summary: Nancy is deeply offended when she finds out her own sister is dating Jonathan Byers and hasn't told her, but after a little investigation, she finds out nothing was ever hidden from her. In fact, you and Jonathan were so open about your relationship that maybe she was just blind the whole time.
wc: 1.4k+
cw: nancy and jonathan never dated thanks, i villainise nancy once more i'm sorry
Nancy never considered herself to be particularly close with any of her siblings, but she never thought she had a bad relationship with them. Now, she canât help but rethink what she knows. She always thought that you'd come tell her about your relationships like she's somewhat done in the past. But as she stands across the street from her own house, she watches through your lit up window as Jonathan Byers pulls his shirt back onto his naked torso, your hands resting on his chest. Jonathan doesnât try swatting your hands away, even when his shirt canât slide all the way down his body â instead, his hands come up to cup your face, and he leans forward to kiss you.
Your sister gulps thickly as she shamelessly stares, feeling an ugly emotion build up inside her. Why wouldnât you tell her about having a boyfriend? Itâs not like sheâs never met this man before - that youâre keeping him secret from everyone in your circle. This is Jonathan. There was a point in time where she saw this man everyday. Sure, theyâre not exactly friends, but Nancy would have expected you to tell her that youâre seeing him. That heâs in your bedroom every night between your sheets with his shirt off, your hands on his bare skin. You donât even have to tell her all these details, but at least a little âJonathan and I are seeing each other.â
Jonathan now fishes your hands out from under his shirt, tugging you closer to him so he can kiss you deeper, but it doesnât last long before youâre pulling away from him. Nancy sees your lips move, face only inches away from Jonathan, and your boyfriend steps away from you, leaning down to grab his backpack and slinging it over one shoulder. He struggles to get his bag over his second arm, especially when you cling onto his side, draping yourself over his body. Jonathan hums, hands securing themselves on the dip of your waist when heâs finally comfortably settled, accepting the kisses you press all over his face. One of his hands leaves your waist to cradle the back of your head, guiding your lips back to his.
Nancy feels utterly betrayed. She feels stupid like this, just standing on her side of the road spying on her sister. She rushes across the street when Jonathan separates from you. She doesnât want to bump into him while he makes his way out of your window. She scrambles through her purse for a moment, looking for her keys before giving up and trying the door handle to see if she even needs them.
Luckily, the door is open. Nancy sighs as she pushes it open, wiping her feet on the doormat before entering the house. She doesnât think she can speak to anyone, so she heads straight towards the stairs, but she violently stops in her tracks when Jonathan comes skipping down them. He offers her a âHey, Nancyâ as he passes her, but all she can do is stay frozen as he passes her. She catches sight of some glitter on his cheeks as he zooms by, and she instantly knows which lip gloss of yours itâs from.
Maybe sheâll give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe in a week youâll come to her and let her know that thereâs something going on between you and the Byers boy - that everything is very new and you hope things go well with him.
But that week goes by and you act the same as normal. You offer to drive Mike to Willâs when itâs late at night, and Nancy knows what you will be up to. She wonders if Mike and Will know. She wonders if the whole lot knows â Hopper who is often with the Byers, Steve and Robin who are often strung in weird experiments with you, Dustin who is somehow always with you and your friends. Everyone but her. So Nancy brings it upon herself to ask around about it, and who better to ask than your very best friend?
Robin shifts awkwardly on your doorstep, clearing her throat at the sight of a very still Nancy in the doorway. âCan I come in?â Robin asks, eyes glancing towards the stairs, which she needs to get to in order to retreat to your bedroom. In the meantime though, Nancy holds her hostage.
âCan I ask you something?â
Robinâs eyes widen in that very obvious sign of panic of hers, and she squeaks out a high-pitched âSure!â Nancy steps out of the doorway, letting Robin step into the house. Robin momentarily deliberates running up the stairs past Nancy, but instead, she follows your sister to the kitchen, awkwardly standing in the sport nearest to the door in case she needs an escape.
âWhy is my sister hiding her relationship from me?â Nancy asks in a confrontational tone, expecting Robinâs nerves to make her spill out the truth. But instead, Robinâs eyebrows furrow in a state of confusion, posture straightening in her own sense of surprise. âHiding?â Robin echoes, watching as Nancyâs eyebrows raise and she nods her head meanly, scoffing out âYeah, hiding.â
âNancy, sheâs not hiding anything - everyone knows about her and Jonathan.â
âHow does everyone know but me!?â Nancy questions, feeling deeply offended at the smirk that makes its way onto Robinâs face. âMaybe youâre the only one not paying attention. They havenât explicitly told anyone, Nancy. They didnât need to.â
Nancy almost flinches back at the honesty in Robinâs voice. What on earth is she on about? She doesnât realise that for the past three months you and Jonathan have been the most disgustingly adorable couple to be around. On the Byersâs couch during long nights, Jonathanâs arm around you whilst you nuzzle your face into his neck. Or when the entire crew is huddled together after making potentially life saving discoveries, and Jonathan drags you out of the room by the hand, stealing you away from everyone else.
Max and El have accidentally interrupted your kissing in the front seat of Jonathanâs car when retrieving Will's backpack. Dustin has walked in on your kissing in your own kitchen when you thought no one was home and he wanted a snack. Will has seen way more than he wanted to in the middle of the night when fetching water from the kitchen and interrupting a âmovie nightâ of yours. Steve and Robin took the brunt of it though, forced to constantly be exposed to whatever PDA you had to offer whenever you and Jonathan seemed to be in the same room.
But youâre not always this disgusting.
Everyone found out long before your relationship even happened from slight changes in behaviour around each other. Shy glances towards each other, volunteering to do things together, or even the quality of your voices when speaking to each other in comparison to everyone else. Then came the subtle hand-holding, the comforting hand on each otherâs arms, the growing comfort in each otherâs company. Obviously, this developed into the displays of affection your friends and family hate seeing, but in your defence most of the time youâre somewhere private! Semi-private. Whatever.
And still, Nancy hasnât noticed anything.
Even when Jonathan has parked his car down the street, waiting for you. Even when Mike has caught you halfway out the door, insisting you to take him with you to Willâs otherwise heâll tell your parents. Even when you both have a hushed argument downstairs, you telling him that you were leaving because thereâs already too many people in this house and him replying that heâll know what youâre doing either way so it wonât change anything. Nancy doesnât know how she didnât notice when youâve apparently been been dragging your feet down the street with Mike happily trailing behind you. All she couldâve done to find you out was look outside her window. But she never did. She never saw how youâd get in Jonathanâs car, giving him guilty eyes as Mike climbed into the backseat.
Jonathan would always give you an extra long kiss just to spite your younger brother, grinning when Mike would make a disgusted noise and heat would rush to your cheeks.
âIâm her sister though. She should tell me.â Nancy finally says, voice unstable.
âNancy, when have you ever told her anything about your life?â Robin genuinely asks, shrugging her shoulders in question. Nancy freezes, and Robin takes the chance to slowly step out of the room, running up the stairs when sheâs far enough to do so.
Oh dear, she cannot wait to tell you about the conversation sheâs just had. Youâre about to be so mad at Nancy.

nancy wheeler had the worlds biggest fattest crush on steve harrington.
it all started when she was in 8th grade and you invited your new high school best friend over for a movie night.
nancy eyes kept flickering towards steve, making sure he has everything he needs. she thought that if she was the perfect host, maybe heâd finally look her way.
what nancy hadnât known is that steve didnât need much to be content. in fact, he only needed you.
steve harrington always knew what he wanted, and he had no problem waiting.
you were the eldest sibling in a house with parents who had gave up on life long ago.
you didnât have time to entertain a life. the second you came home from school you helped mike with his homework, reexplained some lessons to nancy, and kept holly company.
your mother loved you, she just didnât know how to show it. as a result, you found it quite difficult to prove your love. you just hoped everyone knew you appreciated them.
not everyone understood.
steve did.
he understood what itâs like to have to resort to portraying love in every way other than those three words.
he understood what it meant to you when you knocked on his door with steaming chicken noodle soup when he was sick.
he understood what it meant to you when you shoved an entire feast onto the dining table when he came to your house unannounced claiming he was starving.
he understood what itâs like to so badly wanting to to tell someone you love themâeven if it was strictly platonicâbut being physically incapable of doing so. he knew what it was like to have those three words fall unbearably heavy on your tongue. he knew the storm that brewed up in your chest immediately after the failure of conducting something as simple as a verbal affirmation.
he knew it all too well, and he understood it all too well.
what he could never understand is the complete denying of it. of love.
he hinted towards the idea of a step forward. a step crossing the line between friends and more than.
you shut it down immediately every time. never with an explanation.
he self evaluated. how could he become a better person? how could he make you feel more loved? more wanted.
he went 2 months without bringing it upâa personal bestâand you thought he dropped it for good.
that was until he took you to your favorite spot one evening in april.
he set up a nice picnic for you and the entire day was going splendid. you laughed so hard you snorted and you saw his eyes melt in real time.
your smile slowly dropped. âno. no, steve.â
âitâs no use, wheeler.â he began, tone already pleading. âiâve loved you ever since that movie night we had in 9th grade. i couldnât help it. iâve been trying to get my point across, but you wonât give me a chance. youâve gotta hear me out. this- this is killing me. youâre killing me.â
âsteve, please donât.â you whispered, face contorting into one of readied heartbreak.
âi stopped smoking, stopped drinkingâi stopped doing everything you didnât like. iâd do it all again for you, itâs fine. i waited all these years, y/n. i never complained when you shut down. i waited. i waited because-because i thought youâd finally admit you love me back. and now iâm starting to think maybe there is something wrong with me. maybe i am a total douche and a shit guyââ
âyou arenât, steve.â you shook your head. âyouâre a good guy, steve. too good for me.â
âhow can i be too good for you if youâre all i ever wanted?â the raw vulnerability in his voice made you tear up.
âi want to love you, steve.â you admit. âfuckâi do. thatâs why i canât let this happen. i love you so much that i canât bear to just ruin you with meââ
âruin?â he repeated, voice barely above a whisper. âhow could you say that? y/n, youâd fix meââ
âno, no i wouldnât. you deserve someone stable. someone that didnât spend their entire life picking up after others. someone that has their life together. you deserve nancy.â
âi donât want nancy!â he said slightly louder than what he had intended.
âi would ruin the possibility of us.â
âyou already are.â
you swallowed.
âlet us try. tell me youâll try and you wonât regret it.â
âyou want me to say something i donât mean?â you blinked your tears away. âiâm not saying no because i donât want to be with you, steve. iâm saying no because i canât make us work. iâm a pushoverââ
âi love you.â
âiâm a constant ball of stressââ
âi love you, y/n.â
âiâm gonna parent you more than be your girlfriend. iâll pick your socks up for you and do your laundry. iâll cook you breakfast and yell at you when you make a mess. iâm so used to yelling, steve. thatâs how you get your point across in a house filled with stubborn shitheads.â
âare you done?â
you nod.
âokay.â he looked defeated. âi donât think your broken. i donât think youâve been permanently programmed to act like a mom. i think you just need someone to remind you what itâs like to be loved. truly loved. and you will. even if itâs not gonna be me, you will.â
âi donât think i ever will, steve.â you whisper, a stray tear making its way down your cheek.
he brushed it away with the back of his hand. âyou will. you like to think that you donât know how to love, but you do. i see it in the way you treat me. youâre scared of loving to your full potential because you donât know how it looks. you donât know if itâs going to be underwhelming or overwhelming. youâre gonna find someone that appreciates either version.â
he pauses, then adds. âitâs up to you if you want me to help unlock that part of you.â
you stared at him, eyes wide and lips slightly parted.
you wanted to. you wanted to give steve the full unadulterated you. you wanted him to break you down and build you back up correctly.
but it scared you more than anything. if you mess up with steve, youâll never forgive yourself. and you know you will.
you know that when he tries to tear down the walls you carefully built youâll get mean. out of pure instinct rather than anything else. youâll scare him away because you canât face complete vulnerability.
you wanted himâall of himâbut you loved him too much to make him suffer you.
summary: the dungeon master had absolutely no script or enough dice to prepare him for mike wheelerâs sister; who has agreed to fill in for lucas, for the final hellfire meeting.
content: wheeler!reader, language, banter, sibling dynamics, mike and reader are very very close, mike is older than nancy in this; flirting, tension, mainly fluff, eddie is head over heels, f!reader, no upside down lore, inappropriate jokes & comments, dnd mentions (probably incorrectly)
you loved your brother. really, you did. he was a pain in your ass and an unarguable shithead most of the time, but he was- also unarguablyâ your favorite person in the world. and unfortunately, he was your copy and paste in a younger, taller, lankier, male form. âdo you even know how much you would owe me? to be spend my friday night in your high school, joining the end of a campaign i donât even know anything aboutâŠâ mike held his hands out to stop you, eyes pleading for you to please hear him out.
âiâll buy you literally whatever books you wantââ
âyou donât have any money.â
âiâllâŠ..do all your chores for two weeks!â
âyouâre already doing that, for when i snuck you and dustin into that r rated movie.â
âiâll give you half of my allowance!â
âiâm worth more than fifty centsâŠâ
âiâll watch all your shows with you, without complaining! iâll go see your gross chick flicksâ you can drag me shopping, you canââ
you narrowed your eyes, daring him.
âyesâŠâ mike knew he had almost gotten you. you were the pathetic ninteen year old whoâs best friend was her fourteen year old brother, who was likely even less nerdy than you. âi swear to you⊠i cross my heart.â you crossed your arms and sighed.
mike had gotten you. oh, damn him⊠you likely would have caved anyway. but mike agreeing to watch your less nerdy, occasional romance shows and movies, proved he really was desperate⊠even more surprising than his offer, he ran forward and hugged you, âthank you for not making me have to ask lucasâs sisterâŠâ you shook your head and eyed him, âyeah, yeah⊠let eddie know youâve found an alternate.â
âyouâll like eddie! heâll like you! itâll be a great timeââ mikeâs voice faded as he nearly sprinted into the other room, not bothering to say thank you, but showing it in his enthusiasm and the rare, genuine hug.
you werenât sure if hellfire required your renaissance era dress and corset, or if you could stick to your ripped jeans, fishnets, old band t that now looked like a family heirloom and your tried and true boots. the obvious answer was to ask mike, the eddie and hellfire expert. mike eyed the dress, moved his gaze to your more usual choice and said nothing, but he smirked. âhold onââ he disappeared into his room and reappeared with a second hellfire shirt, that you had no idea even existed. you took it, eyeing him speculatively, âiâm not wearing this⊠iâm not an official member, i donât want to get crucified for flying your colorsâŠâ âcrucified for flying our colors?â mike stared at you in amusement. âyes. iâm not an official member, iâm not wearing the shirt.â
dustin was practically vibrating with energy when he dove into the back seat of your car. âdude! you got your sister to come! this is gonna be awesomeâŠâ you huffed slightly and rolled your eyes, âi think you both forget that itâs me who played dnd with all of you little shits first. that i did in fact, teach you all how to play⊠and had to read the instructions the first time.â
âthe original dungeon master and storytellerâŠâ mike just look at you proudly.
dustin smacked mike playfully, grinning now, eyebrows raised slightly, âheâs gonna love her.â
mike just glanced at him, something amused and mischievous behind his eyes. you had a very sneaking suspicion the two of them were conspiring, but what else was knewâŠ
the parking lot was packed and you were begrudgingly reminded of senior year, where you were still the odd one out and couldnât wait to hey then hell out of there. and now you were back, all to finish a hellfire campaign for your brother and his dnd club⊠it was nice to see that people still showed up in droves, to watch a ball get thrown through a net. you followed mike and dustin, starting to feel rather stupid and insecure now, for being a nineteen year old girl joining a high school dnd game. you werenât embarrassed by it. no, you didnât exactly get embarrassed⊠but the thought of hanging out with teenage boys was what scared you. you didnât quite have a good track record with boys. at every school dance you attended as a chaperoneâ for the middle school or elementary schoolâ and your date was always mike or one of his friends⊠mike had el now, lucas had max, so it remained will or dustin.
you followed mike through the familiar halls, thinking that maybe if you had started a dnd club in school you might have graduated with a few friends. mike pushed open a door and you had to squint to properly see anything, âwelcome to hellfireâŠâ dustin was grinning, pushing you through the door before you could change your mind. the door closed and four guys had seemingly stopped breathing. they just stared at you, mouths hanging open, apparently in shock to see someone of the female species.
oh godâŠ
âwe found an alternate.â mike was pulling you forward by the wrist, ignoring your pleas and hisses to not parade you around. you stopped just in front of the table, now very self aware and feeling like a zoo animal. âyou didnât have to get all dressed up for us, little girl.â the comment struck you so suddenly that you were momentarily stunned to silence. you crossed your arms, stepping towards the guy you already didnât like. he stepped back, clearly frightened by you. you hoped to god that wasnât eddie. âher getting dressed up would have been her wearing her medieval dress and corset. and maybe bringing her swordâŠâ all four heads turned to mike in disbelief, âyou have a sword?â one of them looked impressed. âi do. and i know how to use it⊠itâs not something guys usually get to see thoughâŠâ your lip twitched into a smirk and the boys were once again speechless. you highly doubted they had experience with girls, given they spent their friday nights the same way you did and the the presence of you had rendered them all speechless and made their brains short circuit. mike was just watching you proudly, âyou want her or not?â
the closest one, whoâs mouth did not still hang open, muttered to himself, âiâll take herâŠâ mike, dustin and you all turned to look at him at the same time and he covered his mouth. the head of the table kicked him and you bit back a laugh, âyou know how to play?â the head of the table still had not spoken, so it was him you turned to rather than the other idiot who answered the question. âi know how to playâŠâ there was something in the way you said it that made his eyes narrow. still saying nothing, he turned to dustin, questioning.
âshe knows how to playâŠâ dustin was grinning, as if you were a secret weapon for them. god, no pressure. âsheâs a level seventeen rogue. she sneaks up on any enemy and kills them before they even know sheâs there. she can solve any problem you have, wins every fight and looks pretty while doing itâŠâ
you rubbed your face, glancing at dustin with a wince. you patted him on the shoulder, silently appreciative, wishing they would stop talking you up.
âlevel seventeen?â now the head of the table had finally spoken, eyeing you up and down like he was trying to figure out what you were, âwheeler⊠where the hell have you been hiding her?â your mouth twitched up into a smirk and you met his eyes. âshe doesnât leave the house muchâŠâ now he stood up, disbelieving but increasingly intrigued, âthisâŠ. is your sister?â
âthatâs my sister.â
âwaitââ one of the lackies stared at you, âi thought wheelers sister wasâŠa priss?â you spun around, âthatâs my other sister. and please stop talking about me like iâm not here. you want me or not?â
dustin and mike turned to the head of the table, to who you already had assumed was eddie. he was smirking, eyes still on you, âwe want youâŠâ you shrugged your jacket off and sat down. two of the unknown members dove in on either side of you and you slowly turned to face them. you were not going to be the object of gaping and staring all night.
âso do you actually listen to the band on your shirt, or did you just buy it because you thought it was cute?â
dustin coughed and mike straightened up, looking greatly forward to the verbal slaughter that was about to ensue. if this was his attempt at flirting, dustin had done a better job at eightâŠ
you glanced down at you led zeppelin t-shirt. you glanced back up. the guyâs amused smirk vanished, now looking like he was about to get scolded by his mother. you didnât say anything for a moment, just staring at him, wondering what possessed his small brain to ask you that question. you glanced back towards the table and set your figure down. you took a deep breath and sighed, tilting your head just slightly before turning back at the still gaping male, âdo you know what the thing between your legs is for, or is it still just a decoration?â
the guy jumped back, now scowling. dustin and mike were howling with laughter, oooing and smiling smugly. unknown members three and four weâre doubled over. and eddie was silent, tongue tucked against his teeth, smirking like he had never seen anything like you before. his eyes were on you, amused, intrigued, almost fond. he held his hand out to you, still smirking, âwelcome to hellfire.â
you had learned unknown two, three and fourâs names were jeff, gareth and doug and you had been right about eddie. you would catch him glancing at you occasionally, though he tended to wait until you were deep in thought, concentrating on the game in front of you. dustin and mike exchanged several glances throughout the night, not as nearly as smug as they had been, but now amused that you had seemed to catch- and hold- eddie's attention.
eddie had created an impressive campaign; you would be sure to tell him, if you ever actually beat it... you stood in the huddle, now feeling more stupid than you had the rest of the evening. these idiots had you in a full sweat over a damn board game. âi have two critical hits left. i canât do shit!â
ânone of us can do shit! weâll never be able to roll a perfect twenty. i canât even take another step, with how low my health isââ
âmike, what do you have?â
âi donât have shit!â
âweâre so screwed.â
âwe have to forfeit. we have to retreatâŠâ
you glanced over your shoulder. eddie was propped up in his chair, smirking in amusement, glancing at the ceiling, hand cupping his ear as if he was mocking you. you groaned. cocky bastard. âwe are not retreating. most of you wonât even be able to retreat! dustin and gareth will have to be carried, mike only has one good leg and jeff and doug are dead!â
mike watched you speculatively, the smallest smile of pride on his face, âyou want to go for itâŠâ dustin shook his head, hands on his head like they truly were risking life and limb, âyouâre insane! youâll never beat him with just the two of youâ even if mike can roll something high, he doesnât have enough power left to make a dent. you would have to roll a twentyââ you shot dustin a glare, warning, âdustin⊠when have we wheelerâs ever backed down from a challenge?â
ânever⊠even when you should.â
mike took your hand, smiling like you had won the key to the world, âwe fightâŠâ
âwe fight.â
you and mike turned, both staring at eddie like it was a dare. âvecna awaits⊠whatâs your move?â
your lip twitched up just slightly, way too confident and way too invested in this damn game, âwe fightâŠâ
dustin and the others began to chant, fight, fight, fight, and all of it really added greatly to the unnecessary adrenaline you felt. eddie looked even prouder than mike, giving you a remarkable stare and dipping his head in respect, âwee wheeler, youâre up. what is your fate?â
mike died instantly, but he went out like a hero. he would be greatly remembered and his best friends would carry his name the rest of theirâ possibly very shortâ lives. dâartagnan the artificerâ dustinâ had used his final, minuscule roll to remember and honor his fallen friend. he had gone out fearlessly, after all.
all eyes turned to you and you should not feel this much stress and pressure for a damn high school club, as a graduated nineteen year old. eddie lifted his eyebrows, still staring at you with that impressed, amused smirk, âperfect twenty and vecna falls⊠your move, miâlady.â you grabbed the twenty sided die and there was a collective intake a breaths. you narrowed your eyes and scooped up the dice. you tossed them in your hands, holding your breath. you shifted your hand slightly, towards mike and dustin. they both blew on it, just to humor you. you let it go, closing your eyes as the die bounced across the table.
as stupid as it sounded, you couldnât look. they were all relying on you and that damn twenty sided piece of plastic for their end of a school long campaign. there was a roar and cheers and mike and dustin were both grabbing you and shaking you in excitement. eddie was screaming, hands in the air, announcing the fall of vecna. much to your dismay and horror, you were lifted up by the entire party. they were chanting your name, cheering and screaming. you were set down, grabbing onto a proudly beaming mike, before you fell while being set back on the floor.
eddie was still staring at you, and for the first time you became very aware of yourself. your tight, ripped jeans, your messy black hair that you had never quite figured out what to do with, the fishnets under your jeans that your dad had nearly had an aneurysm over, and the black combat boots mike had bought you for christmas five years ago. you certainly did not look like the typical male gaze, and that was exactly why eddie had not been able to look away.
âi knew bringing you was the right call.â you ruffled mikeâs hairâ something you had done his entire life, that he still begrudgingly allowed, only giving you a brief glare for messing up his hair. âyouâre welcome, kid⊠i think you would have been lost without me.â
âoh, they so would have.â eddie had stopped beside dustin, glancing around the room before turning his attention back to you, âjeff blames it on female presence⊠throws off the vibes and balance of the party⊠makes everyone lose their focusâŠâ he tilted his head slightly, still eyeing you. mike narrowed his eyes just slightly, sensing something the two of you were quite oblivious to.
you smirked just slightly, âis that so? well. seems like they could use all the help they could get. i noticed that the two i have trained and raised myself were the last two standingâŠâ eddie glanced over to dustin and mike with a fond smile, âare you claiming them as your padawans?â your lip quirked up, amused, âdefinitely. taught them everything they know, except for how to dress.â mike and dustin glared at you for this, but you ignored them, âquite the campaign, by the wayâŠâ eddieâs eyes sparkled, âquite the roll.â
your mouth twitched up just slightly and you were greatly aware of how close he was to you. there was a very small swelling in your stomach and heat began to rise in your cheeks. you knew exactly what this cursed feeling was, even though the last time you had ever felt it was for steve harrington in third grade.
âdo you like pizza?â you said it to eddie with that same small smirk, before glancing around the room to include everyone.
âwho doesnât like pizza?â
âexactly my thought, dustin⊠letâs go.â
mike glanced at dustin, surprised and delighted, trailing behind you suddenly, âwhat? really? now? what about mom? she wants me home by nine thirty!â
âi can deal with mom, mike⊠sheâll never be that upset if youâre with me.â even though you were the black sheep child, you were the most responsible and had proven it time and time again. they knew you would never be careless with mike and they knew he would never be better looked out for with anyone in the world.
âman, i love your sister so much.â dustin caught up with mike and you held back a smile. silently, trailing behind you like he knew you would lead to trouble, eddie couldnât agree more.
your feet were up on the booth across from you, legs stretched out under the table, saving the spots for eddie and dustin who had gone to get drinks. mike was staring at you, eyebrows raised, waiting for you to acknowledge him.
âwhat? what is that look for?â
âthe elephant in the room.â
âthereâs no elephant in the room, michaelâŠâ
mike raised his eyebrows further, pulling his straw up and down against the cup as he looked at you in disbelief, âokay⊠so how about the eddie in the room?â your reaction had been immediate and you cursed yourself, âwhat?â the disbelief was too thick in your tone, âwhat are you talking about?â
mike gave you his typical unamused, disbelieving, sassy expression. his lips stuck out slightly, eyes narrowed, arms crossed over his chest. âoh, donât give me that look!â mike just raised an eyebrow in answer, âfine. iâll play stupid⊠iâll pretend i didnât see the way you were looking at each other and visibly undressing each other with your eyesââ
âmike!â you glanced around and desperately hoped no one was near by to hear that.
âi approve. and you could use a hobby and get out more⊠just please keep the face sucking to a minimum around me.â
you gaped and choked out a shocked, uncomfortable laugh, âmike! shut your mouth!â but you were blushing now and couldnât force away the smile spreading over your lips. damn your brother and his perceptiveness and how he knew you way too well⊠mike was just smiling, looking at you with a soft expression similar to the one he would give you when he was younger and got anything he wanted from you. he was still just smiling, and you knew it was a silent way of saying how happy he was for you.
âyouâre getting ahead of yourself.â you sipped your coke and eyed him skeptically, still slightly amused and still blushing. mikeâs expression didnât change.
âwhat did we miss?â you lowered your feet and dustin slid in across from mike, looking between the two of you like you were guilty of something. âwhy does mike look like heâs been given the key to something spectacularâŠâ
that was a rather accurate description.
âheâs excited to go see his girlfriend in california, over spring break.â mike nodded, eyeing you once more, silently reminding you that he could easily out-embarrass you right now.
âthatâs right, wheeler⊠you and your lady are long distanceâŠâ eddie eyed him in amusement, reaching for another slice of pizza.
âshe is real.â
âi never said she wasnâtâŠâ
you knew he was teasing, but you still cracked a smile, âshe is real. and a lot cooler than him.â mike didnât argue. âtheyâre perfect for each other. itâs adorable, really...â
âcan anyone be perfect for another person?â eddie looked to you now, and you straightened your spine. you truthfully had never actually thought about it. you had never had a boyfriend and until four hours ago, you hadnât even held any semblance anywhere near real interest in anyone in the male species. âi donât know.â
âwell, do you believe in soulmates?â
âof course thereâs no such thing as soul matesââ mike kicked dustin under the table, to shut him up, âah! son of aââ
âi think soulmate doesnât always mean romantic. i think it can be a group of best friends or even siblings. i think itâs just whatever person completely compliments you and makes you feel like everythingâs gonna be okay.â
âso you think your brother is your soulmate?â
âwell, noâ i donât knowâ i think it can be different things. but i donât believe in soulmates only being romantic because i know not everyone will find someone.â
eddie was staring at you like he was trying to translate some ancient language. and you just kept rambling, oblivious to the way he was looking at you, and the way dustin and mike had now both clued in on the very obvious thing in the air.
âi donât think soulmate is the right word. i think itâs just whoever your person is.â
âyour person?â
âyes, your person. the first person you think of for anything. mine is mike, mikeâs is eleven, dustinâs is you or steveââ
eddie glanced away to look at dusting fondly, not letting it show just how much the kid meant to him. eddie glanced back at you and fell silent, still just watching you. dustin had turned red but he didnât argue. you glanced back at eddie once your rambling had stopped and were nearly startled by the way he was looking at you. stupidly, you didnât know why he was looking at you. you had nearly sabotaged his entire game, you didnât know when to shut up, and you were much too like your brother, who he already knew well. eddie didnât look away though, even as you did, cheeks hot and eyes darting anywhere else to break the tension.
âi gotta askâŠâ
the pizza had been taken care of much quicker than vecna, and eddie was now leaning forward with his chin on his knuckles. âyou do actually listen to led zeppelin?â you quirked an eyebrow, smirking just slightly. you had thought that was obvious. your mouth twitched into a smile and you let yourself meet eddieâs gaze again. you stood up, deciding that maybe he could find out that answer for himself.
mike and dustin followed you, while eddie just watched you go, head spinning, smirk spreading on his face, âgoodnight, level seventeen...â you stopped briefly, noting the tone of his voice. it wasnât final. it didnât really sound like a goodbye.
you quirked your lip up and spun around, giving eddie a similar curtsey to the bow he had given you earlier, âlet me know if you ever need help slaying any dragonsâŠâ eddie sank back into the booth, heart pounding, the smirk still on his face because he knew his entire world had just been catastrophically shook.
your mom was waiting at the door, not quite angry, but leaning towards exasperated and maybe frustration. âi left a noteâŠâ your tone was innocent, shifting your jacket to your shoulder as you braced the door open with your hip. mike and dusting squeezed in past you, both looking guilty but not sorry. âhe was supposed to be home by nine thirty! itâs almost ten thirtyâŠâ
âi know⊠blame me. we went out for pizza afterwards.â she opened her mouth to argue and you held your hand out, âi knew it was late and i didnât want you to worry about dinner.â she looked to dustin and opened her mouth again.
âif i took dustin home, we would have been even later! his mom knows heâs here and theyâll go straight to bed.â
karen narrowed her eyes, looking at you with a mix of pride and exasperation. you smiled softly, âwe had a good time⊠iâll miss him while heâs gone.â she just sighed, shaking her head and walking back upstairs.
you smirked just slightly, turning to eye the boys, who looked at you with awe and amazement. âcan i borrow you, next time iâm in trouble with my mom?â you ruffled dustinâs hair and snorted, âsure. iâm great with disappointed mothers⊠go straight to bed. donât make me a liarâŠâ you were always a smooth talker. you were not a liar.
dustin had tagged along to the airport. nancy had left early for god knows what reason. while dad woke holly up and carried her to the car, you were left in charge of making sure mike had everything. you were the only one brave enough to go in his room. he and dustin were both barely conscious as you stepped inside, both still in the clothes they fell asleep in.
âboys!â
they both scrambled to their feet, shrieking and falling out of bed or slipping on their sleeping bag on the floor.
âmomâs going to kill you! are you at least packed?â mike shouted at you to get out and you ducked to avoid the pillow he threw at you. âiâm packed! iâve been packed since wednesday!â
you huffed and watched dustin and mike grab mikeâs things and haul ass to the car. you rolled your eyes, holding back laughter. dustin was saying expletives with every step, rushing to the car, insuring he would not be the reason they were late. karen warned dustin to watch his language and you wondered when she would remember who she was talking to and when she would realize he was incapable. everyone piled into the car, dustin mumbling, âsorry, mrs. wheelerâ like a scolded puppy.
mom had not wanted to go in to the airport, deciding it was much better if she waited with holly in the car. âbe good, michael! or i swear this will never happen again!â mike held his hands up innocently, giving you the slightest mischievous smile. you knew he would never do anything you wouldnât do. mike gave holly a quick, awkward-forced-sibling hug and begrudgingly allowed mom to squeeze him and kiss his head. you trailed behind mike, he and dustin deep in conversation. mike stopped outside his gate, turning to look at you with a anticipating expression. âhave fun⊠do not do anything i wouldnât. give will a hug for me.â mike pulled you into a hug much more willingly than he had everyone else. âdonât forget about us, and make cool california friends.â dustin nudged him playfully and mike shook his head, ânot a chance.â
âtry not to be too lost without me⊠iâll only be gone for a week.â you scoffed but you knew you would be bored without him. mike grabbed his bag and stopped, glancing back at you, âoh, and you should go for it with eddie. you need something to doâŠâ you gaped at him, ignoring dustinâs snorts and laughter.
âgoodbye, mike.â was all you said.
you were much more pathetic than you thought. on the third day without your brother, you were sitting at the bookstore with dustin. dustin had made fun of you the entire drive there, scoffing that at least mike had such a cool best friend that had similar hobbies to you and tolerated you. you did not come of with a smart response to him because he had been the one asking you to take him, knowing you would have spent the entire rest of the time mike was gone, at home, reading.
âdo you mind if i go to the gaming section?â you glancedâ just across the storeâ and eyed dustin skeptically, âyou will be literally one hundred feet away from me. iâm not going to drop dead if you arenât here to entertain me.â dustin smirked slightly, âif youâre sureâŠâ you shook your head as you watched him disappear.
you side stepped a very sweet looking but very unobservant old woman, cringing slightly as you inhaled a strong whiff of her perfume. your stack of books teetered dangerously and you shifted to quickly catch them. you lifted your elbow frantically to steady the stack and ungracefully, mortifyingly, met someoneâs stomach. there was a grunt and a gasp of air. you swore, all books now falling on the floor.
âi am so sorry!â you whipped around, now tripping over the pile of books. your breath caught as you saw who you had just extravagantly elbowed in the stomach. âeddie?â
shit.
eddieâs eyes snapped to yours, his brief pained and startled expression softened to a smirk, âwell, well! sheâs deadly in dnd and in real life.â
you scoffed, smiling slightly, âi am so sorry⊠i didnât even see you.â
âi take offense to thatâŠâ
ânoâ not like that. i mean youâre easy to noticeâ i wished i would have seen youâ i meanââ
holy shit, you were never this chatty and now you couldnât seem to shut your mouth.
eddie just smirked, crossing his arms, tilting his head slightly at you. watching you stutter and stumble over your words like it was the highlight of his day. you cursed again, letting your head fall in defeat, ânevermindâ iâm sorryâŠâ
âdonât be.â that damn smirk again, âif i had to get elbowed in the gut by someone, i would chose you one hundred times over.â
oh, god you were blushing. eddie noticed you were blushing and his smirk grew. and now you were just staring at him like a damn idiot. eddieâs eyes dipped, âyou dropped your books.â
oh rightâ
eddie was teasing; he was enjoying the way you were looking at him and how easily he could make you blush. you stared at him for a second more before dropping your eyes in a panic. eddie bent down and started collecting them, no longer hiding his amusement. he stacked them neatly in his arms and eyed you.
âthank youâŠâ you held your arms out but eddie did not offer them back to you. you narrowed your eyes, gaping slightly, âoh, you do not have to carry thoseââ
eddie just glanced at you, âi got it...â you opened your mouth to argue but he held his finger up playfully to shush you, âwouldnât want you tripping and falling into any other menâŠâ his lip twitched again and you did not miss the suggestion in his tone.
oh he was trouble. and you knew he was going to be even more trouble⊠you wanted him to be trouble⊠god, you wanted him to come crashing into your life and upend it completelyâŠ
âeddie!â
holy shit, you had completely forgotten about dustinâŠ
âhenderson? who let you out of your enclosure?â
âactually i escaped and then forced her to go out into the world with me.â dustin motioned to you and you rolled your eyes. you glared at him, waiting for him to finish being obnoxiousâ he didnât. âsheâs rather reclusive, after all⊠and with mike being in california, i figured i would take her daily sunlight exposure into my own hands.â
âvery noble of you to keep her out of trouble. while you were away, however, she sucker punched me and put me in a headlock until i agreed to carry her books.â you gaped at eddie and he gave you the quickest, most perfect smile you had ever seen.
dustin glanced between the two of you and smirked just slightly. the chemistry and thing between you must have been obvious to everyone on the world tooâ perhaps there was even a blinking neon sign above your heads. dustin nodded, clicking his tongue sadly, âshe is quite scary⊠you really do have to be very careful around her. sheâll catch you off guard.â
eddie set your books on the counter and stepped back, leaning back slightly as he hung back with dustin, while you paid, âoh, she catches you very off guard⊠i think iâll need to be very carefulâŠâ dustin smirked, glancing back at eddie, who had not taken his eyes off you.
you tucked the books under your arm and returned to the still patiently waiting boys. âare you two conspiring?â
âsomething like thatâŠâ dustin held back his smirk.
âdid you attack any other poor sucker while paying for your smutty romance novels?â
you snorted and then covered your mouth. the attacking part was much less amusing than the smutty romance part.
âsmutty romance novels? oh, for sure.â you pulled the books out from under your arm, individually, naming them with a huff, âmists of avalon, fevre dream, the gun slinger, enderâs game andâ the entirety of hitchhikerâs guide to the galaxy⊠also a new copy of jurassic park because mike took mine and to kill a mockingbird because iâve read it so many times that itâs shredded.â
eddie tilted his head, âspectacularâŠâ he knew you were nothing like anyone he had met when you completed obliterated his dnd campaign the first time you filled in, and now your reading taste had proven to be just as interesting and varying as you.
âwhy, thank you.â you bowed slightly, smirking.
eddie passed all of the books you had stacked in his arms while contradicting him on your reading material. his eye dropped to your twilight zone t-shirt and he smirked again, realizing you were much more similarly aligned than he would admit. you smiled at him once more, âbye, eddie. thank you. again⊠and iâm sorryâŠâ
you headed for the door, but eddie spoke before you got âgoodbye, trouble⊠let me know if you ever need someone to carry your books⊠or to fall forâŠâ
you halted, stopping dead in your tracks. dustin glanced at you, smirking with a thoroughly amused, devious expression. you knew if you turned around you would do something stupid. or say something even stupider⊠you bit your lip, fighting against yourself and reminding yourself you had never been the type to ever get butterflies over anythingâ especially a guy. dustin raised his eyebrows slightly, eyeing you speculatively, like you were the biggest idiot in the world. you suddenly couldnât think of anything to say. not that could counter your blushing or play off the butterflies in your stomach. you started walking again and dustin elbowed you. you hissed, snapping your head towards dusting, âyou little shitââ
âhey, eddieâ!â dustin ducked as you swung for the back of his head, spinning back around before you could grab him. âweâre going to the arcade after this. then ice cream⊠you should come.â
eddie glanced at dustin, narrowing his eyes. his eyes shifted to you, who ducked your head in embarrassment, chewing your lip anxiously. eddie didnât miss the red on your cheeks, or the faintest smile on your lips, but he also did not want to over step or scare you off. âoh, i donâtââ
dustin was already walking towards him, grabbing his shoulders and now marching eddie towards the door and you. you sighed to yourself, making a mental note to call will and tell him he was definitely your favorite friend of mikeâs.
you cursed, laughing despite yourself, as you once again lost horrifically. âi swear i am actually good at this normally!â eddie clicked his tongue and frowned, âi believe you, trouble. youâre just not as good as meâŠâ you scoffed, shooting him a playful, disbelieving glare, âevidently not.â eddie laughed, eyes lighting up as he did. god, for the way he was dressed, he sure smiled and laughed a lot. you were still too naive to accept that it was just because of his present company. you huffed and leaned back, âi surrender.â
âyou? accepting defeat so easily?â
you smiled innocently, the corner of your mouth in a smirk, âonly because iâm out of quarters.â
eddie returned your same expression and slid his hand in his pocket. he furrowed his eyebrows and sucked in a breath through his teeth, âwell, shit. so am iâŠâ
you scoffed, laughing in slight amusement. eddie joined you, shaking his head.
âiâd better find dustin. kid might start a tabâŠâ
you stopped short, looking around slowly. there was a very obvious lack of curly hair tucked under a hat in the building.
âyou looking for henderson?â
keith appeared in front of you and you flinched. god, you hoped he didnât ask you out againâŠ
âiâ yes?â
âoh, he left.â you opened your mouth but keith pulled a crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket in answer, âhe left you this note.â
you did not askâ or try to think aboutâ why the paper was slightly damp.
â called steve to pick me up.
have a nice date
â d.h. â
you snorted, âthat little assholeâŠâ eddie peered over your shoulder, now grinning like an idiot, âi really love that kidâŠâ
you eyed eddie, only mildly irritatedâ at dustinâ âmhmm⊠heâs adorable.â your voice was flat, deadpanning.
âisâŠit a date?â
shit. it almost wasâŠ
shit.
ânoâŠâ your eyes shifted to eddie and he was visibly disappointed for a moment. he shook it ofd quickly, still eyeing you like he wanted to say something.
âfor it to be a date, you would have to ask me first.â
eddieâs disappointment and anticipation vanished; his expression softened, eyes traveling your face and pulling a small, almost shy smirk, âand if i did ask you? would you say yes?â
eddie had leaned in, now much closer and making your height difference much more obvious as he leaned down slightly. your breath caught, mostly from his sudden intensity and piercing eyes. you forced yourself to breathe and attempt to keep any sort of composure as you spoke, âi guess you would have to ask meâŠâ
eddieâs smile spread, eyes shifting, darkening just slightly; like he couldnât stand what you did to him and how much you made him work for everything so farâ as if he hadnât had you stuttering and blushing mere hours ago, in a bookstore. eddie leaned in further, now inches from your face, arm stretched out just above your shoulder, leaning up on the arcade game behind you, his chest nearly pressed against yours.
âtomorrow night⊠dinner. with yours truly.â his lip twitched up, âthis time, dustin isnât the one askingâŠâ
your mouth curved into a smile despite trying to remain casual, âyes⊠iâll be there.â
eddie smiled, somehow having some form of smirk for every occasion, âwonderful. iâll see you tomorrow, trouble.â
you felt breathless, your heart now catching up to what the rest of you was doing, now sending you into panic mode. you had a date. you had a guy that you could actually see yourself dating. you snapped your attention back to eddie and away from the building panic. you just smiledâ widely, genuinely, big enough to hurt your cheeks. you nodded in agreement, watching eddie part ways at your car and return to his van. he paused as he climbed into his drivers seat and glanced back at you, âno backing out, trouble! you still owe me that ice creamâŠâ you bit your lip and smiled,âwheelers donât back out of anything⊠and we never joke about ice cream.â
âthere you are!â karen was opening the door before you got to it, âi was beginning to think you got kidnapped!â she had a fair reason to worryâ you very rarely left the house without mike, and almost never stayed out past nine. âdid you have a good time with dustin? i see you bought more books!â
right, dustin! you had almost forgotten that you left with him⊠âi did, mom⊠um, yeahâ just some that iâve been wanting to pick upâŠâ she eyed your stack with a slightly nervous expressionâ it was all very different from her smutty romance novels she read in the bathtub. âi love that you read so much.. but i do wish you would utilize our libraryâŠâ you shrugged, smiling sweetly, âsome books you just have to read over and over⊠itâs just not the same.â she didnât argue, just watched you with a small sigh, âmike is on the phone for you. told me he would wait for you get homeâŠâ
you nearly tripped on your way to your room, taking the steps two at a time. you dropped the books on your nightstand and bellyflopped onto your bed, diving for the phone.
âmike??â
âdid you kiss him?â your brother sounded perfectly casual, the slightest hint of excitement in his voice.
âwhat!? whoâ mike! did you talk to dustin?!â
there was laughter on the line and you knew immediately the conversation was not private. you cursed quietly, exhaling through gritted teeth. âi did not kiss eddie.â
âyou sissy.â
âmichaelââ your tone was warning and greeted with more laughter. âget me off speaker phone.â
there was a click and mikeâs breathing was much closer, âyou miss me yet?â
ânot as much, now.â
another snort, âwhat time is it at home? nine? you were out awfully late, young ladyâŠâ
you rolled your eyes, âstop talking, or i wonât let you read any of my new books.â
mike fell silent, paused for a moment, before, âwhatâd you get?â
you bit back an amused laugh, âstephen king, hitchhikerâs guide, a few new onesâŠâ
the conversation went on much too late, but if he was home, and not out with friends, most nights were spent hanging out with mike on your bed, ranting or reading or discussing teenager problems and watching the twilight zone. when your watch beeped eleven, and there was a shout from joyce on the california line, you yawned.
âi should probably go. joyce wants to show us this really old movieâŠâ
you suspected it probably wasnât that old and it probably wouldnât be his thing, but you did not want to keep him any longer from his girlfriend and will.
âmike?â
âyeah?â
âi think i could really like eddie...â
âi think you already doâŠâ
he was right and you hated it.
mike spoke again, softer, âi think itâs good...â
âi think itâs terrifying.â
you had changed your outfit four times. you had been so desperate and tense you had almost asked nancy for help. you came to your senses rapidly and realized asking her or your mother would mean telling them you had a date, which would mean you had to tell them with who, which meant you would have to let them in on your wondrous guy that was eddie. holly sat on your bed, watching you throw clothes around with a raised eyebrow. âyou have a lot of black clothesâŠâ
âyes, holly.â
âare you goth?â
âno, holly. and why do you know that word?â
âkids at schoolâŠâ
you just sighed and went back to your bed to sort through the already approved maybe outfits. holly shifted slightly, watching you with increasing concern.
âis this for a guy?â
you stopped, looking to your little sister with a warning expression, âdo not say anything to mom or nancy.â
hollyâs smile spread across her entire face and she threw her arm over her chest, crossing her finger over her heart and miming a key locking over her lips.
you huffed, eyeing her. holly shifted closer to you, watching you fondly, âwill i get to meet him?â
âno⊠notâ not yetâŠâ
possibly never.
âyou should wear the purple wranglers.â
âthe purple wranglers?â
âwith the black t-shirt thatâs low cut⊠and your boots.â
you raised your eyebrows slightly, wondering when holly had started becoming a small future teenage girl and how long you had before she too would start asking to borrow your things. she had been right. bless her eight year old fashion sense, the outfit was giving exactly what you needed. confidence, mostlyâ but also reminded you that your body wasnât appalling to look at and actually did look halfway decent. you finished your makeup and stared at yourself in the mirror.
âyou look prettyâŠâ
you ruffled hollyâs hair and smiled, âthanks, kid.â
holly jumped off your bed and moved for the door, âhave a good date. i will cover for youâŠâ
you were exceedingly grateful that eddie had picked a diner, instead of somewhere fancy and of high social expectations. you sat across from him, feeling ridiculously anxious and absurdly self conscious. you had spent practically the entire day with him yesterday and now you could barely form a sentence. he was still watching you, posture tense, eyes slightly strained, looking very unlike eddie.
âiâm sorry⊠this isâ this isnât reallyâŠâ
oh no, it had been a mistake.
âiâm not really good at this⊠um, datesâ sitting and talking in front of people⊠iâm⊠iâm sorry.â
âiâm sorryâ iâm not being any help at all with thisâŠâ
âi donât think iâm any good at this eitherâŠâ
eddie stuck his lip out slightly, glancing around, shifting slightly. âhey, do you want to just get out of here?â
âwhat?â
and just forget the date?
âcome on⊠i have a better idea.â eddie took your hand, dropped enough money to pay for the two drinks and started pulling you towards the door. you followed him without a second of hesitation. his hand was warm against yours, pulling you along enthusiastically with a mischievous smile.
one hour later, you sat on the roof of his van, legs crossed underneath you, red slushie and gas station snacks between the two of you. you were laughing, talking to each other like normal people, once again finding that comfortable, flirty banter.
âthis is betterâŠâ
âi told you⊠dating feels like such a spectacleâŠâ
it honestly did⊠between the handful of dates you had been on and the way you heard girls talk about how much their boyfriends spent on them and how fancy the dinner, you wondered why it was even worth it. the radio played in the background and you closed your eyes briefly. you almost laughed when you heard the song.
eddie looked at you with a puzzling expression, lifting an eyebrow, ânot a fleetwood mac fan?â you shook your head, smiling widely, âitâs not that. this song just⊠itâs complicated.â eddie narrowed his eyes, setting his drink back down, âwell, now youâve gotta tell me.â
you eyed him, âlandslide is me and mikeâs song. i know siblings donât normally have a song⊠but this one just seemed to always be everywhere. my first school dance, i didnât have a date, so i brought mike. it didnât matter that he was three years younger. this song was playing while i was getting made fun of for dancing with my brother. mike came along and just started dancing with me.. he was this little ten year old flipping off the entire auditorium of middle schoolers.â
eddie snorted, âthat sounds like wheeler.â
you shook your head with a fond smile, âi really just donât know where he gets his personality and attitude fromâŠâ
eddie raised his eyebrows, âoh, no, itâs a total mystery to me tooâŠâ he watched you, eyes softening, holding his breath slightly.
âthe night mom was at the hospital to deliver nancy, it was on the radio⊠i think that was the first time the lyrics actually settled in. it wasnât going to just be the two of us anymore and i think that scared both of us. obviously our relationship is fine⊠i think if anything, younger siblings only made us closer.â you shook your head, realizing you were drifting off topic, âanywaysâ itâs just always somehow present. like any bad day when iâm driving around⊠and i wonder if things actually do get better and move forwardâ it just feels like a sign, that itâs playing nowâŠâ
eddie leaned in slightly, âa good sign?â his eyes were so soft you worried you may melt. you shifted slightly, no longer so afraid to be near him.
âa very good signâŠâ
you knew the look eddie was giving you. it was the first time that look didnât fill you with dread, nausea and the overwhelming urge to run.
âi should warn you, iâm not very good at thisâŠâ
you watched him blankly, waiting for him to give context.
âiâve never really been a relationship personâŠâ
oh.
âlong term and serious are not words i would use to describe myâŠpastâŠâ
ohâŠ
âbut youâŠâ he tilted his head, eyeing you like he was studying, âyou are something else entirely, arenât you?â
âam i..?â your breath caught, eyes on him, feeling like suddenly the entire universe had shrank down to just you. until this moment, you had never understood teenagers and their hormones. you didnât understand why they pinned each other against lockers like they couldnât bare to be separated for a second longer. you didnât understand the way they would exchange saliva and suck on each otherâs necks without ever wanting to do anything else. you couldnât comprehend the primal like need for constant kissing and endless sex, or even the appeal of boys in general. but right now, all you wanted to do was kiss him.
but then eddie was kissing you and you realized that you had never had a proper kiss in your life. your heart pounded in your chest, heart rate increasing as if it were preparing to launch into space. your head spun, eyes practically rolling into the back of your head from the feeling of him against you. your hands found his arms, sliding slowly along the groove between his elbow. you needed to steady yourselfâ you held onto him like he was the one thing keeping you to sanityâ really, it was the opposite.
eddieâs arms slid around you, hands resting gently on your waist. as good of a kisser as he was, he was still taking it slowâ he didnât want to mess this up, he didnât want to scare you. you, howeverâ felt like you were breathing for the first time. your head spun as you deepened the kiss. your hands moved from his arms, up, moving to his chest, frantically grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer. you didnât want him to pull away. you didnât want his hands to move from your back. your fist full of fabric tightened, desperate. eddieâs breath caught, he hesitated just slightly. clearly your desperation was not subtle. his eyes found yours softly, making sure your hand on his chest wasnât a silent attempt to push him away. he knew it probably wasnât by the way you were pulling, instead of pushing; but he still needed to be sure he wasnât messing this up.
eddie smirked just slightly at your wild expression, finding it rather enjoyable that you were as easy to get breathless and worked up as you were to make blush. you pulled him with you, keeping your mouth against his in a slow but heavy and needy rhythm. your back hit the roof of the van and eddie threw an arm out to catch himself before settling completely on top of you.
âinside would be more comfortable for youâŠâ
âinside smells like weedâŠâ
he laughed against your lips, not pulling away as he spoke, âsorry⊠i probably do too.â
you just shook your head, stroking your fingers through his hair, ânot as strong⊠kind of like it on you.â
you were dizzy, when the kissing finally relented. you realized with alarming clarity that this was what it was always supposed to be like. the flirty and playful banter, the occasional glances, the way your body reacted violently every time eddie laughed or smiled or gave you that damn smirk.
âsorry if this wasnât what you expected⊠it wasnât your average..first date.â
you almost laughed at him, âmy average first date has sucked. you did us both a favorâŠâ
eddie actually laughed, âyeah. yeah, mine tooâŠâ
you shifted, the weight of the evening falling heavy on you. your nerves creeped back in, now sitting awkwardly after the briefâ likely mindlessly promptedâ make out. you had done it so casuallyâ it had felt so natural and raw and⊠good. he felt so natural to you. he wasnât pretending to be something else. he wasnât talking himself up, disregarding your interests or your side of the conversation. he was just eddie. he kissed you because you both wanted it, and you had been the one to drag it further than one kiss.
âcan i see you again?â
eddie was back to smirking, eyes soft, still taking you in as if he would spend the rest of his life trying to get used to you.
you smiled to yourself, glancing up at him, finally sitting up, stretching slightly as you slid back to the front of the van, âyouâd betterâŠâ
âtomorrow? i have band practice around eleven, but afterââ
âtomorrow is goodâŠâ
you sipped the rest of your slushie, not having realized how much energy kissing actually took, when done properly.
âis it a second date?â he normally wasnât in to labels, but with you he wanted to be on the same page.
you tilted your head, humming softly, âit could be a dateâŠâ you werenât sure you needed another date. you thought adding date to what tonight was had almost ruined it.
âit couldâŠâ
âit could be a hangout⊠but not between friends.â
eddieâs lip twitched, âit could be.â
your eyes shifted, nudging him softly, âso itâs just a hangout.â
âbut not between friends.â
âno, of course not.â
eddie tilted his head again, just staring at you, âyouâre exceptional⊠i really never saw you coming, wheeler.â the usual smirk was not present, as he just took you in.
âalways happy to have the element of surprise, munson.â
âyou certainly didâŠâ
you slid off the top of eddieâs van, hand in his as he steadied you as you landed on your feet. eddie held both your hands in his and then, to your absolute utter disbelief, eddie kissed both of your knuckles, never taking his eyes off you, smiling devilishly, âgoodnight, my lady. until tomorrowâŠâ your heart flipped, stomach somersaulting, smile betraying that you ever once had a single subtle, badass, indifference towards anything ever.
âyou were out late.â
you smiled into the phone, huffing slightly, âwere you timing me?â
âsomething like thatâŠâ
âhowâs california?â
âvery different from hawkins⊠howâs eddie?â
you smiled just at the name, âvery different from hawkins.â
âholy shit, i can hear you drooling.â
âiâm not drooling! iâm just smilingâŠâ
âiâm glad youâre happy. i can tell youâre happier.â
you really loved your damn brother. but now wasnât the time to get emotional⊠you were turning into a mushy teenage girl over this spring breakâŠ
mike was quiet for a moment, yelling something to will or el, followed by a laugh, âdid you kiss him yet?â
you scoffed, realizing his sweet, sappy side was over. your not immediate answer, or a sharp exhale of his name, made him continue, âgross, you did! on the first date! who are you?!â
you snorted, âitâs kind of different with him. i donât know, i neverââ
âgross.â you could hear the playfulness in his tone. it was as if you hadnât caught he and el locking lips in the basement on multiple occasions.
âmikeâŠâ
âsorry, iâm finished⊠good different?â
you shifted, âterrifying different. i no longer things boys are gross or a waste of time.â
âwow... congratulations, you might have grown up. or i think adults call it puberty.â
you actually laughed this time, âonly took me nineteen years, right? and a lot of bad dates and even worse kissesâŠâ
âi think it only took eddieâŠâ
even scarier.
âour song was on the radioâŠâ you said it like it drove you crazy; like it was almost too much of an obnoxious joke.
âyouâre kidding. tonight? when?â
âummm right before i lost my mind slightly and almost stretched out his shirt.â
âholy shitâŠâ
you sighed, not being able to convey it better, yourself, âholy shitâŠâ
eddie shifted his guitar over his shoulder, watching impatiently as the band seemed to forget every note theyâve ever played. the drums were too loud today. every song sounded bad, every note sounded like it didnât fit.
âhold upââ gareth looked exhausted, âtoday just may not be our day.â
âyour day. personally, i have sounded great.â
âno, eddie is right. his guitar is somehow better than usual today.â
âmaybe thatâs the problem. heâs too goodâŠâ
âtoo good?â
âyes. youâre making the rest of us look bad.â
âoh, am i?â eddie sighed, âi didnât realize my ability to hit the right notes would effect yours. thereâs no g sharp in this song, by the wayââ
âi didnât play g-sharp! that was c flat.â
âif you think that was c flat, that explains a lot about our success this entire timeâŠâ
âwhat the hell is that supposed to mean? and why are you being so much cockier and better than usual today?â
âthanks for the complimentâŠâ eddie smiled sweetly, âmaybe i slept a full eight hours.â
âor maybeâŠ.. he had sex!â jeff was pointing at him like he was identifying a murder suspect.
âi did not have sex.â eddie didnât think he would still be standing after that. you already wrecked him in enough other ways; he was in no hurry to find out what new ways you could so easily ruin himâ or maybe he was⊠two nightsâ and most of three days in a row with you already made his head spin, yet he still couldnât get enough of you.
âis there a girl? did you mess around with another girl? are we going to have to write this one a song?â
âsomething like that. no song, thoughâŠâ
eddie knew none of these idiots could find enough words good enough for the terror and wonder and extravagance that was you. truthfully, he was barely keeping it together not talking about last night and you and how he had never in his life felt the way he did right now. how all you really did was talk and eat gas station food on his van and mostly innocently kiss for a few severalâ at least thirtyâ minutes. how the next day you wandered through record stores discussing music taste and realizing you hated the same bands, how you bonded further over an oreo milkshake and then a few more kisses. how you were the only person he felt comfortable around, how his cheeks hurt from smiling and smirking at you and how at one point he thought he was having a heart attack but it was actually just because you were looking at him in a way he had never been looked at before.
âwhatever, man. she isnât here to impress, so stop outplaying us.â
eddie held up his hands innocently, not feeling particularly guilty.
âdo we know her?â
âoh, youâve met her⊠not sure you liked her much. you did at first, then she practically stomped on your testiclesâ not fully metaphorically.â
there was a groan of a guitar string and then silence. all members were now looking at him with horrified expression.
âitâs not wheelerâs sister.â
eddie was already smirking, expression devilish and guilty.
âplease tell me it isnât thatâ thatâŠâ
eddie shifted his guitar to his back and stood up, âthat what?â his voice was warning, despite the smirk on his face.
âdude. she could rip your heart out and then eat it.â
eddie sighed, dramatically, really laying on the slight swoon, âi knowâŠ. and i would let her.â
âmanâ seriously. sheâs like..the scariest, most terrifying person iâve ever met.â
eddie just smiled, shaking his head slightly, hand over his heart with a faraway, dreamy smile. his thoughts exactlyâŠ
âare you talking about me?â
there was a collective gasp and one or two frightened shrieks. you tilted your head, smiling in amusement, asking the question as if it had been the highest compliment you had ever received.
eddie nearly jumped over the speaker set up, rushing to greet you, with a quick kiss. he didnât think before doing it, it was just the only thing that felt right. âwhat are you doing here? i meanâ iâm happy to see you, gorgeous. but how did you find me?â
âdustinâŠâ
eddie would probably thank henderson later. you slid your arm around his ribs and leaned in to his kiss, heart once again racing. you glanced over the truly terrified looking band member and smiled sweetly, wiggling your fingers at them in mock greeting. one of them visibly flinched and you snorted, âi see i left an impression.â
âthey seem to think youâre going to rip my heart out and eat it. maybe like a vampire queenâŠâ
god, you could lean fully into this spectacularâ absurdâ facade they had painted you in. you tilted your head slightly, snapping your teeth at them, in exaggerated threat. all three took a step back and you snorted, shifting your gaze from the band members back to eddie. you bit your lip and held his chin, ânot you.â you ran your thumb along his jaw and he visibly stopped breathing, momentarily forgetting that you were leaning into the joke and nearly dropping to his knees, âyou, i would have much more fun withâŠâ you ran your tongue over your top teeth and eddieâs mouth fell open.
there was a cough from behind you and eddie attempted to pull himself back together, ârightâ well, iâm gonna go.â he reached for his guitar, forgetting it was over his shoulder, keeping his eyes on you, still not breathing fully. he stumbled as he walked, unplugged his amp and nearly knocking over the clash drum. gareth caught the drum and stared at eddie wide eyed, not even questioning his sudden departure.
âgood luck, manâŠâ he sincerely meant it.
eddie glanced at him, posture rigid, eyes wide, âyou may never see me again.â
eddie also sincerely meant it.
âi um⊠my trailer is really crappy. itâs not.. iâm not sure youâllâ i mean, itâs kind of embarrassing.â
you frowned at him, not wanting him to feel ashamed or embarrassed of where he lived. âeddieâŠâ
âitâs not that i donât want you to come overââ
âeddie⊠itâs okay.â
he looked visibly relieved, âsorry⊠iâll have you over. iâll just clean first. my uncle works nights, soââ he cut himself off. he almost said âso weâll have the place to ourselvesâ but he didnât want it to be like that. it wasnât like that with you. he didnât ever want you to think it wasâ that he was just interested in sex, that was implying anything or trying to pressure.
âmike comes home tomorrowâŠâ
âoh.. right.â eddie wasnât sure if that would change the amount of time you had been spending togetherâ or if mike would just become a third wheel.
âwe can go to my house.â
âohââ he was very much hoping to not meet parents for at least a while longer.
you read his mind, âmy parents are probably already asleepâŠâ
âperfect.â
you had many thoughts about sneaking a boy into your room. between two nosey sisters and a very light sleeper mom, it could have been one of the dumbest things you ever did. you chose to believe that the karma gods sensed that your intentions were not currently sexual and that was why you made it to your room and locked the door with no one appearing.
eddie paused in your doorway, slowly looking around. âdamnâŠâ you winced, smiling to yourself, âyeah⊠itâsâŠ. itâs something.â your four shelves of books, the ridiculous stuffed dragon that took up most of your bed, the plastic ivy you had strung across the ceiling and walls, the dnd game sitting on your floor, still uncontinued with mikeâ the sword that hung over your bed, which eddie was now gaping at.
âhonestly, i thought you were joking.â
you smirked, âi never joke about swords.â
âno, clearly⊠or dragons.â he turned to survey the various dragon figures and pictures throughout your room. his eyes settled on the giant stuffed one on your bed and for a second you expected a comment or tease.
âwho is your friend?â poor black dragon was so well loved he no longer looked as royal and respected, but well-cuddled and tired.
âthatâs pippin. mike got him for me when he was six. he doesnât leave my bedâŠâ
eddie looked at you like he was very much fighting the urge to say something that would het him hit. really, he was coping with the fact that you were both, the most adorable and most terrifying person in the world to him. he patted pippinâs head, and looked at you with a fond smirk, âvery noble. every queen needs their guard dragon.â
your room, eddie realized, was possibly the best place he had ever been. it reflected you perfectly. every corner and spare inch mixed with all the things that made you you. your books, various plants, rock, metal and every fleetwood mac album sat on the bottom shelf. various gems and rocks decorated your shelves, alongside dnd pieces, dice and varying sizes and types of dragons. your closet overflowed with clothes. lots of black, brown, grey, white and a few flashes of colorâ including a pair of purple pants eddie recognized immediately. band shirts hung on the back of your door, both obscure and popular, but all sitting on your record shelf. you were definitely the coolest person eddie had ever met.
you sat on your bed, sighing as you stretched your legs out. âwell?â eddie had to force himself to stop surveying your room, noticing something new every second, âwell?â
âas far as girlâs rooms youâve been in, how would you rate it?â
eddie exhaled slowly, âoh, top one for sure. yes, definitelyâŠâ he gave you a charming grin, amused at your disbelieving expression, âof all theâŠ.one girlâs rooms iâve been in, that girlâs room is the best.â
âwhat?! no, way. youâre just trying to look innocent for meâŠâ
he laughed, holding his hands up, âdefinitely not innocent, sweetheart⊠but your room has been the first. most of myâŠ. rendezvousâŠ. have been in bars, the van, or shamefully, an alleyâ
you had stopped smiling, âyouâre kidding.â
âafraid notâŠâ
ânone of your girlfriends nave everââ
âoop, thereâs your problemââ
âwhat?â
âyeah, never got that far.â
âwhat?â
âthe whole boyfriend thing⊠not on my resume.â
you just stared at him, never actually feeling more seen.
âiâve been on dates, iâve done lots of things, but itâs always just been onceâ after a date, or maybe because they were just after drugsââ
âdamn.â
âyepâŠâ he was still smiling, glad to know you were not yet repelled by him.
âshame, really⊠they didnât know what they were missing.â
eddie scoffed, âactually, i think they did.â
you patted next to you on your bed and eddie sat, âtheir loss. iâll proudly be the one to finally promote you to boyfriend.â
eddieâs breath caught, eyes widening slightly as he looked at you.
oh shit. you had labeled it. you has said he was your boyfriend without actually communicating it with him first.
âoh, fucâ i didnât⊠eddieâŠâ
you had scared him. you had scared him and now he was going to freak out and you had ruined everything.
but eddie didnât freak out. he was smiling. not just his infuriating smirk, but a real, big, genuine smile. you just stared at him. waiting for him to say something, or maybe run out the doorâ
instead, eddie just kissed you. softer than usual. not urgent and gentle enough to be casual. it felt anything but casual. it wasnât hot and heavy, but you still felt more need and warmth than you had before. his thumb was on your chin, soft but firm, âi accept my promotion⊠and i will fill it with honor.â you smiled, leaning in to kiss him again. you both sank back onto your mattress, both smiling and laughing softly, shifting to move the giant dragon out from underneath you. eddie tucked his arm under your head, shifting to look down at you before kissing you again.
you shifted, bringing your knee up, head already spinning as he tucked himself between it and your still stretched out other leg. âyouâll tell me if you want to stop?â you nodded, sliding your fingers through his hair, pulling him down, closer. âi donât want you to think this is what i expect to happen every time we hang out⊠i donât expect anything. i donât want you to feel pressuredâŠâ
âeddieâŠâ
âyes?â
âshut up and kiss me.â
âyesâŠâ
you shifted, laughing slightly as eddieâs nose brushed against your skin. for once, lips and teeth on your throat hadnât made you panic and shove someone away. eddie hesitated at your intake of breath, lifting his eyes to you again, âyou okay?â you nodded, breathless, smiling. eddieâs mouth curved up into a smile and he kissed your lips once. âchanged your mind yet?â you tilted your head, questioning. âabout my new title?â
you sat upâ so quickly that eddie had to jump backwardsâ staring at him in silence. he really wasnât kidding and you realized that despite all of his experience and constant smirking, he really had never had anyone that deserved him⊠that actually made him feel how he had made you feel. âeddieâŠâ you shook your head, âiâm not going to do that. i havenât felt like this about anyone⊠donât think youâre going to get rid of me so easily.â
eddie just looked at you, eyebrows raised, not fully believing you. you didnât wait for him to argue, surging forward, lips crashing against his before he caught his breath. his arms snapped around you, pulling you down with him with a smirk. you straddled him, committing his wide eyes and wild, deeply intrigued and interested expression to memory permanently. you started kissing him again, slower, now making sure you were the one in control. eddie had no complaints to the arrangementâ practically limp beneath you, aside from his arms around your back, keeping you in place.
âi donât think you heard me⊠youâre not getting rid of me.â eddie opened his mouth, but instead of words there was a sharp intake of breath and then a moan. you smirked against his skin, flicking your tongue once more against his neck before sucking. you had no idea what you were doing, but evidently you were doing it well. eddieâs hand had tightened around you, fingers tightened around your ribs. after several seconds, eddie squirming underneath you with numerous, muffled noises.
you pulled back, still latched on as you did, smiling, admiring your work proudly. you had never left a hickie. but now you felt quite good about yourself. âsee?â you stroked your thumb over it, âall mineâŠâ
eddie was breathless, eyes wide, but smirking like he was the one in control, âpossessive little thing, arenât you?â you bit your lip, grinning at him. he put his arm around you again, as you settled against his side, still smiling. you went right back to talking, as if that hadnât just happenedâ and as if it wasnât a new thing that you were both still getting used to.
you reached out to turn off your alarm, groaning softly. you shifted, almost forgetting that you werenât alone. you flinched, nearly panicking, before remembering that you had done nothing wrong. you both still wore the same clothes from yesterday; none of them shed, except for shoes and eddieâs jacket draped across your chair. you had slept exceptionally in his arms. you hadnât even remembered dozing off, and you were thrilled that eddie couldnât have gone home without you driving him. you kissed him, softly, pushing his hair out of his face. âi have to pick mike upâŠâ
eddie shifted, eyes opening onto you softly, âmorning, gorgeousâŠâ god, you would never get used to himâŠ
you had run to mike before he had even seen you; scaring the hell out of him and successfully alarming any other pedestrian near by. you hugged him tightly, nearly knocking him over.
âjeâ what are you gonna do if iâm ever gone for more than a week?â
âgo with you.â
you took his bag, keeping your arm around him. you stopped, lifting an eyebrow, âwhy do you smell like weed?â
âjonathan has a new friend⊠heâsâŠ.â mike paused, looking at you, âwhy do you smell like weed?â
your lip twitched up and mike rolled his eyes, âheâs here, isnât he?â
âno idea what youâre talking about.â
but you were smiling too much to be believable.
âoh, youâre new boyfriend? the one youâve not stopped talking about every night on the phoneâŠâ
âoh, has she?â eddie was smirking, arms crossed, head tilting, looking at you with a teasing expression.
âitâs been a little annoying, really. no offense, but i think i might be tired of hearing about you.â
âoh, totally donât blame you. i get tired of hearing about you, too.â
both tones were playful but you were blushing with the real thing.
âdid you keep her out trouble?â
âoh, no⊠i really tried. sheâs just out of control.â
âoh, i know. sheâs a bad influence on me.â
âyou know, i think she may be a bad influence on me too.â
you rolled your eyes, looking between the two, knowing this would inevitably now be your daily life.
in whichâŠy/n wheeler is always cold, and, for some reason, always wearing steveâs hoodie?
WARNINGS: STEVE AND NANCY DID NOT DATE IN THIS. FLUFF, STEVE AND READER ARE NOT DATING, MIKE BEING BEING A NOSY LITTLE BROTHER
A/N: idk what season this takes place in. was thinking the gym scene in season one, but that doesnt exactly fit with details in this??? its season ambiguous. mileven mentioned solely because i wanted el to have something to understand and base relationship dynamics on, dont kill me pls. this is really short sorry
why is she always cold? that was the million dollar question. it seems like, since the beginning of time (orâŠher life) y/n wheeler had been cold. every family photo contained a warm cardigan, every beach trip ending with a sweatshirt even after being in the sun all day.
steve and y/n werent dating. steve was justâŠaround, for whatever reason. he had become friends with dustin henderson, and suddenly, someone y/ns age was finally in the wheelers basement with her, instead of just preteens. it had started sometime after will went missing, and she never questioned it enough to get an actual explanation.
while searching for will, and saving the world in other unfortunate scenarios, long nights became normal. once the sun was down, coolness settled over the same town, filling warm houses with chills. for the eldest wheeler girl, this was not ideal. hours once spent cuddled under blankets and fleece pajamas turned into nights spent plotting in the cold basement or huddling by the heater in steve harringtons car while waiting trying to find out where will went.
the first time it happens, steve and y/n werenât supposed to be together. steve was supposed to be with dustin, helping him find mike and el, but the two boys found each other and were catching up on everything that had happened in the past few hours. the school gymnasium was cold, making her wrap her arms around herself and sigh while she sat on the plastic bleachers. steve had left to get something from his car in the parking lot, leaving her alone.
within a few minutes, he was back with vending machine snacks and a hoodie. âhere, before you freeze to death.â he tossed the hoodie at her, then dumped the snacks onto the bench between where they both sat. he opened a granola bar, taking a bite.
hesitantly, y/n slipped the hoodie on over her long sleeve. âthanks.â she whispered quietly. assessing the food, she picked up a bag of fritos and opened it. her head lifted when the door opened, watching el walk in without mike nor dustin, which was unusual of the girl. âhey, el.â she smiled at her little brothers girlfriend. they hadnât been dating long, and y/n wasnt even sure if it was a real relationship, but it was cute, and mike seemed to find comfort in taking care of someone.
the younger girl waved, walking over to the bleachers. âhi.â she took the granola bar steve handed her. she sat on the gym floor, quietly eating. âis thatâŠsteveâs hoodie?â she asked, wide eyed in the way she always was, naturally curious about everything.
y/n nodded. âyeah. i was cold, so steve let me borrow it. like when you wore mikes sweater the other night.â she explained softly, hoping her explanation made sense to the younger girl. she knew el was familiar with steve, and she was definitely familiar with y/n, who had been one of the ones there when the party first met her.
âdoes this mean you and steve areâŠboyfriendâŠgirlfriend? like me and mike?â she asked quietly, making both teens cheeks flame.
quickly, both of them shook their heads, stuttering out explanations. âwhat? no! we-weâre just friends.â y/n ran her hand down her face to try and wipe the stress away. âlikeâŠyou and dustin, youâre friends, right? thats how me and steve are.â
steve nodded in agreement. âyeah! friends! like, when dustin let you borrow his walki talki, im letting her borrow my sweatshirt.â he explained calmly, but his smile was nervous.
âohâŠâ el nodded, eating her granola bar. âfriendsâŠâ she repeated once more.
â
the more steve and y/n hung out, the more frequent she was in his sweatshirts. no one really questioned it out loud, but the boys always shared looks and mike rolled his eyes whenever he saw his sister with steve again.
it was late at night, past the time she would usually be in bed, fast asleep. but, instead, she was in the basement of her house, half asleep while her brother and his friends all talked over each other. her elbow rested on the armrest, and her chin was in her palm. depsite trying, her eyes barely stayed open. the blanket on her lap was doing barely enough to keep her warm, and she curled her legs underneath her.
wordlessly, steve wrapped his unzipped sweatshirt around her shoulders, lightly patting her back before sinking back into the ouch cushion next to her. technically steve could leave at any time, but he would feel guilty if he didnt at least offer the boys a ride home, and he would probably end up carrying y/n to her room, despite mike saying she was fine on the couch for the night.
before long, y/n was out, fast asleep with her head buried in the crook of her elbow, resting on the armrest. steveâs hoodie was still wrapped around her, and he adjusted the blanket to cover her more. the boys were still arguing at their game table, but mike had gone silent. he was watching, watching how steve took care of her without complaint or being asked. he wondered if his sister even knew how he looked at her, how gently he took care of her.
while dustin, lucas, and will made sure they had their things, steve was carefully picking the wheeler girl off the couch, ready to bring her upstairs to her bed.
âsteve?â he was stopped by mike.
âwhatâs up?â steve asked, adjusting the girl in his arms.
he hesitated. âdo youâŠlike her?â the words finally tumbled out. over the past few weeks, he had been watching. he watched everything, even if it didnt seem it. his sisters love life had never been of much interest to him, but he dreaded the idea of her dating some douchebag. steve didnt seem like a douchebag though, not with her. if someone had asked mike asked his opinion of steve âthe hairâ harrington before late 1983, he wouldâve scoffed and called him a douchebag. but now, he really wasnt so sure.
steve paused. he looked down at y/n, still fast asleep in his arms, in his hoodie. âyouve got a cool sister, mike. literally and figuratively.â he chuckled at his own joke before bringing her upstairs, glad mr. and mrs. wheeler were already fast asleep in their beds, door closed with no chance of waking up to a strange boy carrying their unconscious daughter to her bed.
for the rest of the night, mike thought about that moment. the way steve smiled at y/n, how he always gave her his hoodies when she was cold (which was frequentlyâŠ) and how he called her cool. in scared him, how someone who had a reputation of being so rude could act so sweet, and how truly kind steve was when he sat next to her in the wheelers basement, discussing other dimensions and fighting other worldly creatures.
most of all, mike hoped that steve wouldnât hurt his sister, wouldnât lead her on only to break her heart or dump her to the side once someone else came along. he held steve at arms length, even when it felt like his arm was getting shorter and shorter. ïżŒ

Masterlist
There are a few things youâve learned about dating Dustin Henderson.
One: heâs loyal to a fault. The kind of boy who remembers your favourite cereal, who waits to walk you home even when itâs an extra fifteen minutes out of his way.
Two: heâs so dramatic. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes because his emotions arrive at full volume whether he means them to or not.
And three: jealousy looks utterly ridiculous on him. But, endearingly enough, itâs kind of part of the package.
Still, you wouldnât change him for the world.
You and Dustin have been together a little under a year now. The beginning was messy in all the ways dating your twin brotherâs best friend tends to be. Sneaking around, dodging Mikeâs suspicious glances, pretending that the flirty banter was just another round of friendly teasing. But eventually, even Mike noticed that Dustinâs smile lingered a little longer when you were in the room, and your laughter came faster when he was around.
It hadnât even been a confession when you two made it official. Just a late night, the two of you lying in the grass behind your house, fireflies blinking between you, when heâd said, âYou know youâre my favourite person, right?â And youâd said, âYouâre mine too,â and somehow, that was it. Since then, youâd been you and Dustin.
You all grew up in the same loop of friends. Will Byers had been one of those constants, the soft-spoken one whoâd spent countless hours in your basement with Mike and the others. Youâd been friends with him as long as you could remember, and it always felt natural to talk to him.
But recently? You and Will had gotten closer than usual.
After he moved back from California, there was a quiet weight to him, a gentleness that made you want to listen more, stay longer. You started hanging out one-on-one sometimes, offering opinions on his drawings or helping patch together D&D campaign ideas when Mike lost interest halfway through. It wasnât romantic. It never could be. Just an easy friendship.
Unfortunately, your boyfriend didnât get the memo.
Itâs a lazy Saturday at the Byersâ house. The gangâs half here: Mike rummaging through his backpack, Lucas and Max cuddled up on the love seat, and the rest of you sitting in around the coffee table, prepping for the next campaign.
The air smells like pencil graphite and chips. You sit cross-legged on the rug beside Will, leaning over a parchment map spread across the table. Heâs shading the outline of a swamp while you sketch in winding paths.
Across the way, Dustinâs sitting criss-cross, pretending to be absorbed in his radio kit.
The key word being pretending.
âOkay,â Will says, leaning closer, âif the party heads into this tunnel here, theyâll end up trapped in the Vine Lordâs maze. Unless they roll high enough on perception.â
âBrutal,â you say, smiling. âMikeâs gonna love hating this.
Will laughs softly, eyes bright. âThatâs the idea.â
Behind you comes a sharp clang of metal hitting wood. You glance over. Dustinâs hunched forward, frowning at a tool like it owes him an apology. A muscle jumps in his jaw.
âYou good there, Dust?â you ask, amused.
âPeachy,â he says without looking up.
Will pauses mid-shade, brow furrowing. You offer a tiny shrug and turn back to the map, but Dustinâs next sigh is loud enough to make even you, whoâve spent years living with Mikeâs dramatic tendencies, cringe a little.
Will catches the look on your face. âShould I, uh, go grab something from the kitchen?â he whispers.
âNah,â you answer, half under your breath, âheâs fine. Probably.â
But Dustinâs movements keep getting tenser, screwdriver clinking against the table. The silence stretches until you finally say, lightly, âYou sure nothingâs wrong?â
He shrugs, expression carefully neutral. âNope. Totally fine. Just some people having a great time together. For hours.â
You blink, taken aback for half a second, and then realize exactly whatâs happening.
Oh. Heâs jealous.
You fight the urge to laugh, mostly because poor Will has immediately gone stock-still beside you, very clearly wishing he could vanish. Instead of saying anything, you give Dustin a long, slow look; the kind that says, weâll talk about this later.
Then, with practiced calm, you turn back to the paper. âSo,â you say brightly, âroot tunnels or mud tunnels?â
Will exhales, relieved. âRoot tunnels, definitely. Theyâre harder to escape.â
Dustin mutters something that sounds vaguely like âgreat choiceâ under his breath, and you bite the inside of your cheek trying not to grin.
The tension doesnât lift completely, even when Mike swings by an hour later demanding changes to the map, or when everyone finally starts packing up. Dustinâs smile has that faint twitch to it, the one youâve grown to know as the one that means heâs overthinking but pretending not to.
Itâs early evening by the time you and Dustin leave Willâs place. The air smells faintly like rain and warm pavement. You both walk in easy silence for a while, the kind that usually feels comfortable. Except tonight, the quiet stretches thin.
You steal a glance at him. Heâs scuffing his sneaker along the curb, eyes on the ground. You can tell heâs trying to act normal, but the way he hasnât made an effort to gush over some new idea he has gives him away.
âOkay,â you say finally, nudging his side. âYouâre awfully quiet for someone who spent half the afternoon sighing loud enough to make the entire party question itâ
He lets out a sheepish laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. âYeah⊠I might have had a moment.â
You raise an eyebrow. âA moment?â
âA mild, temporary lapse in judgment fueled by jealousy and bad communication,â he recites like itâs a line rehearsed in his head.
You laugh despite yourself. âWow, youâve been workshopping the phrasing since we left.â
He smiles faintly, but it doesnât quite reach his eyes. âI just⊠saw you and Will together. You were laughing, talking, sketching stuff and it looked so easy. And I started thinking about how he gets you in a way I donât. Heâs quiet, introspective, artistic. Iâm loud and talk too much and canât draw a straight line to save my life.â He sighs. âSometimes I worry youâll wake up and realize Iâm a lot to handle.â
It hits you right in the chest, that soft, honest vulnerability that Dustin hides behind humor when things feel too big.
âHey,â you say gently, bumping your shoulder against his. âLet me tell you something, because clearly you need reminding. You donât have to compete with Will. You two are basically brothers, Dustin. He adores you, and besidesâŠâ You glance sideways, a teasing smile creeping in. âFor what itâs worth, Willâs more interested in my brother than me.â
That makes him stop in his tracks. âWait⊠Mike?â
You grin, trying not to laugh outright. âObviously.â
He stops in his tracks, mouth falling open. âThat⊠explains so much, actually.â Then, shaking his head with a little laugh, âGod, Iâm blind. I owe Will like ten apologies now.â
âPretty sure Will's used to you being dramatic by now," you tease, stepping closer with a grin.
Dustin groans, rubbing his face with both of his hands.
âDustin⊠I like quiet people, sure. But they donât make me laugh until I canât breathe. They donât show up at my door when the power goes out just to âmake sure the upside down isnât stirring again.â Youâre chaotic. You feel everything fully, which can be both a blessing and a curse sometimes. But thatâs what I love about you.
He meets your eyes then, and the tension melts clean away, replaced by that lopsided grin youâve adored since the first time he used it to get out of trouble.
âWell,â he says after a moment, âjust so you know, jealous meltdown mode comes from a place of deep, passionate love and-â
âA smidge of stupidity,â you finish for him, giving him a cheeky smile.
He chuckles, hand brushing yours until his fingers slip perfectly into place between. âExactly. Wait, did you call me stupid?â
You squeeze his hand, giggling. âThat is not what I said, and you know it.â
You keep talking after that. About music, about how weirdly grown-up everythingâs felt lately, about how Mikeâs been driving you both crazy sharing one too many conspiracy theories again. The rhythm finds its way back between you, familiar and easy, like it always does.
By the time the lights from your house flicker into view, youâre laughing again. Dustin drapes his arm around your shoulders, pulling you a little closer.
As you walk up the driveway under the soft glow of the porch light, you realize something simple: Dustin Henderson may be dramatic, jealous, and absolutely exhausting sometimes, but heâs also yours. Exactly the way heâs always been.

SPOILERS! for season five
summary: robin is the one, and now youâre sure
pairing: robin buckley x female wheeler!reader
rating: PG-13 (with the occasional use of "fuck")
word count: 0.7k
warnings: what happens in the show happens in this story, nothing else really
pairing note: reader is a wheeler, but i still wrote her as non-descript as possible so she doesnât have to be related by blood
authorâs note: my first time publishing a girlxgirl fic, is it obvious?
Ah, Robin Buckley, the light of your life. You had met Robin a while ago when she and your sister started hanging out for some unknown reason. You two started secretly dating shortly after. No one knew about the two of you, not Nancy, not Mike, not your parents. It was completely a secret to them. You knew Steve knew about Robin, but she never told him about you.
You loved Robin with every ounce of your heart (not that you had said those words yet), but you could feel her being distant ever since the massive quarantine. You two were still going strong, though it was hard for you to be open when you could tell she wasnât.Â
Then it happened. The worst-case scenario that would only happen in your nightmares. Your little sister was missing, and your parents were both in the hospital.Â
You had come home from work a mere moment before the demogorgon slashed your momâs throat.
âMom!â You rushed to where she was lying down as the monster grabbed your sister.Â
Holly screamed your name, âHelp!â she exclaimed.
You grabbed the broken bottle from next to your mother and went to attack the monster, but it simply roared in your face and dragged your sister into a huge, gaping, glowing hole in the wall.
You were left too shocked to speak. You were barely breathing, so shakily and so shallow that you couldâve knocked yourself out if you werenât so goddamn scared.
âMom!â you cried, now kneeling beside her. âMom, just stay with me, okay?âÂ
Then Nancy got home with your brotherâs girlfriend, El (who you knew was missing).Â
**
Robin rushed to the hospital when she heard the news, and the second you saw her, you burst into tears.
âItâs okay, Iâve got you,â she mumbled when she pulled you into a tight hug. You didnât care about your siblings finding out; you didnât care, you just needed to be as close to Robin as possible.
âThey canât die, Robin,â you sobbed. âThey canât fucking die!â
âIâve got you,â she mumbled as she rubbed her hand up and down your back comfortingly. The people around you were too busy to notice the long embrace you two shared, and when you finally did break away, Robin stayed close by you.
The more the people around you talked the more you realized what they had been hiding from you.
âWhat the hell?â you suddenly exclaimed, gaining everyoneâs attention. âSeriously, what the actual fuck are you all talking about?â You were fuming at this point. âYouâre trying to tell me you guys knew about this, about what kind of monsters were living in Hawkins, and you decided to, what? Ignore it!?â
âLook,â Nancy sighed. âWe understand if youâre upset-â
âUpset? No, Nancy, Iâm not upset, Iâm fucking terrified. Terrified of those monsters out there, and pissed as hell because you didnât tell me anything!â
**
You had calmed down a little; you were still in the waiting room. You regretted going off like that, even though you had every right to be pissed.
âCan we talk?â you asked Robin, dragging her into a private area. âFirst, Iâm sorry for yelling. Second, Iâm still so mad at you and the others for not telling me. But especially you, Robin.â
âMe?â
âYes, you. You shouldâve told me! Do you not feel like you can be honest with me?â
âOf course I feel like I can be honest with you!â
âThen why didnât you tell me?â
She looked into your eyes as you started back at her.
âBecauseâŠâ she started, âI love you.â There was a massive pause as you digested her words. âAnd itâs because I love you that Iâve been lying through my teeth to protect you. But I see now that was selfish of me, andââ
You kissed her. With your lips sealing hers shut, she didnât say another word.
âI love you, too,â you whispered when you pulled away.Â
âWhile weâre on the topic of confessions, I have one more thing,â she said. âSteve has kindaâŠwell, not kindaâŠheâs figured us out.â
âSteve? Why is that both totally believable and absurdly confusing?â
HIIIII!!! đđđ IM FRAGMENT!!! (Yes my actual birth name, i know I know its out of the ordinary) but I have a request to make if its alright with you! I really do love platonic yanderes and I was wondering if we could have a yandere platonic henry creel/mr whatsit x reader! The reader is a kid in this and is apart of the little victim things in the creel house with hollyđ We are Holly's younger sister by a year amd we are also in the creel house with holly after the Demogorgon kidnapped us!! Mr whatsit sees us as his own kid/sibling for some reason (he doesn't even know why) so he treats us a little differently then the others! Like with more care and warmth! Have a great day! Bye!!
FATHER FIGURE
pairing: platonic!henry creel x wheeler!child!reader
summary: you've been rescued by mr. whatsit, but your sister holly believes otherwise, but he's been nothing but kind you, and treating you much more softly than the others.
warnings: nothing! fluff, some manipulation, henry's like a fatherly/brotherly figure towards reader. innocent!reader, but she's a child so-, the bratty ass kids are their own warning.
a/n: this is such a cute request! IT IS COMPLETELY PLATONIC, no creepy stuff here okay? reader can be adopted, or not, it's up to you, I don't decide for sake of inclusivity.
also, don't be shy, feel free to request!! I'm very open to your ideas!
it's pretty short, I'm sorry!
love the name by the way!
Mr. Whatsit had told everyone what their purpose was here.
all he wanted was to keep you safe, and you trusted him. Holly, your older sister by a year, was looking at you.
You didnât know what was wrong. Why she was so concerned for you. Mr. Whatsit was there to keep you safe and all that. He wouldnât want the worst for you.
Right?
You were the favorite, and all the kids could see it. You always were close by Mr. Whatsit, or henry as he said you could call him. Holly noticed it first.
"They're just jealous of you," He said, when you told him the kids sometimes made comments about you behind your back, especially Thomas.
he hugged you, soothing you almost every time you cried. he was like a father, a father you've never had in your life. your father wasn't really good at being a dad, you doubted he actually wanted kids.
so, Henry was always better, he was there for you in ways your father couldn't have been.
"Y/n."
Holly looks over to you. "What is it, Holly?" You asked, you were drawing at the moment, so you were occupied.
"I need to talk to you. And Mr. Whatsit can't see. You're the only one that would believe me."
you blink at her in confusion, but follow your older sister anyway. She took your hand, bringing you upstairs where Mr. Whatsit wasn't at in the moment.
"y/n, we have to get out, it's not safe here," she said. you laugh."holly, it's more than safe here. I'm safe. he won't hurt any of us."
he wouldn't hurt you, he's told you yourself.
"you're the brightest of them all, and I'm glad I picked you," he smiles at you."is pink your favorite color?"
you nod."but it doesn't matter. I'm getting too old for it anyway."
"it's a wonderful color," he said.
he stares at your interaction with holly. he didn't know why you held some softness in his heart. you're like a daughter, a daughter he wouldn't ever have, but even still, he had a plan. you'd just be protected from it.
you were brought here for a very different reason to the others.
you were special.
it was like the feeling he held for eleven, before he was betrayed by her.
but this time, he was confident, confident you weren't going to be the same way.
a/n: darling i am SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG TO WRITE i know i said i was prioritizing these requests everything just got away from me and i prioritized gif imagines to keep the queue on track i sooo sorry omg. deviates EVER so slightly from request i just put reader in a different part of the house lol

Hearing all the commotion downstairs !reader goes to investigate, finding Karen on the floor bleeding out, they quickly jump in between Holly and the demogorgon to protect their younger sister. Of course this fails, leading to !reader being HORRIBLY injured and on the brink of death (bleeding out). Once Nancy arrives sheâs immediately at !readers side, she cradles them close to her body while trying to stop the bleeding. But, unfortunately, itâs too late and !reader dies in Nancyâs arms. Their final words being a spew of sorries and how they werenât ready to dieâŠ"
You were in the basement helping tidy up the Byers' living space when you started to hear thumping late in the night. You shrugged it off, maybe your mom had slammed a door out of rage after fighting with your dadâor maybe Holly had jumped off the bed while playing. Either way, when your parents fought, it could be a bit of a war zone. You decided to stay in the basement where it was safe, and with the Byers and your siblings out for the night, it was easier to hide.
But you kept hearing noise. This wasn't the typical commotion of the Wheeler-Byers residence. Thump, thump, crash. Something was definitely wrong. Stomping? Running? What could it be? Should you go up and check?
Then the lights began to flicker profusely, enough for you to walk over to the breaker and start flipping switchesâyet nothing worked. You wanted to ignore it, really, but the noises got louder. So much ruckus from above, you tried to piece it together without peeking. Footsteps directly above you distracted from anything you could hypothesize. Stomp, stomp, stompâ
Then you heard screams.
You raced up the stairs, flung open the basement door, and found a scene chilling to the bone. A creature in the kitchenâtowering, human-like, no face, slimy, horrifying. You held your breath and your eyes darted to your mom and sister. There was your mom standing between Holly and the creature, soaking wet and holding a shattered wine bottle. "Stay away from my daughter!" She yelled, lunging at the beast in front of her. Frozen in place, you watched as she attacked this monster, believing she may have injured it enough to put it down and save her kids.
Holly locked eyes with you across the room, panicked like she was crying to you for help. And once the monster swiped at your mother and knocked her to the floor, you felt you had to. "Mom!" You screamed as she landed on the linoleum floor and began to bleed profusely. You ran toward Holly and tried to grab her, save her from whatever was here to hurt you. Maybe you could outrun it, get out the door and just never stop. But the moment you stepped between the monster and your sister, you felt a sharp jab to your back and gasped in pain.
It felt hot, and you looked down just before the claws of the monster were pulled from your abdomen and opened your wound fully. Blood began to stain your shirt and trickle down to your pants as you slowly fell to your knees while Holly's screams filled your ears. She grabbed your face and tried to keep you upright, talking to you as your ears rung. You couldn't save her as the monster took her by the arm and opened a glowing red portal in your living room, you were helpless.
You turned around and saw your mother struggling to grab the phone, trying to call for help. You were struggling to breathe, to move, and here she was crawling on the floor in a puddle of blood you had began to contribute to. You tried to move and help her, but quickly realized you could do no such thing as you collapsed to the ground and looked at her with tears in your eyes. She tried to comfort you, her child who'd been fatally injured beside her. She tried to speak, but no sounds came. She mouthed words of comfort as you both lie on the cold floorâthe lights were no longer flickering, it was quiet now. You made out a few words, she said your name, she loves you, hold tight. Then her eyes closed and she stopped talking, and you were all alone.
So many thoughts crossed your mind as the room got darkerâor it was your eyesight. You fought to keep your eyes open, you reached for your mother's hang and held it tight. You asked these questions to yourself as you put pressure on the massive hole in your stomach. What was that monster? Why did it take Holly? Where did it go? Where was your dad? Was your mom going to make it? Was an ambulance on the way? Would you survive this?
You heard the front door open and slam into a wall, footsteps approach, and your older sister appear above you. She looked frightened, something you hadn't seen in her in quite some time. Her hands hovered above you as she tried to figure out what she could possibly do in this moment, she spoke to the girl in tow behind her and you moved your head slightly to see her run through the portal the monster opened.
"Y/N? Y/N, can you hear me?" Nancy asked and you nodded. "Can you talk?"
"It hurts." You stammered out. "Monster...got Holly."
"My friend is going to find her." Nancy assured, reaching over to grab a kitchen towel to hold over the gaping hole she could see. She had no idea that the entrance wound was on the other side of your body, she thought she'd be able to stop the bleeding. "Y/N, everything's gonna be fine, okay? We'll get you to the hospital."
"Nancy...it's too deep." You explained weakly. "All the way through. I...I'm getting tired." You saw her shake her head, she grabbed your face and brushed the hair from your forehead.
"No, don't say that. Eyes open, on me. Just focus on breathing, okay? Mom and you are going to make it. I'm not going to let you die!" Nancy's voice cracked and tears began to run down her face. Your hand left your mom's and you reached for your sister's hand instead, barely being able to grasp it. "Y/N, you will not die on me. I can't let you die!" She scrambled for more supplies and shoved towels beneath you and you groaned in agony, then pushed your abdomen down to stop the bleeding on either side.
"I can't...breathe. I'm just...weak." Your shallow breaths wouldn't inspire her to give up, nor you tilting your head back instead of looking at her. You closed your eyes and spoke softly. "I'm sorry I can't hold on any longer. It's not your fault."
"It is! It is my fault!" She shouted, startling you enough to open your eyes back up and fight a little harder. "Y/N, I knew about the monster! I knew there was a plan to hurt you all! I was on my way to stop it, I thought I could make it in time! I'm sorry! It's my fault, so you can't die! Not today!" She looked at you, seeing the color drained from your face and your mother just as close to death beside you and began to noticeably shake. Nancy lost concentration, she stopped holding your wound and cradled your head instead.
"I don't understand." Your voice faintly surfaced. "You knew?"
"It's complicated. I wish I could explain the whole thing." Nancy replied, holding you close.
"I don't want to go. I want to stay with you." You told her and she wiped your tears.
"I'm right here." Your sister assured you. You coughed, causing more damage to your injuries and getting blood on your cheek as it came up your throat. As you faded out, Mike ran inside and saw you there on the floor in her arms.
"Y/N!" He screamed and fell to your side, out of breath from his journey. "Y/N, wake up!"
"Mike..." You whispered. "I'm gonna miss you guys." You felt his hands on your stomach, he was going to try and save you just like Nancy did. You knew it wouldn't work. You heard sirens in the distance and shivered. "I wish it wasn't...this soon. I don't want to go." The words shook your siblings to their core as you went limp, both in denial you'd let go. Both of them sat in a pool of you and your mother's blood and urgently ran to the paramedics to try to save you.
The paramedics checked your vitals, you lost too much blood. Mike and Nancy couldn't help but watch in horror as you were zipped into the body bag and carted away on a gurney, along with your parents who had severe injuries but were still holding on. The ride to the hospital was brutal, Nancy and Mike held onto each other tightly and sobbed as they recounted what had happened. Nancy wondered if she gave up too soon, she should have pushed through instead of comforting you. Mike thought he'd be able to save you if he were faster. They thought if their parents made it they'd fault them for your death. You were so young, you didn't deserve to die. Nancy kept thinking about Barb, how someone else died because of her. She tried to hard to keep you with her and now you were heading for the morgue. "It's my fault..." She whispered to Mike and he tensed.
"What?" He asked.
"I should have told them. Y/N should have known what we were fighting. If they were prepared, it wouldn't have happened." Nancy began to rationalize, and Mike's reddened eyes looked up at her in anger.
"Don't say that. I don't want to hear that." Mike argued and pulled away from her. He noticed her clenched jaw as she stared at her mom in front of her. Barely holding on, but she was there. Why couldn't you hold on for just another few minutes?
It was Lucas who took the radio and told the Party. "We're at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler are in critical condition. Holly was taken by the Demo. Y/N...didn't make it."
Joyce broke into tears and pulled Will into a hug he couldn't escape. Jonathan and Steve put their differences aside for just a moment out of respect for you. Robin stepped away to cry for you and Lucas sat in silence in the waiting room. Nancy and Mike stared blankly at the floor and Lucas wondered what could possibly be going through their heads. All he knew for certain is they'd be plotting their revenge.
