moomin was eager for any sort of trip with Snufkin. âThat would be wonderful, though I must admit, Iâm a bit peckish.â
Snufkin stood, offering his paw out to Moomin. âIâm sure Mamma would be glad to have you for breakfast.â The Mumrik nodded as the Moomin took his paw, the two slowly headed for Moominhouse, just as cheerful as they were starved.
âMamma, is it alright if Snufkin stays for breakfast?â
Moomin stepped in through the door, âOf course, dear. How are you, Snufkin?â Moominmamma smiled, setting down their portions on the table.
âIâm doing well, thank you for having me.â Snufkin sat down next to Moomin, eyeing the plate in front of him.
âThere you are. Thought the two of you had run away.â Little My chuckled at her own statement, skipping down the stairs.
âGood morning My, nice of you to join us. Is Pappa awake yet?â Moominmamma gestured for Little My to sit beside the two,
âNope, heâs out like a light. He was up all night writing, said something about the Muskrat enlightening him,â she groaned and sat down at the table, immediately grabbing a fork to take a bite of the pancakes.
âSo, what are the plans for today?â Little My took interest in Moomin and Snufkinâs trip, âAre we doing anything interesting?â
âWell, we were hoping to pick some flowers for Snufkinâs hat.â Moomin was clearly unpleased with the idea of Little My going with them.
âHow boring! What happened to sailing or going camping!â the mymble shouted out, âNever said you have to come.â Moomin said under his breath.
Little My rolled her eyes, âIf you lot arenât interested, then Iâm sure Snorkmaiden will be!â she scoffed, hopping down from the chair and heading out of the house.
âSomebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed.â Moomin sighed, slightly annoyed,
âSheâs always a bit cross the first few days of spring, itâll wear down soon,â Snufkin said, amused. âCome on now, weâd better go soon. Thank you for the food, Moominmamma.â
Moomin was still a bit shaken, but was no doubt thrilled to get going. âGuess youâre right. It isnât too far, and the forest leading up to it is wonderful.â
Moomin stood up, satisfied with his meal, âI have a few things to grab from my room, Iâll only be a minute!â and so, he rushed up the stairs towards the top floor.
âOh, how excitable. I suppose you two wouldnât mind looking for tulips? Iâve been meaning to give some to Pappa, though the ones in my garden havenât quite blossomed yet.â
Moominmamma smiled softly at Snufkin, âOf course not, theyâll make a lovely gift, Moominmamma.â Snufkin smiled back at her, âThank you, dear,â she spoke.
âOk.. Iâve got.. what I need..!â Moomin hollered out from the stairway, trying to catch his breath from running up and down them.âAlright, let us head out then.â the two exchanged a nod, and with that, left Moominhouse, ready for their short trip.
âSo, whatâs all this for?â Snufkin had taken hold of a few items Moomin had grabbed from his room, stuffing them in his rucksack.
âWell, I thought some of it would look nice on your hat.â Moomin had picked a plethora of trinkets and charms, buttons, old fishing hooks, miscellaneous pieces of string and ribbon, upon so much more.
âThought it could be a pleasant reminder of the valley for when you travel South,â he commented.
Moomin knew Snufkin wasnât one for material possessions, but they were small, and with sentimental value, perhaps he wouldnât mind.
âI see, thank you, Moomintroll.â Snufkin said with little to indicate how he felt, âYou donât seem too thrilled. Did I upset you?â Moomin seemed concerned,
âOh no, of course not. Iâm sure Iâll find use for them in my travels. And if not, theyâll make for a wonderful craft.â Snufkin chuckled, assuring Moomin.
The path the two had taken was thick and overgrown. Tall, full vines wrapped around bushy trees, cascading down into the dirt, claiming the land as its own. The soil was rich and arid, letting off a comforting aroma as it clumped beneath their shoes.
They neared a short clearing, a sort of archway formed from trees leading down into the meadow,
âThis is it! Oh, I know youâll love it!â Moomin giddily declared, grabbing Snufkinâs paw and guiding him under the arch.
The meadow was lush and full of beaming flowers; it stretched out far beyond what they could see and let off such a breathtaking perfume.
âHow utterly bewitching.â Snufkin muttered, amazed, âWhatâre you doing just standing there? Come on!â Moomin pulled Snufkin further out into the meadow.
The mumrikâs eye caught hold of a gathering of primroses, âOh my,â he sighed, âwhat a soft yellow.â Moomin crouched down next to him, âPrimroses? Iâm sure those will look beautiful on your hat,â he said. Snufkin gathered a few and held them tightly in his hands,
âOh! Oh! How about these?â Moomin rushed over to a bunch of small white blossoms. âAh, snowdrops.â Snufkin smiled, âThere sure are quite a few.â Moomin observed, âMakes sense, they are a symbol of spring after all.â Snufkin chuckled and picked a number of them.
âI think daisies would look rather nice,â Moomin spoke, pointing at a few. Snufkin walked over and grabbed what he could.
âThat should be enough for me.â Snufkin stated, âThough Moominmamma had asked me to gather some tulips for her,â he spoke, âI saw a few back down towards the forest, we can grab some on the way back.â
Moomin sat down in the grass, and Snufkin lay down next to him. âPass me the flowers, SnufâSnufkin handed them over to Moomin,
âItâs been a minute since Iâve made a flower crown,â he laughed, twisting the stems in knots. Snufkin smiled, but stayed silent, taking the landscape in. They sat in each otherâs presence for the time it took, until finally,
âThere! Sit up for a moment.â Moomin said excitedly. Snufkin sat up, seemingly like he just woke up, and leaned back on his elbows.
Moomin placed the flower crown upon the brim of his hat. It truly was a gorgeous array.
âOh, it looks wonderful!â Moomin beamed, âThank you, my dove.â Snufkin leaned forward and pecked Moomin on the snout. Moomin chuckled giddily, a freckled blush spreading across his face.
The pair lay on the grass for a while, their arms and tails tangled and faces hot from the sun.
They had been out of the house for a few hours by now, and although neither of them minded, Moomin knew his mother would start to get worried soon.
âWe should probably head back, Mamma may be waiting for us.â Moomin spoke, pink in the face, âSuppose youâre right.â Snufkin stood slowly, yawned, and turned to face the forest.
âFinally back, eh?â Little My sat on the stairs of Moominhouse, Snorkmaiden sat next to her. âSnorkmaiden and I had a lovely day without the two of you,â she snipped.
âThatâs good to hear, My.â Snufkin said, ignoring the annoyance in her voice, âWelcome back, dears.â Moominmamma stepped out of the house, carrying a tray of tea. âThere should be enough tea in the kettle for both of you,â she spoke, setting the tray down.
âNow, how was it? I see the flower picking went well,â she questioned, âOh, it was remarkable!â Moomin beamed, âIt truly was. Oh, here are the tulips you requested, Moominmamma.â Snufkin handed the flowers to her.
âOh, thank you, these are lovely!â Moominmamma laid the flowers down on the steps; she would give them to Moominpappa once he woke.
âNow, join us for tea,â she gestured for the two to sit, to which they obliged. Content to finally be together, on a warm spring day.
