So for our ninth wedding anniversary, besides going to a museum to spooge over art and then to dine at our favorite French bistro tomorrow, we decided to get each other a bottle or several of our libation of choice. For Matt, that’s whisky. For me, wine.

Okay, so we’re having Santa Anas right now and it’s hot as fuck. Yesterday, it got to 92 at the coast. Today, it was cooler ... only got as high as 90. So when we journeyed to our local, surprisingly well-stocked liqour store I went over to the cooler to seek out something flirty and cold.

Guys? I got a bottle of a Very Nice™️ Chardonnay, which, not my usual jam but HOLY SHIIIIIT! This is why Chardonnay is a thing. Why people go cuckoo for cocoa puffs over it. Basic? Not even close.

This is ambrosia. This barely tastes like wine and what I mean by that is that there’s no sourness, it’s honeyed but not cloying and GOD DAMN IT how many of these bottles exist?! It’s a 2011 Select Reserve.

Best part? Worst Part? Interesting part? It’s Gallo ... Yup, that Gallo. This is the stuff that all of those gallon bottles and boxes pay for.

I’m simultaneously euphoric and devastated. Euphoric because this is, hands down, one of the best Chardonnays, the best *wines* I’ve ever had. Devastated because I’m not gonna be drinking this often.
