Happy "it's-nearly-the-weekend" Thursday! Recommend me one song to put in a "Moots" playlist (please 😘)
Just because of the work I'm doing, I think it has to be Thugs by The Tragically Hip. I adjust it a little to the below:
I keep it rolling
You do the details
Except now I'm doing the details too.
But for something more palatable by them, it'd have to be Bobcaygeon
Yeah the sky was dull
And hypothetical
And falling, one star at a time
But if you want localish vibes (for me) then Missy Higgins Scar, the Whitlams Thank You (For Loving Me At My Worst), or Katie Miller-Heidke's Space They Cannot Touch.
Or, since it's coming up to Christmas, either Katie Miller-Heidke's or the original Tim Minchin's White Wine In The Sun. I'd recommend watching Tim's first as he wrote it, but Kate is a classically trained opera singer that sings pop music with an operative bent and watching her sing this in a little terrace house immaculately lit is adorable. This girl I had a crush on at uni had her demo tape with Career Advice (Australian Idol) and I've been a fan for too long.
I don't really have family, I'm not into Christmas and I don't drink and I still really like it.
I'm hardly religious
I'd rather break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu, to be honest
And I get freaked out by churches
Some of the hymns have nice chords but the lyrics are dodgy
It has some Maura vibes. I was going to include it in something.
That's too many but this week was too long and it's a wrap. I say this like I haven't been listening to the same two Sarah McLachlan songs for the past year.
