the yellowed lights were low as if the house were filled with candles to the dark night, they all faced eager to speak some forty people - maybe ninety as the hours passed, numbers made less sense there was only the holy air electrified by their voices all the world seemed a conduit and soon they too became a difference flux, passing through the paved wire an all-loving signal down a side road, curving in the night, parading their heavenly chorus entering the church of the earth, with bark and blade and insect as witness spoke and sang while their bodies tried to reclaim them their souls produced the natural harmony hoping their wishes like embers in the fire floating into the world, from ash they prayed for so many better things and never really quite stopped

they were both sitting down one was on his back, looking up the other was playing with the grass crushing the amber kernels to dust flies and beetles buzzing about laying their nests and shelters, they had found an empty seat tilted back, throne terra firma the wind from the river rustled the grass along the hill, the grass bowed in succession he closed his eyes and enjoyed it - they have been waiting for this break in the concrete flaw in the monolith that let life through they had been filling themselves in the shade of good ideas and plans for tomorrow and now was their time in the sun now, under this bright blue sky in front of the distant town rivers and valleys traveled through earlier in front of this valley of peace so they might enlist for justice's army by finding the heart and touching it pointing it the way home marching on to join more souls with love
