What Do You Seek?
“What are you looking for?”
A quiet whisper after 9 PM,
The calling out to my own soul,
Echoes of all those back home; in
My mind, alone, in a chapel hideaway.
And yet... Not alone. Never alone.
I encounter something more.
An opportunity in dim lighting
That I am privileged to share in:
The presence of Father, Son,
And whirling Holy Ghost.
“Fight for your faith, dear,
Fight for it with grace!”
A conversion.
We build God to fit around our sins,
As if He’s customizable,
Cookie cut for our human nature,
Divergent reality.
We capitalize our own Truth
And shrink His to truth.
I am one person
And perfection is far from me,
But I will fight with love,
I will fight with Love.
My friends have both taught
And tested me.
For that I am thankful.
“What do you want to do
With your life, Alexis?
You have so much potential,
My gosh.
My biggest fear for you,
Is that you’ll hold yourself back,
And let it go to waste.”
An awakening.
Help me to be a light
In the dark for others to see,
A light as I paddle
Through my own dark seas.
I don’t want to be heard,
I just want my life to be seen
In such a way that it is clear,
That I am in You and You in me.
Jesus Christ,
God Almighty,
Make me Your hands, Lord,
Make me Your feet!
“What do you seek,
My daughter, My beloved?”
“Non nisi Te Domine, non nisi Te.
None other than You, my Lord.”
